The fat acceptance movement (forgive me) eats their own so quickly. It is such a toxic, tow the line, don't stand out movement. I am sure she is still "team big girl" as a token to still be viewed as a "good fatty" and keep up with her very niche brand.
Also, I stopped in at this joint last time was in Vegas and it was ratty and empty. She is probably looking for her Plan B if that and current reviews are to be believed.

One of my teachers is in the fat acceptance community. I like her, but she gets mad at almost everything me and my friends say. It's either were being "racist" "homophobic" "fatphobic" or something like that. Even when we aren't even using words in that context. Like one time a was talking about my friend who is Asian, and my friend who sits by me was like; I had no idea you had an Asian friend? And I said "The Asian girl who works with me" and I got in trouble. I don't think I should have though because we weren't hating on her for being asian, I was literally just stating her race. Not to be derogatory in any way.

Like, I am a smoker and a recovering heroin/amphetamine/benzodiazepine-addict. I would be called delusional and/or in denial if I were to claim to be healthy, or not have any problem what so ever. If a movement supporting, well.. not just "supporting", but actually *encouraging* people to stay the way they are whilst *dying* from addiction, not a single soul would co-sign on that.
I *100%* support actually supporting addicts, not judge them. Just like with food addiction, judging and shaming people for being addicted rarely helps. Usually you just end up indulging even more of what you're trying to improve. It's important to support people trying to better themselves with *any* addiction, no matter if we're talking food, drugs, gambling, gaming, whatever. BUT trying to tell (drug) addicts that people encouraging us are in fact "bullying" us, and we shouldn't try to become better health wise etc., then you're *literally* encouraging an even earlier death.
We all (well, most of us) understand this (when it comes to *drug)* addiction. So, *WHY ON EARTH IS IT SO DAMN HARD FOR THESE PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THE SAME DAMN THING GOES FOR FOOD ADDICTION!?!?!?*

I yo-yo’Ed a lot after that but I’ve now maintained a 100lb weight loss for 5 years. I was teased a lot and really didn’t know how to eat healthy portions because I was certainly never taught anything about health or healthy eating. Took me a long time and I’m far from perfect now but I have a much better grasp on my diet than I used to and I’m grateful for that. Life is a journey. One day at a time and one step at a time. The reality is that there are people who can’t fit into standard salon chairs and maybe they shouldn’t have to wait to get lighter before they can enjoy whatever it is people do in a salon. (Sorry, I really don’t know much about such things. I clip my finger nails and the cats’ claws with the same toe nail clipper...)
So she saw a need and filled it. That’s usually a successful business model.
Glad to see she is losing weight and happily eating vegan, that could help her get further into eating better foods even though carnivores can eat plenty of fruit and veg too. It’s just that eating vegan even temporarily is likely to make someone more aware of all the other foods out there if they’ve been relying on animal products too much. And skipping eggs and dairy does make the hunt for junk food more challenging (says someone with a good collection of vegan junk food, as a vegetarian allergic to dairy and egg).
Anyway, she looked so uncomfortable when she first went into the salon business. So anything that helps her move more easily with less pain and discomfort is A Good Thing. Even if she was such a twit to Michelle. Maybe the Inner Demon could just forgive and forget in this case and start over.

He looked at the kid and said "I'm fat. I know I'm fat. It doesn't matter how you word it. I'm fat and I'm unhealthy".

    • @crouchingidiot
      @crouchingidiot 3 роки тому

👏🏼THIS. this is what i mean when i say that body positivity and being obese do not go hand in hand. i am all for loving yourself. if you’re naturally skinny or chunky, that is completely fine. you should love yourself. but when you’re dangerously underweight or obese to the point where you cannot move, you need to get help. do not preach about loving yourself and pretending to be oppressed when you are perfectly capable of making change. i have suffered from anorexia and it’s incredibly hard to recover, but you can recover. same goes for these fat women. if you can eat yourself into the state you are in you can exercise your way out of it.

