Finally got out to the Reward Mine today. This place is awesome. I have a full size GMC with a 6" lift and 35s so obviously I couldn't drive in. Ended up hiking in and explored all of the off-shoots. Pretty amazing. There's one spot I would've loved to go down into if I was hooked to a winch with a harness. Thanks for the amazing video.
Mike Arnold The first time we went there, about a year before this video, we didn’t go in.. But after thinking about it for the next year we finally worked up the courage!
NotaRubicon Productions I'll take your word that its all good. I'll still wait outside and have the burgers and beer ready when you all come out on the return trip...
The first time we visited Reward mine, we took pictures at the entrance, then walked in a few hundred yards, but didnt take the Jeep inside.. This time, we were fearless and drove all the way in. its so large it's not scary.
Right on. I'm from Fresno area and I've been planning to do that route. Fresno . Bakersfield. And the route going through Yosemite. Awesome. Thanks. I know I can definitely go through that.
Its all fun and games till u find a shaft with a 5 story tall rock sitting on the floor. Then it dawns on you that rock used to be the ceiling and you wonder if theres a Jeep under it.
That mine is considered a confined space by OSHA and MSA (Mine Safety Agency). You had many engines in there producing carbon monoxide probably without adequate air flow. VERY dangerous, you're lucky.
The air-flow through the mine via the large top vertical shaft at the rear is substantial, like a constant breeze that you can feel. This probably explains why none of the thousands of people that have driven their truck and Jeeps into it, sometimes, upwards of 10 vehicles at a time, have never, once, had a problem.
Significant cubic yards of air with upventing shaft at intersection area. Turn off engines when you arrive and you should feel the flow. Bring parakeets, when the birds fall asleep you should leave, lol. Don't worry, no animals were harmed during our testing, only humans. Nice video.
i had the same thought about engines in a confined space. Good to know about the vent. I still might bring one of those cheap CO detectors....i hang one in my tent whenever I run the propane heaters....
@@TheNotaRubicon I used 4lo once at a Christmas drive-thru and the car in front of me was going .3 miles an hour. lol Felt silly, but better than riding the clutch the whole time.
Great video, but you need to install some lights on your Jeep.. Picture was too dark.. I have 5 LED lights and 2 100Watt Halogens on the front of my JK.. Turns night into day....
Is there enough room for two way traffic
No
Amazing I added this to my never to do list
Thanks for this vid! Very cool place to visit, and also i have the same fender kit on my Rubi. You have a cool rig, and keep up the good Jeeping !

Awesome! Gonna have to add that to my bucket list!
Yes indeed, we will put this on our list of future runs. I believe Joe C. has already been here so he can lead us.
I drove my F-150 4X4 in all the way to its end with 4 men in the bed 12/28/2020. What a blast!
2019?

@@philcarreon4925 At least we know he made it out OK.
Free beer! Sounds like a trap.
That was one of the most awesome videos I've seen.
that looks fun!
Cool cave you should try to go all the way sometime.
This would freak me out. No way I could go in there and feel comfortable.
Cool vid 👍🏻 Any guesses as to what max height / clearance is?
lowest point I think is 6'10" near the entry, after that it gets high enough to put our antennas back up near the end.
No damn way I'm going into that!

Cool vid but I was wondering WHY on earth you were using 4wd low inside the mine. Smh. Thanks for the vid tho
I was in 4WD LO 2nd gear because it's narrow and I wanted to go slowly without stalling it.
Apologies if that makes you SYH .
NotaRubicon Productions some people don't understand 4lo isn't only to get unstuck.

The NotARubicon has the lights, just didnt have them on most of the time. at 3:05 we turned most on but never did turn on the front KC spots.
