Just picked up a Rode PodMic USB and to be honest at $200 I feel like it blows both SS Alias options out of the water. First off with the Alias USB, it is about $20 cheaper than the PodMic; however, the PodMic has an onboard DSP which means that all of the processing that you configure in Rode Central like your noise gate, compressor, etc. are all stored to the Mic itself. This is beneficial because A) you get 0 latency monitoring with DSP applied if you use the headphone jack, B) you're not using your CPU to process all the DSP effects for your Mic, and C) you can plug your mic into any other computer and all your DSP effects are already applied without needing to redownload the Rode Central software.
What I will say about the Alias Pro, however, is that you can connect it to 2 pcs simultaneously. That said, you can upgrade to the Rode Streamer X interface at $399 and not only do you get the same onboard DSP benefits like I mentioned previously, but it comes with a better preamp for the XLR connection, comes with the ability to connect to 2 PCs simultaneously, comes with a bunch of sound effect pads that you can customize from your pc, and it also has a built-in 4k capture card.

Thank you for the very comprehensive review!
I'm on the fence between the Alias and the Maono PD400X you've recently reviewed. I'm gonna use the mic mostly for voiceovers, so I'm not sure XLR would make a big difference for me. I would love the create a very warm audio style, therefore I would speak into the mic from close, with a low voice.
For similar money the Maono sounded much better. On the other hand I have mostly steelseries stuff on my table and my OCD doesn't like mismatched brands :DD
    Any ideas?

Once again GadgetryTech making it too easy to understand complex audio concepts and configuration options. Every gamer/streamer or person that uses a mic like this for work should watch this video in a mandatory fashion. It also seems that SteelSeries is making a very serious play to get significant market share in the already busy streamer/gamer arena. Watch out elGato!
BTW the outro music at the end threw me off a bit, the beginning sounded like a scary movie!

Two questions: I have RTX 30 series graphic card and can use nVidias noise cancelations. It use of course little GPU load. How much Sonar use CPU load time? And 2nd question. Yep, this Alies series needs badly wind/ pop field. In your speak there was lot of booms to my ears and I was planning that I do not watch this video with my headset and watch later day time with desktop speakers. So, where I can get windshield to this Alies Pro mikrophone? Are there any?