I like you. I like you alot. Im overweight but im not extremely overweight, I emotionally eat very bad, I can still run, walk, etc. But it does make me out of breath after a short amount of time. I went on a diet an it literally made me feel like a different person. My views on body positivity for people who are overweight are its building confidence to loving yourself an then bettering yourself. You can lose all the weight you want but still feel insecure an huge. You’re a trainer so you know its a process to getting healthy as is being anorexic an obese its a process getting healthy an building up your confidence because behind anorexia an obesity is usually emotional or mental problems that have led you to feel like you have to over eat or starve yourself.
Its my senior year of highschool an the amount of stress an laziness im feeling is heavy, I go to school at 9 too 4 an my day is half over, i have chores, homework, etc. my mom works two jobs an im not very good with cooking an money is tight for us so a healthy dinner is hard when fast food is so much easier. Ive kinda put my health (the weight part) aside an its my fault, ive been dealing with alot of family problems an other medical problems I dont want to speak about an ive just been out of it you know?
Big people dont like to be pointed out or called out for being big because they know they are big. Period. Hatefulness an bullying someone for being small an big only makes it worse if they are emotionally damaged or unable to handle it.
Its a very sensitive topic but one that needs to be handled carefully an you did that perfectly. I respect you so much. You don’t look at it one sided that “oh your just fat, lose weight, get over it.” you understand its not that easy for anyone with a eating disorder.
One more thing!! I do heavily believe just because you are obese you DO NOT deserve the handicap parking spot. The guy that lost his legs or the woman who has seizures an limps when she walks or the old man that has polio deserves it. Period.
    One one more thing!!

I’m all for dressing comfortably for whatever size you are, rather than waiting until the weight comes down... If you succeed in finding nice clothes or hire someone to adjust or make clothes - you can always sell or give away the clothes when they no longer fit.

I think as time goes on, we are goIng to see more of this backtracking. Reason being, these pro obesity individuals will start getting diagnosed medical issues and they will get scared facing their mortality. There is a reason why they are all young: no one middle aged or older is well enough to take such a stance on obesity.

But I watched the video and noticed that I agreed with you 100% and you weren't even rude lol. People should take that old advice "don't read a book by its cover" a lot more seriously.

Growing up I always was the fat kid, all of my family members were skinny and my siblings and cousins used to make fun of my bc of my weight but regardless that I never made the effort to lose weight. I had depression during my teenage years and in middle school and high school my classmates (mostly males) made fun of me too and they said I was jealous of my skinny girl friends (which of course I was not) and still I didn’t do anything about it.
Then I enrolled at my local university and I hit rock bottom (201 lbs) I realized that a 21 year old shouldn’t weight that, it wasn’t normal; so after seeing pictures of me while I was vacationing I said ok girl you are fat there’s no other way to say it but you can change it.
So it began, my weight loss journey and I’m proud to say that now I weight 155 lbs 🥰. It didn’t only help me improve my physical health but also my mental health. It wasn’t easy but I got there.

Ahrrym 8rien well it took me about 3 years to get where I’m at now but I just gave up fast food and all types of flour, ate what my mom cooked (I was living with her at the time) started running 5km every day, I only drank water and I started to see changes on my body so from there I’ve never stopped

If she actually stays on this road, then this is a positive thing. She's seen the light, and maybe she'll even serve as an inspiration to some of her fellow F.A. cult members. (This presumes she actually stays on the road to self-improvement. It also ignores that if she successfully loses weight, she'll probably be ostracized from the "body positivity" community and might even lose her business because of it.)

I've always found this kinda disgusting about our culture. People will put in the time, effort, and lots of money into cosmetics for "beauty" reasons, but refuse to put in the same (if any) effort into their actual beauty and of course health. Throwing away money on shit that gets washed down the drain at the end of the day but not on the things that improve not only your health but your appearance also directly.

I don't know if you read my comment about exactly what just happened when these body positive influencers are starting to have health problems and decided to lose weight. It's just amazing how people who gives false information can have a huge following. Then when they go against what they are preaching, the same follower get a little salty. What a world we live in. Anyway, loved the video. Can't wait for the next one about the opera singer
