      Quite. I asked a Yorkshire brass band that I played for if Gresford could be played at the Remembrance Service to honour the miners that volunteered to fight, but were sent down the mines to hew coal for the war effort. Numbers died, more had their lungs ruined. The vicar [to her shame imho] refused as "miners were not proper soldiers".

    I used to live in Fishburn and hearing this band play again brought back so many fabulous memories, So proud to have once been part of it.
    Been to the Gala so many times too and even though I have cried a bucketful cos I cant be there today I have enjoyed watching it all from afar.
    God bless Everyone past and present including my dad who was a miner at Fishburn pit

    Terrible to see a flag that means nothing these days at such a historic event.. time Durham miners ditch the Union Jack

    All good but they need to ditch those Union jacks, go English and Scottish
