Paul plays bass on the recording and Anton Fig played drums, bc Gene and Peter are terrible musicians and can’t play this simple octave bassline and play in 4/4 time.

It's funny - for years I've thought the bass was "galloping" along with the guitar, but I guess that would have made it too cluttered. This is great - and gives a great insight into the ARRANGEMENT of this iconic song. Good playing, dude. Also - to all the people saying Gene is an underrated bass player - no shit! Check out his early work on the Classic Six albums and you'll see there's a level of interest to all his basslines that keeps you intrigued, not just the same thumpa-thumpa on one note (that he actually adopted a little in some of the KISS songs of the 80s). Gene has always said that he would structure his basslines as if they were a horn section. You can't hear it in this particular song - but definitely hear that kind of approach on the Classic Six.
