Excellent showcase ! Can I use 4, maybe 6 of them connected at once in my trailer home ?
According to RockPal, you can only connect two panels together. Hooking up any more than two could damage the panels or the device you plugging into.
Nice solar panels Kory. Like that they include all the different power jacks and the kickstands. I took your advice from an older video of yours and got a Foxelli solar panel. I took it on a 5 night 6 day camping trip back in July. Only used it once to charge my Ipod. It took a couple of hours to charge, but I was happy. Have yet to test it out more. Thanks for that recommendation.
I'm glad I could help. They changed the design of the Foxelli, now it doesn't come with a gauge and I hear the build quality isn't as good either. I'm glad the one you have seems to be working well. Those smaller solar panels do take a lot of time charging things but they are a lot easier to carry around than the bigger ones.
@@newageselfreliance The Foxelli I bought off of Amazon didn't come with a gauge either. I wasn't aware that the older ones had one.
The one I have shows the Volts and Amps. That way you can make sure you're getting the maximum amount of sun. You must have one of the new ones. I might have to buy another one just to compare the two.
@@newageselfreliance That's a bummer, I don't remember if you showed the gauge in your video, it was quite a few months ago when I rewatched it. I had to use a log to prop the panel. Wish they put kickstands on all panels.
Well 2 is better than 1. That would definitely be great with that power pack. Good video
I think so too. I'm glad I have both so if I ever do upgrade my power station I will already have the solar energy I need to charge it. Plus I can more efficiently charge what I have now.
So I have this solar panel but I don't have the adaptor cable and I was wondering where I could buy a replacement if you knew
I'm not sure what connector you are asking about? Here are some affiliate links but just so you know I have zero experience with either of these products. I suppose the best way I could help is by telling you the names of everything so you can research what you need. The male and female connectors are called MC4 connectors. The red and black connectors are called Anderson Connectors. There are different sizes of Anderson Connectors, they use Anderson Connectors on Forklifts and Heavy Machinery. However, if you look up Solar Panel Anderson Connectors you should find what you are looking for. Here are the links I promised earlier. They don't have many reviews but it's the best I can do. Anderson to MC4 amzn.to/4eJzhlU Anderson to Split Anderson amzn.to/3zyT5bq
Can i use 4 of this to charge 72v batteries for my ebike? How many amps each 100w panel offer?
They only recommend connecting two panels up at a time. Each panel has 5.5 Amps. Here is an affiliate link if you want to look at more specs amzn.to/3CepVNL
Awesome video. Hey, why did rockpals send you a jackery and not one of their solar power generators like the 500W?
They had already sent me a 500W RockPal Power Station. The main reason is the Jackery shows the input watts where the Rockpal Does Not. They sent the Jackery so people could see the input wattage actually in use with a power station rather then just taking our word on it.
@@newageselfreliance wow, I bought the rockpals 300W and it does show the wattage coming in. So they must of added that feature later. Cool. Thx for answering.
Really like your videos and how you go into detail. What part of the country are you in.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. I am 100% Minnesotan.
Very informative video and I do have 1 suggestion. The difference in the model is that 1 is set for parallel connection the other will not allow you to connect it in that fashion. The panel with the SP02 in the model name is for parallel. I just found this out when I ordered my 60w panel.
Yes, you are right. Thank You so much for pointing that out.
I have two sp003's that I run in parallel without any issues. I've seen others say the same. Are you making that claim from first hand experience or hearsay? If it is firsthand, please explain your experience, thanks
Let me ask you a question I have this new solar panel and the one you have on this video, but I also have the old hundred watt solar panel can I connect both of those to my 500 W solar rockpals generator??? Can I plug them both in together to the generator on the left side ?
No, according to RockPal the older 100 Watt solar panels can not be chained together with any other solar panel. That is what makes these new ones so much better.
Yes you’re right I talked to Rockpals today they are willing to take my old one back and replace it with a new one 👍
you did not show which cords to put together. did you get an adapter?
These panels come with a Y splitter that allows you to connect two solar panels to one device.
