Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

Jessica I loved this video. We do Sunday dinner once a month with my boys and their families ( use to be every other week but they get busy and I’m so thankful for the once a month) Watching you in the kitchen reminds me of those dinners and preparing the meal. We ran a private Group Home and most of the children never had a meal at the table, until they came to us... Sundays especially were a wonderful family meal... even after they've all have their own families, still a Tradition here and with them... all 23 Gbabies love to come to Grams and Pappys and have a sit down meal at the table!!

@@modernhomesteadalaska thank you sooo, we got all when they were teens- we didn't kill or eat them, so God has rewarded us wirh so many beautiful Gbabies... of course their all perfect! At least in our eyes, and no, I'm not the Grams that spoils them rotten, they've been corrected, with love, and still love it here. All have said, it's better here as they know our values, and don't want us to change, even if they don't agree.

"Grah nah Pah dah no" is a kind of parmesan. Great video! You can use almond extract instead of liquor in the Tiramisu.

I love a Sunday dinner 🍽 ❤ we used to do the traditional British dinner of Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding, mash potatoes,gravy, and some side.. beans, corn, peas. I loved it, we would have Apple Crisp or Rice Pudding for dessert. Hello Aaron, lol Jess, I love your scissors ✂️, lol. Excellent video. Take good care!! 😊

I grew up with big Sunday dinners and continued that with my children as they married.Now, not everyone lives close by and they are all so busy those dinners with the entire family needs planning. Sometimes it's a Friday night homemade pizza. So important to keep them close. Jessica, your dinner looks delicious, each course lovingly made for your family.

Everything looks so delicious!! I want to come eat Sunday night dinners! Lol. I admire you and your husband doing the Sunday dinners with your children. Children grow up so fast, you blink and they are grown with lives of their own. When my son graduated highschool and joined the Navy it took me over a year before when someone came to visit I had stopped trying to feed them... Yeah I have empty nest syndrome so bad.

I don't use mascarpone anymore because of the price of that cheese. I use cream cheese that i mix with a little lemon. Nobody tasted the difference. Just sharing this trick with you,.

Never, ever rinse the pasta. It takes away the starch which holds the sauce. Also, ever add anything to the pasta water except salt. Never any oil. I see so many people do that. Italians are turning over in their graves. lol.

Your bread recipe do i have it right
2 Crusty no knead loaves
6 c flour
4 tsp instant yeast
2 tsp salt
3 c water (start with 1/2c shy)
Pinch of garlic and rosemary
Mix then first rise 40 minutes or until doubled...
Divide in two...
After shaping place on parchment covered with light flour dusting... placed in baking dish...
Rise again until doubled again. Mean while Put 2 cast iron pots in a cold oven
Then preheat to 450 degrees ...then bake for 30 min with lid then remove lid and continue to bake 15 plus minutes!
Then fresh herb butter
2 soft sticks(1c total)
Little chopped fine rosemary
Sage fine
Thyme fine
Shallot fine
Pressed garlic
2 basil leafs
Shape and mold butter refrig

As far as bread goes that link is a good bread.
As far as the butter that’s just what I do and I change it up just add things that will be yummy on the bread.
I add things to the bread anything like herbs and I have added jalapeño and cheese. It’s a basic bread and I add things from that.

The pellet stove went out. The wood stove on the basement is a dream. But it’s so nice out we have not had to run it much, (now we do but at the time of the video)
