It looks very nice when installed. It fits nicely without the cover. If you got it at half of the price it was a great deal in my opinion. Take care Matt.
Sweet mother of God that is expensive! BMW tho eh :) Still very nice system and I do like OEM bits :) I pop my case off for my ultimateaddons case too, just fits nicer! Haha lean angle is a novelty but cool :P Wireless charging is also massively key and you didn't have to do any wiring. Which is nice.
They dont miss you with price. But it is made well and more importantly, it works. I am learning that German(like Italian bikes) need a healthy wallet.
Just paid the equivalent of 360AUD from an official source which included tax at 23%. Not bad value for the functionality but wouldn't pay anymore than that for it.
😂😂😂😂😂 big mother of a wallet!!!!! You own a Ducati Matty surely you are balling 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Great install- this is always the fun part, customisation 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Owning Ducati ensures that you won't be balling. Owning older ones, even more so. I made the mistake with the Griso by not buying the accessories that I wanted and now they are getting harder to find. So expect the GS to be receiving lots of bling.
@@RoadsOfOz I did. They said they have not seen any failures and I must have pushed too hard on the lower arm. I am still in contact with them. I am not OK buying a $300 cradle, seeing it failed under normal operation as I am trying to get the phone out and getting this unacceptable response from them.
@@RoadsOfOz Are you sure. On a forum somewhere, I was informed that you have to Bluetooth your phone to the cradle AND THEN the cradle takes over the app features.
Here in uk i got my mount for £190 which is 357 aus dollars most dealers in uk are about £200 i got mine from grimsby motorrad for £190. Also dont bother getting nav 6 they are shit
quad lock charger is crap when it works and it dont always if you use google maps and have music on it dont chare well enough and phone runs out as i found out on way to uk from spain not happy at all had to plug phone direct into a charger be warned
It's not just a cradle.. why do people comment when they have no information? It connects to the bike via the pins on the satnav prep mount. The information is passed via the cradle to your phone... It's mainly for people that don't have a tft screen and allows you to use the multifunction wheel to control the app features.
This cradle is known to be an iPhone killer due to vibrations destroying the camera. A 20 min ride is enough. BMW are aware of that but they keep selling this peace of shit.
Can't really blame BMW for a weak camera on the iPhone, they have issues even in normal use. I have used mine for a few thousand miles now, no problems at all, camera is fine, phone is fine, no overheating issues even in 30 Deg plus, never even budged with some light off roading. Great solution, works very well.
If the cradle is partially blocking the TFT view, you can adjust the cradle to tilt up more and that helped me see the TFT in fullscreen.
I am planning on adjusting it when I get the larger screen. It looks like a simple job.
The nice thing is that if you still need navigation, you can use it for that as well by downloading the maps to your phone.
Definitely gives you more options than just a sat nav.

I could have bought aftermarket for much less. But opted for the convenience of knowing it would work with little hassle.
Importing it directly from a German dealer might be cheaper than buying from BMW AU. Got mine for 180€ here in Bavaria
Nice matty, I'm glad I njust went for Quadlock
Probably should have done the same. I will see if I still feel the same way in 12 months.

The OEM cradle looks like it belongs there. Love the wireless charging. I agree, the installation was much easier than installing Quadlock's system.
I purchased one last week for $480 AUD from a dealer....which is still bloody expensive.
I have found some for sale on Facebook market place for $150.00. But Murphy's law. Only saw them after I purchased one new.
If you push the bottom of the phone in first its easier and not designed to take phone in case
Yes. I have a video on this coming out soon.
jeez thats dear mate but if it works i guess ya gotta pay ,bit of an upgrade from the glad bag phone holder i duct taped to my tank hehe
Hey if it works then go with it.
It may be a bit pricey, but I guess it's the convenience of connect and go
Installation is far easier with genuine accessories. I suppose you pay for the ease and convenience.
I always joke, BMW (big money wasted). But! It's always well engineered and does what it's supposed to do. It sure looks like you got it sorted.

That is a great price. Well sourced. I just did something similar for a Puig screen.

@@RoadsOfOz love it!!!
Got mine 10 months ago. Unfortunately the piece that you slide down to get the phone in and out broke.
Did you contact the dealer you purchased it from to see if they could replace it?

You can order that specific part from your dealer, saw it somewhere on youtube.
Can’t you adjust the cradle up a bit?
Yes. Ended up doing that. Just had to make sure it did not touch the windscreen on the bike.
Can you confirm if it's just a fancy phone holder. Could I use my phone without the cradle and using the "connected app", still get all the features?
Pretty much. I know people who swapped the whole cradle out for a Quadlock system.

you need it to connect I believe. If you just want a mount that provides power only I bought one of £15 but no connectivity.
Just bought my cradle from BMW - AU$505
Nice. Let us know what you think of it.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a similar issue when just recently. I had to shut down all the apps and just let the phone charge.
Shame the mount is adjustable at all. And damn, that price. Let's face it, is likely made in China for $25.
I will be looking a bit deeper into how it is mounted to see if it is an easy adjustment in a future video.
A cradle... for that price... insanity

@@CapelAdventurerso it's just a cradle, gotcha.
Don't waste your money save it for Maintenance you'll need it😅
Already paid for the 3 year service package. After owning Italian bikes, this is a bit easier on the wallet.
RTFM mate 😂
Definitely helps.