I have the older panels, can you do a video on hooking the old ones, I have two 100 watts, what type of splitter would I need to hook both to a rockpal 500
according to RockPal the older panels can be hooked up in line. That is why they made the new panels.
Great video. I have a question though - do you know if its okay to use more than two? If the Jackery 500 (I have same Jackery 500) can only suck in ~75-90 watts even with 200 watts worth of panels, then I would think 300 watts of panels wouldn't make a difference. The only thing then would be if its harmful for the panels to have three connected together.
RockPal told me that you can not hook up more than two panels. It can damage the Power Bank. The advantage of having two hooked up is that it will keep the charging closer to the 90 watts input even on a cloudy day. The Jackery can't charge faster with more panels but if one panel only gets 40 watts it will charge much slower than two panels charging 40 Watts apiece meaning the Jackery will charge twice as fast in that weather condition. If one panel is getting 80 Watts the second panel isn't going to be used at all unless a cloud rolls by and block the direct sunlight. Hope that makes sense.
@@newageselfreliance It does make sense. Thank you for the reply!
Another awesome product review. Thanks Kory.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video.
Can this charge a 12v lead-acid or Lithium battery through a 20A solar charger controller? Is the output of this panel comparable to the 100w solar non-foldable panel?
These are the only 100 Watt solar panels I own. I have nothing to compare them too.
Yes, yes and yes.
Just be aware when charging lead acid it's not only good practise but just smart to use an external controller.
Please Identify the type of plugs-SAE? Andersen? How long is the cable that connects two panels? A close up of the cable connections would have been helpful. Also if you showed how to connect to a separate solar controller that would have helped too. How adjustable were those kick stands?
What do you plan to do with the solar panels? The kickstands are not adjustable they only open and close.
What arecthe connectors u used to paralel them??
These panels use the Anderson Connectors. They come with everything you need to hook them together. Each one comes with everything you need. So if you buy two panels you will have an extra connector.
Very nice video, thank u for sharing! Im currently researching solar panel options, so this is very helpful. 👍👍
I'm really glad I could be helpful. Hopefully you find what you need.
@@newageselfreliance Yeah man, always enjoy ur videos! I am leaning towards the Foxelli 21W one for now and will probably upgrade to a Powerfilm down the road, but I am now considering these Rockpals as an option, lol.
They changed the Foxelli design. It no longer comes with the display and I have heard the quality isn't as good. I really like the one I have but I haven't seen the new design so I can't comment first hand.
@@newageselfreliance Oh...that is sad, lol. Ill have to be careful then and do a little more research. Thank u for the heads up!
That's Very Nice! I like it. Thanks for the info. Thumbs up video ~John
Thank You so much for watching. I truly appreciate the Support.
I just bought 4 of these. Can I parallel 4 of them? I am buying a Bluetti ACA200P. Need solar to charge so I bought these.
I'm not sure if you can or not. You will have to let me know. The thing I'm more worried about is if the Bluetti can handle that much input wattage. You might want to look up what the Max Input Wattage is for that battery system. The Jackery in this video only has a Max Input Wattage of 80 watts so when I hook up two panels for safety reasons it slows the charge to only 75 Watts. Whereas when I use one single panel it will charge up to the full 80.
Bluetti AC200 requires min 35v input max 150v. If you run panel parallel you wont achieve 35v you will need to connect panel in series instead.
It probably capped at 4A, what's the max voltage input?
The Power Voltage is 18V and the Open Circuit Voltage is 24.3V. Here is an affiliate link if you want to look up more of the exact specs amzn.to/3Y0LtpY
@@newageselfreliance Thanks
If you have a bluetti eb150 can you hook up both panels to it? It has a 8mm input cord. Do you need an adapter? And you should of showed how you connected the panels to the Jackery
The RockPal comes with a 8mm connector. I think both the Jackery and Bluetti use the same cable.
@@newageselfreliance can you buy just the adapter? If so where?
