The most important thing I learned playing in a band both live shows and recording was not trying to do too much. At first we all tried to play as technical as we could - I guess to stand out. Once you realize less is more and that it’s about playing the *right* thing for that moment of a song it all comes together. It’s about being part of a larger organism, a piece of the whole. That’s what makes great music.
I heard that the bass-out-front songs like this were from times when they couldn't rely on John to be at his best (either deep into a heroin binge, or feeling rough trying to come off the heroin).

Flea and JF are a unique and wonderful combo with so much natural feel and chemistry. They just gel so well. I used to love the Off The Map tour DVD, as it including so much jamming. Joy.
