I play mainly clean tones, and I'm looking for a valve amp in this price range (I know it's a hybrid, but I don't really care. It sounds tube enough for me) I use clean tones for jazzy, Johnny Marr type stuff. Is this a good choice for me? And if not, is there something better around the same price range?

Bantamp blue jay might be what you're looking for. Clean fender blues junior sound. Isn't bad with a good cab!

Damn Eric you do shred. You are a killer guitar player but I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that. Either way how does this amp clean up with the guitars volume knob?
It does clean up some. This amp really doesn’t want to be clean, and has little headroom, but it does definitely go from saturated to crunch, or from crunch to nearly clean
Eric, Stick a Groovetubes 12ax7 tube in your micro dark & it will sing!

Which 12 ax7? Groove Tubes doesn't make tubes, they rebrand other manufacturers'. Depending on which you bought, could've been Suguang, Sovtek or EHX.

I am new to this tube amp scene but I would really like one for recording/gigs etc. Would you recommend a Marshall MG Series MG412CF 4x12 cab with the dark terror or something else. I am not completely sure of the best set up for punk/metal, just let me know what you would say is the best cab for the dark
BORDERPOPO if you want a 4x12, don't settle for the cheap stuff. save up, and look on the used market for a decent one. orange ppc4x12, mesa recto, or even a marshall 1960 B. of course, this still pushes a ton of air with a 2x12 if 4 speakers is too big
MG cabs not only have crappy speakers, but their made of plywood,.....better cab not only have better speakers, but their also made of birch,......all 4x12 cabs with vintage 30's heritage or greenbacks are in cabs made of good wood, same goes for combos,...most s.s. combo amps are housed inside plywood,...it may seem like they're saving just a little expense, but corners are cut to make the product cheaper,...all you have to do is pick up a 2x12 MG and compare the weight to a 1x12 6505 combo,...the Peavey power amp, speaker and wood is heavier. My 6505 was heavy when I got it, once I upgraded the speaker, it became another 5 lbs heavier......also not the MG head is anything great,...but if you checked out vids of it played through a Marshall 1960AV cab, the sound blows away the sound of one through an MG cab.

Would you reccomend this amp over a line 6 digital? I'm thinking of going solid state instead of digital. Also does it have a lot of bass?
I got it and it's great. Soooo much low end thru my 4x12. It's also a hybrid. That was surprising when I saw that cute little JJ 12ax7

Line 6 makes some tube amps with digital effects, but once they start throwing in anything other than reverb, more transistors have been added,......I believe the Peavey XXX Super 40 combo has digital effects,...it's considered all tube, but just more shit go wrong on the amp, although I did hear the Super 40 is a great amp

They absolutely can. They sound best through a 4x12 in my opinion. You'll be surprised at how much volume these things actually pump out.

its 8 and 16 ohm the min ohms is 8 i have the same amp its pretty cool over all
That ball's man. It's either get the Micro Terror and I can *safely* run my 4 ohm cab and no FX loop (mandatory for me, not all pedals work/sound right in the preamp), or get the micro dark with an FX loop but risk blowing my amp!
Fuck they just need to make a hybrid between these.
