Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and publishing it my friend. I maintained my Manitou Axel and your video helped me a lot! Even so, I forgot to put the dust caps on the rubber seals and I didn't see that to release the Allen 8mm hexagon the direction is clockwise. Then I redid the work and now it's smooth as new! Greetings from Brazil

You probably have problem with the notion control in thr right leg. Can you lock and unlock the fork with the knob on the top of the right leg?

Hi, without knowing the exact model and year of fabrication, I can not help you. Try to search for a photo pr diagram like this with your actual model www.mtbr.com/attachments/axel-internals-jpg.119492/

I think you forgot to put back the boots

If you refer to those extra rubber caps, I do not recommend using those, if you are just a little bit serious rider. If you check any other fork you'll see that it's not a common thing, because it can scratch the surface of the stanchions if you are riding in mud. Inspect the stanchions regularly and clean any dust or dirt from it!

@@EatBuildRideRepair I used to tell people all the time, dust boots can keep dirt in better than it can keep dirt out. Yet lizard skins were ok.

When you said “put the 12 mm halfway and hit”. What do I hit? I couldn’t get the bottom half of the forks off

You should screw back the bolt halfway, place back the allen key into the bolt, and hit the allen key with a hammer, to separate the lower leg from the upper leg. This should be done on both sides. If you do this maintenance regularly than it separates more easily, if this is the first service after a long time, than the parts could be sealed up a little bit, takes more time, and effort, but it should come loose nicely. Just make sure that the bolt is screwed back at least halfway so you cant damage the threads.
