Phoenix Shaving soaps are hard to beat. The 25C head reminds me of the Gillette Tech profile. My SOTD will be PAA Awesome Sauce using my GSC FatGuy with a Nacet blade (3rd use). Post-shave is alum, witch hazel, and Proraso Green splash/balm. The start of a wonderful Wednesday.
Great video Mark. I own 3 Merkur razors and they are fantastic. Love Merkur's business practises also. First class company! Thanks for the review. Very enjoyable watching this vid! Thanks and GO SHAVE TEAM! 🍻
Rich, thanks.:) It's been fun discovering new tools in the editing software and applying them in new ways.:) I absolutely love doing the shave (and MMMB). Additionally, it's a very satisfying and creative experience editing it all together.:) A nice bonus of sorts.:)
Hi Mark- Great shave and razor review; thank you! Definitely seemed like a smooth shave; nice lather with the CK-1 soap, as well. Have a great rest of the week. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Mark!
Thaks, Mike. The 25C is a delightful razor.:) I enjoy using CK-1, but find myself, more often than not, purchasing PAA shave soaps in CK-6.:) I just love the tuff.:) Have a nice weekend.:)
Not sure (since have not got the 25c) but I think it's pretty much the same as the old type (which I have & hate, no hard feelings but I usually hate mild razors).. guess you are the 1 to enlighten me on this
Hi Mark, Excellent video as usual. Try the Merkur 23C, straight bar, closed comb, handle length 98.4mm/3.87”. Or the 33C which has the same head as the 23C but a shorter handle, 77.5mm/3.01”. I really enjoy your videos (best on UA-cam) and especially Monday morning mailbag.
Ernie, I sincerey apreciatehte nice words aobut my channel and videos.:) Thanks very much. Regarding the Merkur razors you mentioned, yes, Id like to give those a try. While preparing for this video review, I did notice the 23C. I'm really interested in comparing the two due to size and weight similarities.:)
Does the 25c give a better closer shave than the 23c? Do u have to do a 2nd lathering and pass to get rid of stubble or does the 25c give a very close shave on 1 pass? Are there any blades u recommend that could be used with the 25c that would accomplish a close 1 pass, 1 lather shave?
Thanks for posting another great shave video, Mark!! How aggressive would you say the Merkur 25C Open Comb razor would be on a scale of 1-5??? I've always believed open comb razors to be pretty aggressive which is why i have always shied away from them. Thanks, Mark and have a great rest of the week!
My Merkur 25C was Unfortunately defective, the threads inside the handle were messed up. Would you recommend getting another? On PAA soaps, love the ones I've tried (Doppelganger Gold Label and Diver Down )! I go for CK1. When possible because it's almost as good as the CK6 and it's considerably cheaper. Great video!
Duncan, contact Merkur. if the razor was defective, I'm sure they'll replace it. Mine is VDRY well made.:) Yes, I like CK-1 too. I'm a CK-6 fan, but CK-1 figures into my routine. It's nice to have a choice.
Hey Mark I asked you at one time to do a review of the Merkur 15c open comb razor but the 25c is identical to the 15c except for the longer handle. With the 15c l have to work a bit to get a BBS shave, maybe I need to use a more aggressive blade though I'm not sure if I would use a Feather blade with the Merkur 15c.
Anthony, it just worked out that I received the 25C form the generosity of a viewer marc Bagwell. I've been very intrigued by both these razor and was very happy to do this review. Based on this shave, a Feather blade is definitely one I would like to try.:) But the Wizamet Super Iridium did an absolutely stellar job. Give that blade a try.:)
Diyo, the 25C is more efficient and has a wider shaving approach. IMHO, you don't have to be on target all time with the 25C as you would with the 34C. The 34C requires a more strict technique...the 25C is a little more forgiving in that area...again, IMHO.:)
Merkur is a guarantee of a nice and confortable shaving, always a good video from you
Thanks, Danilo. I agree, the Merkur razor always delivers:)
Terrific shave, Mark! Enjoy the rest of the week!

Bart, I agree. PAA shave soaps are simply wonderful.:) I do like the lower profile of the 25C's razor head.:) Yes, a bit like the Tech.:)
I gotta try an open comb razor one of these days.
Great video Mark. I own 3 Merkur razors and they are fantastic. Love Merkur's business practises also. First class company! Thanks for the review. Very enjoyable watching this vid! Thanks and GO SHAVE TEAM! 🍻
Peter, I agree.;) Merkur makes an awesome razor.:) With all of my Merkur razors, quality control is very good.:)
I have the 15C, it's the short handle version of this👍
Ciderhouse 5 is a beautiful Autumnal scent
Patrick, thanks for confirming. I gotta try it then.:)
Nice shave Mark!
I liked that razor profile comparison

Thanks, Brian Erskine, you too!:)
OK, Now I'M saying. 'Boom Lather!' geesh!! Girls in other room totally cracked up!! LOL
:):):):)
This razor is like the 15c,just much longer. :) One of the best DE razors ever :)
Hi, Ádám. I've nwver ried the 15C, but from photos, yes, looks like the same razor head.:) Agree, it's a really nice razor.:)
Not sure (since have not got the 25c) but I think it's pretty much the same as the old type (which I have & hate, no hard feelings but I usually hate mild razors).. guess you are the 1 to enlighten me on this

it's not much different to the 34C but shaves smoother. Best razor in the range👍
What do you think Mark, this or the Muhle R41?
Great shave Mark which is milder 34hd or 25c

Your face-form it's a "dream for shaving"! 😢
Ciao Mark, amo molto i rasoi Merkur! questo pennello è morbido come gli altri della Phoenix? Ottima rasatura Mark!💈💈❤️
Massimo, yes it is.) It's a great little brush.:)
Hey Mark
I asked you at one time to do a review of the Merkur 15c open comb razor but the 25c is identical to the 15c except for the longer handle.

Outside of protecting the razor finish what's the point of the O ring? I know PAA uses one in their adjustable razor.
Thanks.
Protecting the finish, yes.:) I had a mishap with my Parker Semi Slant. Marred the finish. Now I use an O-ring with almost all my razors.:)
I guess is the same open comb plate as the 15C isn't?
Yes the 15c and the 25c are identical except the 25c's handle is a little longer.
Is there a difference between aggressiveness and effective cut between the merkur 25 c and 34c and which one do you think is more successful?
Diyo, the 25C is more efficient and has a wider shaving approach. IMHO, you don't have to be on target all time with the 25C as you would with the 34C. The 34C requires a more strict technique...the 25C is a little more forgiving in that area...again, IMHO.:)
@@MarkSzorady thank you very much sir🙂
