In case you haven't heard about it yet. Gogetair is making its rounds around the world. Particularly in the US market with thew G750 model. Similar to other light 4 seater experimental aircraft in the market, the G750 is an entry level cross country machine that can go the distance. Over 1000 miles in range.
Now being tested with a mini turbine engine , the G750 model will get more range 1500 miles and a bit more speed 2-5 knots faster. But you also get the coolness and reliability of a turbine engine. Starting price for this airplane is around $350,000.
Here are some more specs on the GOGETAIR G750
    Engine: Turbine or Rotax 915
    Range: 1500 miles
    Speed: 169 mph
Fuel burn: 8 gallons per hour
    Useful load: 771 lbs
    Starting price: $350,000

The turbine is very interesting for those needing an affordable way to build turbine time!

It would count as turbine time because it's not an enclosed turbine fan . The req is that the turbine engine has to be enclosed that's why people don't rent out tbm planes to build turbine time

Nice to see another manufacturer, this helps us all. As for turbine, if this is going to be a small one there may be no performance advantage, actually the opposite. Turbines have a higher specific fuel usage compared to reciprocating engines, most notably with smaller sizes. A well-designed turbine will be more reliable than a recip engine but we don't know that yet with the proposed one for this aircraft. A turbine will burn jet-a which may be an advantage in some areas like Europe.

The plane starts at 350k and the plane is also available with a turbine, somehow, sometime. Does not mean you get a turbine plane for 350k. That said the new European small turbines with heat exchanger cost much less than your typical PT6, but they still cost some money.

Mike, when you get a chance…
Can you post the specs of these fine aircraft… in the usual units.

What specs do you want? I own a G750 albeit with a 912iS engine...... My specs are 120KTAS burning 3.5GPH (13 litres per hour) in 10.000 feet. Each wing holds a 19 Gallon tank which means you can fly around 10 hours without refuelling. Lower down the fuel burn is higher (around 4,5GPH) but even then, I have done 8 hours flying without refuelling. Empty weight is, depending on engine / equipment, around 880lbs - 968lbs, means useful load is around 700 - 770lbs. The standard machine with 912iS comes equipped with single Dynon HDX screen, autopilot and BRS system - which is significantly cheaper to repack than Cirrus systems.... Ask me how I know that ;)

Have you seen the Airhart Sling? Some silicon valley kids are putting a Tesla style cabin in a Sling 4 with fly-by-wire and autonomous control.

But it's a 130HP turbine so a bit slower than 915, burns a bit more energy, costs 50k$ or so more so it's hard to spot the advantage. Most vibration is likely from the propeller anyway.
But if they made a pressurized variant with 2 small turbofan jets at the back, suddenly it would be a revolution. This not so much.
If they got the 915 properly certified in EU and USA and sold it for under 200k then that could also be somewhat of a revolution.

A Rotax 915 also cost more than $50k in the US depending who you buy from

3000 Hours TBO v 1200 Hours? Also the ability to fuel whatever you want - Diesel, SAF, Jet A1, with the correct tanks H2?

No way is a turbine more fuel efficient at 12,000 and below. Didn't catch exactly what make/model the engine was, but as a matter of physical principle turbines GULP fuel in dense air.

The aircraft with Rotax 912iS and Dynon Skyview x 1 is €250,000.
      The Rotax 916iS adds €45,000.
The turbine adds €100,000 to the Rotax 916iS ie about €400,000.
A turbine engine, burning cheaper fuel, more smoothly and with less maintenance, for an additional €100,000 will cost less over, say 3,000 hours operation.
It is a no brainer for commercial use, in flight schools or for aerial mapping, where high hours are being flown and, in Europe, Jet A1 is half the price of MoGas and a third of the price of AvGas.
Like any aircraft, there are many other options, although for some reason a retractable gear is not one of them.

    • @PhilipFly11
      @PhilipFly11 Місяць тому +10

That is HALF the starting price of a Cirrus SR20 which still operate gas guzzling vibrating air cooled piston engine running 100 year old technology from the 1920s . . . . Rolls Royce developed the Merlin engine with over head camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder, superchargers, water cooling all back in the 1930s and . . . . in the 1950s commercial aviation switched over to turbines and never looked back . . . . but 70 years later we pay $800,000 to $1,000,000 for a Cirrus burning expensive AvGas in an air cooled 2 valve per cylinder pushrod engine which will regularly pop a cylinder off the crankcase just half way to TBO!
