Bought an icom 2730 ham radio without a license.then figured out it wouldn't work for my commercial bands I use at work. So I mars modded it and it works for everything now. Man I love the internet
I own 8 of these radios!! I will not be told how to or when to use “MY RADIO”!!! A license should be required before you’re able to buy them, if they expect to enforce it, otherwise shut the ham up!!! Love the content, keep putting the crybaby hams in their place! They truly are pathetic!
Handy Tip: Avoid stopping on a pedestrian bridge in Las Vegas to transmit on a GMRS or Ham radio, as doing so could lead to arrest. They don't care if you are licensed for the radio, they will arrest you for pausing on the bridge. ;)
The police are not gonna mess with the average tourist who stops on a bridge to take a picture. The law was put in place to curb the aggressive "street performers" and drug addicts that sit on the bridge and harrass you.

Not once in over 40 years of using 2 way radios have I or anyone I have known ever been busted by the FCC, and we used to do some pretty stupid stuff in the 80's & 90's.
I wrote my own drone pilots license out on a notice of failure to appear at jury duty and moved to New Jersey. Chris Christie gave me a box of Shrek Twinkies for my American Ingenuity.

If I transmit while on my dirtbike in the woods with my friends going 30mph and don't use the radio at all when at home can they really catch me? The transmissions started at point A if somehow you could trace the transmission it will go back to point A not follow me back on the bike 6 mile away by the time you get there. Also If let's say the radio had I sort of IP address leading it back to the radio how can you truly trace that I did it? You can't.
You have nothing to worry about. Unless you are causing some major interference for something like military or satellite communications and just using the radio for FRS or GMRS no one is ever going to care or even know.
Remember there is no such word as 'can't' in the dictionary. With the latest surveillance technology they are able to track people from birth to grave (and all bits between). Paranoia used to be an illness but now it is a reality. When they manage to automate the process it will be seamless. The only way to beat the system is to encourage more of your friends to do what you are doing.
@sharonjuniorchess yeah I get that but it's very hard to prove without a shadow of a doubt someone transmitted over the radio. Unless it's directly in front of someone that can hold you accountable. Like I definitely wouldn't do it on a UA-cam video.

I'm now 53 yrs old.. Have not broken even a traffic law (I am lying) in decades... IF some fed wants to try to hunt me down by triangulation (ETC), that might actually be fun like I was a child.. I own a bunch of blow-fangs (etc).. I haven't actually used them in a while outside of point to point, or IF I actually need to bounce off a repeater.. My disgust really comes down not to the vaggies @ the FCC.. It are the HAM community in general.. Getting licensed at ANY level isn't rocket science.. However, this little bottom feeder clique is ancient irritating.. I went to a club meeting a few years back where i now live and these guys rivaled, or exceeded, the most irritating gossip talk than even what is still covered as board lady soap operas.. I will NEVER jam up a freq... Be a punk taunting people.. However, cry me a river if I want or NEED to utilize other people's equipment (relays) and I don't call sign at all. Me too since 94. Keep It up to date. It's free. Allows you to have a scanner in your car. It is also a shared band on 10ghz. You could argue your radar detector is a 10ghz receiver. If you travel many areas are active.

I really don't see a problem with getting a license, GMRS is $35.00 no test and Ham license is also $35.00 plus $15.00 to VOC to take the test (easy). I mean people spend more on booze, ammo, or buying a tank of gas. Just my opinion.

CB used to be permitted and they got rid of that in 83. GMRS should be free too as it's the replacement for CB.

I really don't see a problem with getting a license, GMRS is $35.00 no test and Ham license is also $35.00 plus $15.00 to VOC to take the test (easy). I mean people spend more on booze, ammo, or buying a tank of gas. Just my opinion.
