Shout out to all my socially awkward bros who can't take hints either!
I have never not been single, and live shows where I always go alone and barely socialize (yeah, very bad at it) is some place I didn't expect to find my first anything. But something very similar did happen to me last year lol. I was at the Rockzilla show in Hamilton last year, it was like my third live show ever (first of over a dozen in 2023). I met this couple, really chill people, were like a couple years older than me, and I was 21 at the time. I constantly chat with them in between set changes and any breaks, and it is obvious both of them are slowly but surely getting hammered, whereas I am not a drinker, so convos kept repeating around the same stuff. Papa Roach were the final act and about to be on in a few mins, I am chatting with the girl while her boyfriend his chatting with someone else on the other side, both are so drunk that they are struggling to stand straight. She was like 5'5 ish while I am 6'3, and amidst the noise, I had to often lean down to hear what she was saying. She was slurring her speech and I , barely understanding anything, just kept nodding. Then, outta nowhere, she actually grabs me and kisses me. I kid you not I actually froze coz it was not only my first but also super unexpected. And then her bf sees that. Well, I was not looking to cause a scene, Papa Roach came on and I used the livened crowd to kinda back off and avoid any altercation. I was able to slip out halfway through the set without running into them again. Still pretty wild. The fact that I have run into them at a few shows in Toronto ever since and none of them even remember the incident clearly showed how drunk they were, and after a few run-ins, I realized they often did coke before getting in (an unintentional evasedrop), so yeah, still a pretty wild experience.
It’s so difficult to mingle at metal shows because most guys are focused on the music and moshing, but tbh I was it was more common though lol 😅 concerts are my go to thing to do on weekends, it’s so fun & you get meet new people and make friends…that dude definitely fumbled a baddie lmao

Dude I’m telling you, guys at metal shows are sometimes so in their heads they are not aware. (Showing my age here) But I went to a Lamb of God and Opeth show probably 16-17 years ago and had a bit of a similar experience. I’m little (5 foot even without shoes) and I tend to usually stand as close but off to the side as I can get. I sort of got shoved into the center during the opening act and a guy pulled me back to my spot. We started talking through out the show and I asked for his number 🤣. He was flustered or something and I didn’t end up getting it. Three days later the dude somehow tracked me down on MySpace (yes again my age here). Went on one date…he was boring outside of music. This chick in this post may have dodge a bullet then 😆.

Broo. At the Wage War show... there was two people MAKING OUT THE WHOLE TIME in front of me and the queen and it was the MOST ANNOYING THING to see. like, every 2 mins. just full blown makeout sesh RIGHT INFRONT OF US lol -- Sorry i dont want to see that, im here to see the show and throw down
You should have duelled them to a kissing content and put them in their place

Yeah defs not a dating scene here at Metal Shows lol, a lot of attractive people surprisingly but not much mingling. However it’s a great social setting overall, year or two ago I went to a Born of Osiris show and long story short I became the talk of the crowd for the sole reason that it was only my second ever concert in my life. Was awesome feeling to have the support of the crowd with you, felt really at home as cliche as it is😅😅
But yeah maybe not a dating scene, but you get some good connections with people. Shout out to all everyone that went that day, y’all made my night for me😊
There’s mingling in the lineup or bar but during the show yeah that ain’t easy. Also love hearing that, sounded like good vibes at that BOO show
@@METALBIRB hell yeah! Shadow of Intent was one of the last openers and I actually got to meet Ben Duerr himself there, unfortunately this right when BOO started their set so we couldn’t talk much but for that split moment seemed pretty aight dude.
No way he fumbled the bag like that…
So story here, went to the Sleep Token show in Worcester, Mass, last year and had a drink, was vibing, was HUGE into Sleep Token at the time (still am) and there was a gal in the long ass merch line and I said something to a dude behind her, me and the gal talked, she came back, asked for my number, and was grinding on me the whole time, kissed me pretty intensely, I felt kinda bad for people around me but it was SLEEP TOKEN… I was around some cool people that were like “hell yeah” so idk, that was my first ever metal concert. I’m tactful 95% of the time, that was the other 5% LOL
I went to a Fit For a King show solo and met my girlfriend in the mosh pit... women in metal is god's gift to man 😂don't be a creep and it's actually pretty easy, just ask who they are most excited to see in the lineup!
You shouldn’t be mingling during sets. If someone was having a full blown convo with someone while the band is playing I’d take that as they’re disrespectful and aren’t here for the right reasons. Just be considerate of other people there trying to actually enjoy the music.
Why do you care? It isn’t your relationship, they paid the same amount for the same ticket that you did. Leave them be.
