This would have been a dream come true for Carrie. She grew up listening to Heart via her two sisters who were fans. Carrie's sisters would have been so proud of their baby sister. What a "goosebump" performance that was.
Ann Wilson IS the greatest female rock singer of all time. From the 70’s to now, her voice is still incomparable. Others that people think are close to her are Blondie, Marie Fredrikksen from Roxette, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin and Alanis Morisette.
I remember when Carrie sang this song on Idol and I think this was the moment she became the favorite to win Idol. For me and my wife, we were like "wow" and from that point on we believed she was going to win. Of course, we knew this song by Heart because we both grew up listening to Heart.
Such a great performance and loved your honest reactions. I was 15 when Heart released Alone as a single in 1987. It went to number 1 on Billboard and MTV, was nominated for a Grammy and was named the best song of 1987 by Rolling Stone & Billboard and the RIAA.
I was at the taping of this show. One thing that was different live than on this video is that Ann was almost twice as loud as Carrie when they alternated the last "Alllloooonnnneee!" at the end. It was very noticeable, but in the studio magic they clearly adjusted the levels. Carrie has many times mentioned that Ann is one of her idols as a singer. Lots of female country singers for some reason like Heart and site Ann as an influence even though the hard rock genre of Heart is very different. Gretchen Wilson (no relation to Ann) has always sung a couple of Heart covers in her shows, and Wynonna Judd calls Ann and Nancy Wilson her "sheroes" and had them on as guests on her Crossroads show.
The difference in volume levels is due to the difference in the power of projection. Anne Wilson is a beast. Pay attention to how much further Anne is from her microphone, and is still almost drowning Carrie out. Nothing at all bad about Carrie, she's awesome. It's just Anne Wilson is a powerhouse pretty much on a level of her own.
Carrie sang Alone on American Idol. Simon Cowell told her after hearing her that she would win the contest and sell more records than any other idol contestant. She also did it on the Ihart radio show.
Back in the 80s, there was a band that went by the name of "Asia” (1982)-“Heat of the Moment,” “Sole Survivor,” “Only Time Will Tell,” “Wildest Dreams.” I enjoyed the music. You should check them out.
Love Heart!! Princesses of ROCK! The Official Video is completely different, you get the power of Heart in the official. Ann Wilson's voice is almost unparalleled. Love Carrie as well. Agreed Asia, would have preferred the more upbeat version.
It makes no sense! Heart has been reacted to so much without being blocked! One that is a must see is Live : Alone/These Dreams & Straight On. Y’all have to witness it!
When Linda runs that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also Kennedy Center Honors, Carrie Underwood saying for her on both occasions. You should check those out. She definitely adored Linda Ronstadt
Ann Wilson was just unbelievable. Ann was older in 2006 and even here shes still great and she used to be even better when she was younger. So supremely talented.
Ann Wilson is the best voice in Rock music for the last 40yrs or so. Doesn't matter male voice , or female voice nobody comes anywhere near Ann as far as power , range , and control is concerned.
I got her, Linda Ronstadt, and Mama Cass in a 3 way tie with a slight edge to which one I’m listening to at the time. Grace Slick deserves honorable mention as well.
The guitar player is Ann's sister Nancy. Seattle is so proud of our band! Heart is from Seattle and the house near my elementary school is still called "the drummer from Hearts house" lol
It's always cool seeing an older artist joined onstage by the person who has covered them and being gracious about it - it'd be easy for one of them to make it an ego thing, but when they're being magnanimous like this, it's just so satisfying.
Hey you two UA-cam Sensations!!! The song by Heart you NEED to react to is their cover of Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore". The version from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert from 1995 is excellent as is the one from Seattle in 2003! Cheers!!
I saw them live at Canada’s Wonderland 30 years ago, unbelievable how she sounds live. Definitely no autotune back then! One of the most epic days of my life, I’ll never forget
Ohhhh this song and Magic man are my jams just love them and I have to give you both mad props cause you 2 have great positive energy and you are sending it out when we need it most😍🤙
I was a teenager in the 70’s when Heart started out and I always loved the Wilson Sisters and Heart. Carrie Underwood has some pipes too! Nice reaction 👍
I think this was actually the finale preformance, I know she preformed with heart in the finale, they used to do that on the finales of idol, all the singers would preform with idols of theirs.
All three women are beautiful and really talented Carrie did this on American Idol. There is a video of Ann and Nancy singing with Wynonna Judd it was on a show called Country cross over with Rock. Also on the show Country there's Pat Benatar and Martina McBride.
Heart ❤️… and Carrie- go on ahead girl… if Anne and Nancy put you on that stage- you’ve made it. Those ladies don’t fool around- they are real. No auto tune…. Live.❤️
Carrie sang Also be on American Idol as one of her solo performances. So she win idol. Became a huge cross over country and pop artist and then sings this live with the one and only Anne Wilson. Pretty fairy tale end ng for Carrie.
Ya'll "gotsta" do the Gretchen Wilson/Alice in Chains collab of "Barracuda." It's from some kinda VH1 "Honors" Heart show or something like that. They CRUSHED it...
I was in a bar several years ago and, as usual, was hitting on this bartender that I liked there. This song was playing and they were at the part where they keep repeating the "how do I get you alone; how do I get you alone" so I go to the bartender, "not only how do I get you a loan; how do a get you a good interest rate ON that loan". I still didn't get a date (obviously) but I did get a laugh out of her which was nice.
Carrie is a HUGE Wham! fan. Ann Wilson never lost it, she makes it look effortless. I agree that Carrie did a phenomenal job on AI, I've always been picky about Heart covers but she blew me away, chuckle chuckle.
Forget the tear jerkers and listen to heart get vicious on IF LOOKS COULD KILL. Play the studio version from their self titled LP from 1985 or 86'. Nasty vocals and guitar! 🎤🎸🔥🔥
If you wanna check out another song with Carrie you should check out Carrie and Steven Tyler at the CMA’s duet together It will be two songs back to back. Undo It and Walk This Way are the songs.
Ann Wilson, still got it. What a voice!
Carrie did great....Ann.....MY GOD. Her voice is unparalleled.... best female in American rock history... period.
This would have been a dream come true for Carrie. She grew up listening to Heart via her two sisters who were fans. Carrie's sisters would have been so proud of their baby sister. What a "goosebump" performance that was.
This was great. Ann, Nancy and Carrie all on stage at once. That’s pretty amazing.
Heart is still out there, see them in concert every year. They still get it done.
This performance was in 2005 on American Idol. All I’ve got to say is Ann & Carrie killed that song! OMG… two power houses!!!
❤️❤️❤️

