Will never forget. Expo '86 Vancouver. Czechoslovakia pavillion. Was 13 years old and my family stopped to dine at that pavilion's restaurant. We didn't know what to order from the menu... asked for any recommendations from the server. The waitress placed the plate in front of me. Tan gravy, meat something underneath. 🤯 my mind and tastebuds were blown away. I couldn't believe what I was eating...I was in absolute shock. The manager running the restaurant came to our table.. introduced himself, welcomed us and asked how we enjoyed the meal. Remember myself excitedly asking him what this dish was and telling him how fantastic it tasted. "Svickova..." He pat me on the head, smiled and thanked us.... then walked to another table. After a little while I feel another pat on the head from behind. The manager returned with two more servings of svickova and placed them in front of me😄 What a true gentleman. 35 years later...I've never forgotten the dish or the hospitality of those people.
