Mental to think the Porsche has over 100 horsepower more and doesn't exactly fly away from it. You could probably add 20 horsepower to the Alpine and it would make up the difference!

well you don’t know about cars then because the spline weights 300kg less has a 7 speed dual clutch which is amazing for kick down whilst the porsche is a manual lmao
The cayman’s gearing is so tall it truly should have been in a lower gear than the other cars or just had a race with optimal sportiest settings. The manual in that car will do over 70 in second gear meaning that 3rd at 50 is a major disadvantage. Regardless, great video as always!
That is the whole point though. It shows the disadvantage that Porsche built into that car with the unrealistic gearing they gave it. Meanwhile in the standing start and braking it's able to show its strengths. If you tailor the tests to minimise the weaknesses of one car then what's the point?

I have tested the Alpine non S version and the ride quality was amazing and performance fine for U.K. just great car and attracting lots of attention, and I don’t think the GTS is expensive with that engine, also the PDK gear box would have been more competitive
Does a drag race has any value? Driving fast in a straight line is easy, keeping energy through corners seems more important to keep overall average speed on a higher level.
I drive daily a toyota... never drove any of the 3 , yet . I'm just admiring this content and I'm thinking honestly in two directions ... they are pretty close as price and as performance...so probably in traffic conditions, the difference in " performance" will reduce to driver's skills. If the Alpine would have 350 Hp ,might be in advantage, but that would imply a bigger engine... and as I can figure out, Renault as a group made a name by taking in consideration tax/ regulation limits and probably reliability ?...so ... there's that. Nope, not Nissan. The initial development partner was Caterham (that's why it's so light) but Caterham had to pull out as the development costs where to high, after that Renault (sport) developed the car on its own.
Actually, I should shut up, sorry..... I see you where referring to the engine.... oops
Are you stupid or what .....Renault have more expérience in sport engines and more expérience in smallest engines too .....
Well Nissan and Renault are linked so.... 😇
Please do a 4-Cylinder comparison: Cayman 718 with 300hp, Alpine A110 and Supra 2.0 Turbo
You always love to see the new Zupr4 taking on a drag race.
Gear ratios on the Cayman! 😳 Matt was in 3rd for 3 minutes 🤣
He was in the wrong gear for the rolling races. He should have been in 1st gear for the first race and 2nd for the second race (not 3rd which goes to nearly 120mph!)
The Zupra had the best performance for the money. And it won 2 out of the 3 races.
Very impressed with the results for it for sure.
That’s 340hp 2 port engine if it was 6 port it would of won all the races ..
1.8 vs 3 liter.and 4 liter.. Alpine had 3 liter smoke all easy😂
I just love the look of the Supra 🤌
Love my Supra but revs didn’t sound like it’s in sports mode that mode helps in racing
The alpine is everything but a straight line race car, and still doing great ! For sure kicking the supra's ass on a track
And the Porsche would destroy both on any track.
@@gavinwyllie7855 not sure about it close match i believe
@@gavinwyllie7855 we could see that the porsche was more precise on the breaks but still the alpine has faster accelerating response
@@missterbiig8663 It's not close. The GTS is much faster on track
@@gbgt2 How tf would you know? Its got 300kg more on its ass.
Matt in a rolling race why you never shift down to boost rpm?
Love these drag races but would love to see a circuit race between the Alpine A110S, the Maserati MC20, the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS (when it hopefully reaches customers) & the GRMN Supra (when it comes out).
I don't think the Alpine or Supra fit with the other two. Imo of course.
why the mc20? its a LOT more expencive right?
Yeah wtf these cars are totally not in the same range in terms of performance and price. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Wish we could get the Alpine in the U.S., such a fun car.
🇫🇷👍💪 Belle prouesse.. Et avec la version R... a suivre
The alpine looks insane in the yellow
Absolutely beautiful
The tall gears are a little long not gonna lie. But with a 3.9 diff, the gears would become exactly why I would get the cayman. I would be able to go all the way through the power band but not go like 50 mph over spd limit
Really wished they brought a PDK version instead
🤞🤞
That’s exactly the opposite. You can’t go through the gears, at the top of 2nd you’re going 83 mph
Love the enthusiasm bro hut not how it works. The longer the gears the harder the power band is to use.
@@michaelarwas8466 that’s what I’m saying lol
@@MellomanAlex I understand what you are saying. But I don’t like really short gears like in the alpine or a Supra. Yes the 3.4 final drive in the cayman is a little long. But With a 3.92 diff you got everything you need for countryside roads.
@carwow loved the tribute to Brazil with car's colors
You guys need to check out the 2022 A110S as soon as possible.
if the 718 was one gear lower in these drag races it would've killed em 😂
Hey there this is one of your favorite and a huge fan from Africa Ghana. 🇬🇭 I wish I could participate in one of your videos especially drag-racing 🌹thanks
I'd love to hear the Porsche's intake sound with the Alpine's pops and bangs
😍😍😍
Just get a 981 gen Cayman then.
The Alpines so underrated. It really is
Idk
a bit pricy for a renault with 200hp
Also the look is a little weird imo
I mean interesting car i would love to drive it.
but definetly not the car i would buy for 60000
Kinda, kinda not. It cost 58grand for a 1.8 L engine with little hp.
@@peace9667 yea definitely agree with u. Looks difficult to drift and have fun as well 😅
@@bentran3657 enigine size is not always proportional to price
A F1 car has engine size of 1.6L😁
While a camaro 6.2 cost around 40k
@@peace9667 yeah just compare it to an f1 car why not
Post passat b5.5 1.9 tdi race with others in its category
^
Alpine is gorgeous. Lightness is so underrated for handling and for not wearing out tires, brakes etc on track
rear end of that alpine is great looking but that front lights make it look little bit ugly for me.
i am truly happy. You win . I like this CAYMAN GTS. i was anxious when you tell us the lightweight of the ALPINE, but nothing to do against the FLAT 6 , 4 liters of the CAYMAN. A long time ago, 400 HP was the power of The FERRARI MODENA ???? Today it is the power of an AUDI RS3 or a MERCEDES C43 AMG. Thank you for these great races.
I have tested the Alpine non S version and the ride quality was amazing and performance fine for U.K. just great car and attracting lots of attention, and I don’t think the GTS is expensive with that engine, also the PDK gear box would have been more competitive
The Porsche looks like a bargain compared to the Supra.
Thank you for the opportunity to make an opinion.
Let me guess even before I’ve watched this. Matt is in the winning car??
No guessing needed.
@@exnihilonihilfit6316 Cotrect, he hid a smug twat. 200% that pre races happen so he picks the winning car then celebrates like he’s something superior to the other guys…….
Love the Alpine. Going to get one!!
To these cars really cost the buyers just that? In some markets the bigger displacement engine would be taxed a lot more. In others it's just about g of co2/100km. Would be nice to see that mentioned, at least for UK.
I think a top shot of the braking test would be dope!
Never disappoints mat! Who agrees?
So we've made it to 5 minutes and 50 seconds before the actual content starts. The world applauds you!
How no one is talking about how good Matt shift gears in manual too 🥺
This is the real mf ghost😂
Exactly what I was thinking 😂
Perfect CARWOW video
Lmao Mat just keep emphasizing the JDM Supra is from Germany😂😂😂
I’d go for that Porsche. That green color and manual gearbox 😍
So cool to see Mr. Calero on this review! That was a nice touch!
