Oregon Winter Steelhead Bobber and Beads with Kayak FIRST TRIP of 2024

- First Oregon Winter Steelhead fishing trip of 2024 and we started the new year with a limit of chrome steelhead using beads and a bobber. We used a kayak to cross the river and access more water that was stacked with steelhead. Come along for the fishing trip and enjoy some fishing while our Oregon rivers are currently blown out with all this rain and winter weather. I was using BnR soft beads in pink pearl color on this day with a simple Okuma rod and reel from Bi-Mart. I used 10-pound Maxima monofilament as well.
Nice Video! Do you add split shot or two between the main weight and the hook? Cuz how do you keep that soft bead down in the strike zone in that fast water?
Normally I do. I missed a fish in that fast water that didn’t make it for the Final Cut on video and when I casted back to it I never touched it. Probably because I wasn’t down in the strike zone. Have you noticed split shot these days come so you can’t take them back off your line sometimes. That’s why I quit using them as much but yes split shot are the way to go.

what river is this i would love to try to take my kayak down the river was it safe to?
Oregon had more rivers to kayak and fish than Portland has tent cities so just go explore them and find one that suits your needs. I do my best to not get out locations to not blow up a spot. I realize folks still recognize rivers etc.. and we all share the resources. Some of the lower floats on the south fork Coquille would be great kayak spots but this river had too many sketchy rapids for safe kayaking.
Dude, fix your real handle. there's no need to swap back and forth while fighting a fish . Aside from that I think it's awesome your using a kayak

We landed 12. Best day so far is 19 for 25. The rivers are all blown out now….

One of many in Oregon that has both wild and hatchery steelhead. For the sake of not blowing up other’s fishing spots I try not to name a specific river or lake unless it’s already popularized. In every video there will always be a segment of the viewers that fish the same waters. Tight Lines.
