Thank you! This video is very insightful. I am about to take a teaching job in China, coming from SA as well. But before I do I will definitely ask them some of these questions😉

Read your contract carefully.. Ask for clarification n further information if u r unsure.. Check with the relevant government department to make sure that u have not been cheated by the school..

Thank you for making this! I will definitely keep these things in mind. Btw- How come there are no foreigners highly recommending training centers or schools in China?🤣🙏 Are they all crooks? People were crazy about i2 before Covid. Now, it's obsolete. I'm interested in weekend and evening work, so training centers are best for me.

The school you work for scammed you. A good school has you working immediately as they work out your visa, resident permit, and working card immediately. The next scam is your salary unless you are at a school in a small city. 28k-35k is standard in a tier 1 city for anyone with a work visa. For the holidays, good schools pay them in full. As per paying for your own apartment, that is a basic cost and one of the things you should have looked up on youtube about moving to China. If a school takes any of your documents, you call 12345 as it is highly illegal. Is your school a training centre by any chance?

What school are you teaching at and in what city. Is it true that a lot of teachers from South Africa get exploited like this?
I'm currently looking to come and teach in china

It happens to anyone from anywhere,
I’ve seen Americans with Masters degrees get scammed too,
most people don’t know how to read their contracts,
some schools don’t tell you these things unless you ask.
They take advantage of the fact that you don’t know important things you just innocently looking for a job and say yes to everything.
A lot of South African teachers make the mistake of thinking the Labour laws are the same in China like in SA.
I was one of them,a lot of trial and error got me clued up,that’s why I started this channel to prevent people making mistakes I did.
You always have to do your homework
I teach at a kindergarten in Xiamen.
I’ll be uploading more videos and tips soon.
Please subscribe if you haven’t already so you know how to find my videos.

Don't cri babe, they didn't owe u a life coming to CHINA,
just like u going any other countries of the world..

The school scammed you. Holidays are paid.
School traget new foreigners because they will do anything they can, to pay you less.
    My advice, change school.
Im assuming your working for a training school. THose are the worst. Many DO NOT follow the contract. The schools that have a high change to honor contacts are bilingual and international schools.
In international school, the housing are provided for you, FREE, no bs pay first and refund later.
Training/after school classes target foreigners WITHOUT BEd/license degree, because they know they can pay them WAY less.
If you have a BEd/license teacher (NOT TEFL), my advice is work for a REAL school.
I head many training school, promise you this and that, just to get you to sign and work asap, because it is a money making factory. Many don't care, they only care about their bottom line.
They will make all kinds of excuse of not to pay you. For example, bonus. At the end, you didnt get it, because they will say, it depends on your KPI. Even though your KPI is good, there is always some BS reaons, saying their finances are bad and can only pay, 50% of it.
While bilingual/international school will fullfill it. Because if they don't, the teacher's words will hurt their brand. For example, if the teacher was screwed over by the school, we will revenge by telling all staff of his/her experience. For that teacher, it doesn't matter, losing the bonus. By spreading his/her story to students, teachers and parents, it will hurt the school ALOT. And these school knows this. That is why, international and bilingual school's packages and salary is high. THey want to keep the teacher happy and say nice things about the school to parents, future teachers and students.