Probably one of the most powerful female voice in the 80s in the soft rock genre.
Such a great performance and loved your honest reactions. I was 15 when Heart released Alone as a single in 1987. It went to number 1 on Billboard and MTV, was nominated for a Grammy and was named the best song of 1987 by Rolling Stone & Billboard and the RIAA.
Every time I hear this song in concert, chills.

Asia!!! Your smile through the whole song was like watching a kid on Christmas morning in freeze-frame. Love it!!
I saw Heart live in 2016 and Ann Wilson killed it. Great reaction. Peace
It makes no sense! Heart has been reacted to so much without being blocked! One that is a must see is Live :
Alone/These Dreams & Straight On. Y’all have to witness it!
What a voice. Not too many on that list as a female in rock. Stevie , Pat Benetar are some others.
Wow- Carrie’s voice sits perfectly in the pocket of that song! That was amazing!
When Linda runs that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also Kennedy Center Honors, Carrie Underwood saying for her on both occasions. You should check those out. She definitely adored Linda Ronstadt
my mom took to see Heart to an outdoor concert in 2009 it was the great
Ann Wilson was just unbelievable. Ann was older in 2006 and even here shes still great and she used to be even better when she was younger. So supremely talented.

Heart, just have ALL the Heart. It's a good thing.
It's great my favorite female group and my favorite female singer come together ❤️ couldn't asked for anything better 😜
I've heard A LOT of covers of this song, some truly excellent. But, Ann Wilson has always and will always OWN it. They can't touch her.
The guitar player is Ann's sister Nancy. Seattle is so proud of our band! Heart is from Seattle and the house near my elementary school is still called "the drummer from Hearts house" lol

I think they were The Lovemongers when they did that. Great version of that song!x

Oww I'm a fan of heart and I can't believe I've never this particular video...that gave me the goose bumps
Heart put out an acoustic album sometime in the 90's and it's awesome. Hard to find but it's worth looking.
They bring a tear to my eye every time I hear them sing 😂😂
I love Heart , I love Carrie . Absolutely beautiful
Here we have two of the greatest singers I’ve ever heard on one stage
I was a teenager in the 70’s when Heart started out and I always loved the Wilson Sisters and Heart. Carrie Underwood has some pipes too! Nice reaction 👍

This is the song that won American Idol for Carrie.
You can’t go wrong with heart
Damn that was great. I’ve seen it before but it’s great everytime
Ann Wilson❤
I wish they brought the rock for the back half. The drums generate so much power for this song.
You should check out the concert they did a few years ago with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Ya'll "gotsta" do the Gretchen Wilson/Alice in Chains collab of "Barracuda." It's from some kinda VH1 "Honors" Heart show or something like that. They CRUSHED it...

Amazing. She's 72 now
That's another version of this song, sung by Floor Jansen, singer of Nightwish. Please check it out.😃
