Thank you for this -- clear, no-nonsense. I've had trouble with a previous LC90 strobing and not being able to click out of that mode. But Anker quickly took the exchange with an apology. It's got the value you mention, and your review is an accurate one.
I wrote to anker. I suggested they post all the lumen output ratings for the different modes going forward on their flashlights. They told me the medium and low modes on the lc90 are 600 and 250 lumens respectively.
Great review!! You actually described how to change the modes which is what I was looking for as I lost my manual. Everyone else just wants to show how to take it out of the box.
I own and have had great luck with many Anker products. These include battery packs, various cables, power blocks for phones, wireless head phones, car chargers and phone mounts for cars. I received the Anker flashlight today. I agree this review here but there is one thing I consider a flaw in this design and that is the exposed wire running from the power switch when you open the tube to charge or replace the battery. That wire will not last long even with the most careful user.
There's no exposed wire, there is an elastic cord that retains the unscrewed section :) The circuit connection is by internal spring and the flashlight body, just like it usually is.
Great detailed video. Do most LED flashlights have the darker center spot when zooming out? Is there any other LED flash light you think is better than the Anker LC90 at that price point?
The strobe modes are anything but "silly". They can save a life when for example snow-mobilers or hunters get stranded or injured in the mountains here in SE Idaho. The strobe modes can put out full intensity light while saving power and extending operational time. (Search & Rescue Member)
The SOS flash might make some sense, or a strobe if it were an infrequent beacon style, but I mean silly because the strobe has a ridiculously high frequency. It's not a safety thing, it's intended as a 'tactical' feature to blind and disorient adversaries. If you ever used it in a rescue scenario you'll have given yourself epilepsy and disoriented your S&R party over a cliff edge long before they ever get to you.
@@CraigsDIY You use what you have. SOS is obviously better than a high frequency strobe for battery longevity, but the high frequency strobe will garner the immediate attention of rescuers... even in daylight.
@@CraigsDIY strobe is a very effective self defense tool, even against certain animals in the woods. I wish it were implemented differently in the Anker lights though. To have to cycle through to it is in fact silly. It should be instantly accessable, not tacked on like this. It also increases the likelihood of using it accidentally when you need\want something else. I do agree with Rick though that SOS is incredibly useful and important
Thank you for reviewing the key features of a rechargeable flashlight, like how long it takes to charge; and how long the charge lasts. Oh wait, you didn't mention anything about those things in your 5-minute 20-second video... still, at least you explained that a red light means its not charged and a green light means its charged, which most people wouldn't have been able to figure out by themselves. Great, short, informative review. (is what it should have been...)
This is made in china just got mine today and honestly im disappointed. I doubt this flashlight is 900 lumens. My 800 lumens flashlight is brighter than this one.

Very good review. To the point, objective & practical. Well done, lad!
Wow! I didn’t expect you talk about light temperature. Thanks.

Great video, thank you : ) Does it remember the last mode you were in when turning back on?
Yes.
I bought my 2nd one......Anker /rocks. great flashlight & size.
Great review. Answered all of my questions!
Detailed review but I would've liked for you to test the water resistance as well. Thanks!
Regrettably lamp is not replaceable at end of life. Seems well built. Bought optional charger from A. Need a spare battery.

now comes with a cable
No battery level indicator + need to unscrew the lid each time you want to top the battery then rescrew it. Come on, this is stupidly designed.
