    Great video. Just wanted to say be careful using those kind of chemicals on a roof.. if you are breaking down those paints, you are most likely doing damage to the roofing material.

    Thank you that was just the question I had! Sacrificial vs permanent! Perfect experiment to demonstrate.

    Thank you very much for creating this video. A mural on the same wall over and over and I floated it recently and my pressure washer wasn't removing some of it. I'm going to have to float the wall again just to make it a little bit smoother. Actually use temporal paints which are the children's washable but believe it or not it did not come off in certain spots so I wanted to use this stuff for that purpose and I'm sure if I get the non sacrificial it will be perfectly fine

    Thanks for this video! I was looking into these anti-graffiti products recently so this is super helpful to know!

    You are the best muralist on UA-cam! I mean wow! Thank you for creating and sharing this. I have to ask, in the event that you have to rework a mural for the hypothetical instance that the client wants something changed, like they got married or lost a pet and they want a portrait included in the mural, but it's been coated in the siliconized/non-sacrificial coating; how do you make those additions? Also, I've heard that most clients won't want to pay for the anti-graffiti coating. So, I don't know the likelihood of you having had to deal with this. Also, generally speaking (because I'm sure that there are a ton of variables) how long will the coatings last?

    I have never had any luck with temporary coatings, & adhesives...permanent & thick with a good clean & scrub, dull the sheen & recoat again..

    Great advice. How do you work the cost of continual maintenance into your mural fee? And how many months/years do you offer to maintain your work?

    Great video! I have an art piece that will live outside and be handled a lot. I was going to epoxy it then found out that it'll yellow. I need something durable that has some abrasion protection and UV protection. Do you think this non sacrificial coating would be good?
    I was also thinking about just coating it with Worlds Best MuralShield, it's supposed to go under that Graffiti Coating that you used. Not having MuralShield in the middle is most likely why your art was messed up.

    Yea but what kind of spray paint did you use.. it changes everything.

    I read that if you mix a bit of anti graffiti agents into your ink mix in mop pens, it makes it even more difficult to remove. If somebody tags over you it ruins their ink. Is that true?

      @@James-z6x3u haven’t heard that one. I’m guessing it depends on the agent that you put in there because they are all different formulas. I’ll have to experiment with that though

    just apply the non sacrificial with a gas mask and a brush or roller ? (in my case its an uneven brick masonry surface)

    Any tips for a road painting that will be driven on?

    Good to know, I was almost going to buy the sacrificial coating, but prefer to reserve the painting underneath. I wonder how Sherman Williams works on stucco walls though? Have you used it on that? And if for some reason some graffiti doesn't entirely come off and you want to repaint over it, can you paint over the Sherman Williams with the original paint you used, or do you have to take off the graffiti cover first and how?

      Try Loxon as a base coat for stucco. You oughta talk to the ppl at Sherwin Williams! They can answer all yr Questions - & they get paid to do so! They're paint geeks (& wall coating geeks!), so they're super helpful, too! i learned a LOT from them!

    Does this protect from the sun and fading the sherwin Williams one?

    • @iamdetour
      @iamdetour  Рік тому

      It says is does but I would still add a another coating underneath that provides UV protection just to be safe. I use the mural shield coating to prevent fading.
