- A Memorial Day Tribute before the start of the Indy 500 (05-26-13). Includes The National Anthem of The United States of America, The Star Spangled Banner as performed by Sandi Patty, Taps, and a 21-gun salute. I don't usually post Indy 500 clips but I just had to as Sandi Patty is one of the greatest people on this earth today (and she has a great voice as well). Only hope ABC does not force me to remove it.

I remember Sandy Patti as a young kid she amazed me then and she still amazes me today! She still has an amazing voice.
I've have come across some from when she was younger but not sure where which videos I found them.
Sandi Patty sings at my church now! She sings every Sunday.

As rowdy as the 500 crowd usually is, I was absolutely stunned when they played taps. You could have heard a pin drop anywhere around the track. Glad that people still give the respect these fallen men and women deserve

THIS is the definitive version of our anthem. Why she hasn't been invited to sing at the super bowl is beyond me. Only criticism would be that her vibrato is a bit wobbly here.
Did the old announcer phipple die or did he retire from the PA at Indy because he would give the best speech before the playing of taps.
Love Sandi! She was one of my first divas. She needs, however, to work on her breath support. She is developing a wobble in her vibratto. And I am not hating, I am just making an observation.

The wobble in the vibrato is what did Charlotte Church in. She sang way too much at 13 to 16 that it hurt her voice. :-(
Maybe you can help me. I'm a vocalist searching for the amazing version of the Star Spangled Banner sung by Sandi back in the early 90s. I've scoured the internet and came up dry. The song has some of the original stanzas and it begins like this with a tender melody leading into the song...
One symbol unites us, a nation together in pray
One symbol of freedom echoed in hearts everywhere
One symbol of freedom, a banner of might and of will
Heroes held it up high in the past, heroes hold it still
Then it goes into one of the original stanzas, etc.
I've been trying to find this accompaniment version for years. I bought it back in the early 90s as a cassette but it's gone now. I have a singing engagement coming up soon and I expect to have many more in the coming months.
Can anyone help me find this accompaniment track, CD or download?