You shouldn't need an adapter with these panels. If you need a new cable you can get one here amzn.to/2Hbg2Gx
Another good review. I find it very strange that they sent you a Jackery power station to test instead of their own 500 watt unit
I already did a video on their 500 Watt Power Station ( ua-cam.com/video/GEmmOHxPXM4/v-deo.html ) It doesn't have an input reading like the Jackery does. With the Jackery I was able to show that connecting the panels together does make a difference.
@@newageselfreliance yeah I saw your reviews of the 500 and 330, i just think it's strange that they chose not to highlight their own product...DUHH 😳 i went back to watch your review of the 500 again, i had forgotten that they already gave you a 500 so I guess it would not have made sense to give you another one☺ i am kind of anti-jackery because I don't care much for the clown that is their mouthpiece and i HATE how everybody and their brother seems to think "if it ain't orange it ain't no good"
The Jackery is more popular and a lot of people already own them. RockPal really wanted to show how easily their solar panels would work with the Jackery system.
@@newageselfreliance yeah I understand that, i do't care for Jackery myself so when I see what looks to me like capitulation by a product I prefer it bothers me
Why would they send you a "generator" of any make that doesn't give the full reading of two panels? You said there was full sun. When you hooked up one, you only got around 65W from a 100W panel. I would not say that is good as you did. I actually don't plan on buying these panels because you proved to me they are indeed NOT good.
Awesome looking panels. Little jealous I dont have the new one hahaha. I really want their 12v cooler so i can review their whole system. 500 watt station. 100 watt panel. Cooler. Not 1 single person as a video on all 3 together. I need more subscribers 🤦♂️
I was looking at their products on Amazon and they have some really useful stuff. Hopefully I can stay on their good side and make some more videos for them. The Subscribers will come, you just have to keep putting in the work.
@@newageselfreliance yeah you said I did decent on my 500 watt station video and talked a little about that. Almost 2 month in. I'm a 22 subs and 1 video just hit 2k view's. So its steady going. Dont take my idea about all 3 cause not 1 person has done all 3 things 🤣. I'd bet you could get cooler easy 🤣. I dont like that it wont work below 12 volt like some though. Cause the station isnt 12v regulated.
I never ask for products I only get what they send me. 2k views is really good, they say over 60% of all videos on UA-cam have less than 500 views so 2k is really saying something.
@@disabledoffgridadventure9580 I have heard people say once the power hits the threshold on the volts you can connect the AC and it will run the 12v fridge. Not sure if it is because of it being regulated or what. Also, not sure if safe as well.
Well explained
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Yes please compare the two panels
Now that it is getting nicer outside I will have to make that video.
I didn’t know Luke Combs was into solar?
Not good results at all.
What would you recommend?
Yeah I bought a 100w upgraded from rockpals on sale. They OBVIOUSLY send out returned item for new. It looked faded, scratches and had brown discoloration all over it.
I hope you returned it for a different one.
@@newageselfreliance Yes they have been great. They sent me a return label and told me when I got it in the mail on the way back to let them know and they would get my replacement sent out, in the mail. They were quick with response time and everything. I just got it dropped off today at FedEx so I'm waiting on my tracking for my replacement. They don't usually reply back until early morning time. I guess the time difference between me and them.
So I hope to get my tracking tomorrow or the next day for my replacement.
I'm glad it's going smoothly. You might not be getting a tracking number until Monday. I'm sure they are available on weekends. I'm glad they are standing behind their product. Hopefully, you don't have to wait too long to get your replacement.
@@newageselfreliance I just thought I would let you know they screwed me. They literally sent me a used piece of junk where one section literally had a hole through it, on all sections in different spots they had missing strips of the lamination thats supposed to cover the whole panel, there was pine straw, dirt on case.
So I'll be returning this junk and buying from someone else, another brand. Obviously when they run a sale it's to get rid of their seconds, used, returned, refurbished merchandise instead of sending out a new item that people think their buying. I'm sure some actually get a new panel but some don't. After looking through other review sources I'm not the only one they've done this to.
At least you can return it. It sucks that they are not sending out quality gear.
