      @@mjnona If I'm not mistaken, you don't need any degree to become an anesthesia technician. They will accept anyone (similar to a medical assistant) and they will train you. It's not so much a career path but more a stepping stone for someone interested in a future in anesthesia or medical field in general. Not to say you can't have a career as a medical assistant but that's what I'm comparing it to!

    • @Anonymous-so1ho
      @Anonymous-so1ho 2 роки тому +1

      @@mjnona Anesthesia techs are associates-degree trained. Similar positions include scrub techs (or "surgical technologists"), sonography techs, respiratory therapists. Paramedics and LPNs could also be a good comparison, as could medical assistants. But Anesthesia techs perform Anesthesia related tasks, under the explicit direction of an anaesthesia provider. Anaesthesia assistants are midlevel anesthesia providers- they are indirectly supervised by an anesthesiologist (i.e. a physician). They can manage cases and perform their duties on their own, but can't be totally independent.
      An analogy from the general medical world would be the anesthesia techs are like medical assistants, and CAAs like PAs, CRNAs like NPs, and anesthesiologists like medical attendings. The lowest level role completes tasks. No critical thinking or autonomy involved. The PA/CAA has a good deal of autonomy, but still requires supervision. The NP/CRNA role is similar, with the caveat that some states/systems allow for fully independent practice.

    My daughter was wanting to become an Anesthesiologist and is currently at student at UF . You are correct very little info on how to get into the profession: she has call Nova and has looked up what are the courses required. She is seeking a degree in Biology. That seems to have all the prerequisite courses . She is now in search of a mentor . I appreciate your videos as you were the first one that when she watched it decided to change her plan . She thinks that being the person that does the hands on instead of supervising is what she would enjoy. If there are any other words of advise or someone she could talk to about the job we would appreciate it

    Do you have any insight as to whether one should choose CRNA or CAA? Maybe how difficult it was to find a job as a CAA or any other insights?

    • @7cstaff
      @7cstaff 2 роки тому +1

      The scope of practice is quite a bit different between the two fields. CRNA has more direct healthcare education and experience thus has more independence. CAA is still an anesthesia provider but more of an assistant role. If you want to become an anesthesia provider quickly and make good money then go CAA. If you are more interested in not having to have direct supervision but okay with spending 8-9 years becoming an anesthesia provider then go crna.
