I enable the CC option just for that reason. I actually find that the engine noise is what drowns my voice out, and it’s much harder to normalize than the background music. Audio will always be a struggle, but I’m improving :)
Another great review, as always you make it look easy =) I'm glad you like the Lama too, it's really a step up from the Alouette, which was already extremly well done!
Great review, have had this since launch and completely agree with you on all of it. I'm a sim pilot as opposed to an actual pilot, but I feel we're thinking along the same lines. It's great having proper helicopter reviews on UA-cam from someone that knows what they're talking about 👍👍
Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you are enjoying the videos! Simulators have really come a long way in the last few years! Helicopters are really starting to come into their own in MSFS!
Beautifully videoed. Really like your style which is a lot like I try to do in my videos too. I havent played with helis yet. I fly RC ones but I have never flown a real full size one. You may have made me try them in MSFS. I subbed to you... :)
Great video, I would suggest you to try the update, we created a new flight model, I think it might address some of the points you raised in the video :) Cheers
Hi, thanks so much for your videos! I’m just starting out with helicopters in msfs and beginning to see what a steep learning curve it is. I’ve watched your videos on both the Taog’s Hanger Lama and Nemeth’s Schweitzer and like them both but am wondering which would be the easier (?!!!) for a beginner to handle. I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Best regards, Pete.
Hi Pete! Thanks for the feedback! I would start with the Lama over the Schweizer for addons. The Cabri G2 that is free with the 40th Anniversary Edition is the best place to start. Check out my How to Helisim series I’m working on. MSFS How to Helisim ua-cam.com/play/PL7yKmv0KsAo1RwSX8kOJfFAQwL1nwA0_F.html
Hi, thanks for your helpful thoughts and the three great training videos! I’ve started with the lama and fully realise there is a LOT of practice to be done. No problem, I’m many years retired and have time and am very happy to learn 🙂. One thing I’m finding helpful with the lama is having the antenna enabled in the EFB … it sits right in front of you and is super-helpful as a sighting aid. Thanks again and please keep the videos coming. Be well. Pete.
Another enjoyable video - I like your style, and I hope you will make more of these. A question about your VR view, and I am not a VR-user yet... I'm not quite sure of the right word, but it seems your view is a little abrupt, or jumpy, or lacking in smoothness. Does this bother you in the sim? Or does the brain and the eyes compensate for it? I use TrackIR head tracking, and I am able to smooth it out a bit. Are you able to do something similar in VR? Or is it just not necessary?
I use the sim in VR exclusively. It is smooth, as long as your system can run it in VR smoothly. That jumping you see is just the recording. VR helis are a game changer.
It’s smooth when viewing it in the headset. The video also exaggerates the movement since it is zoomed in and cropped to fill the widescreen format. Videos don’t do VR any justice. You have to experience it to truly understand. It’s a game changer. It’s really like being in the cockpit.
Since you are my reference as a real helicopter pilot, can you tell me what would be the most realistic sidestick settings for flying helicopters on MSFS? THANKS! PS: I find your music a little too loud for your calm, pleasant and relaxing voice ;-)
That’s a tough question. I find that placement is what matters to me most for realism. You need to have your joystick between your legs so you can rest your arm on your leg and use fingertip control. It’s also best to remove the centering spring. @PGatcomb has a good video on control setup for short throw controllers. I use a Pro-Flight Trainer Puma 1:1 control set. ua-cam.com/video/qWGidT0N55c/v-deo.htmlsi=m4Twn0eAmFms3Eh4
Cool helicopter. I've been practicing a lot in the bell 407 how do you slow flight without tilting the helicopter too far forward when you're coming into land. I struggle with that. When I tried to move to the helipad it's very difficult to control
Bonjour! Good morning! “Too much sensitivity” in pitching is not characteristic of this helicopter, even if this stability remains delicate in reality. This phenomenon of pitch sensitivity remains for me the main fault of Taog's nevertheless excellent productions!
It's much improved for me in the V1.1 version. I'm using 1:1 full size Pro-Flight Trainer Puma controls, no curves. It feels pretty good now. I need to run it through some circuits, steep and shallow approaches and some quick stops. The Alouette III feels really good in these maneuvers, I'm hoping the Lama does as well.
Thanks for the feedback! It all depends on my mood when I’m editing the videos. I may do some without music if I can get a reliable setup for recording voice in realtime while I’m flying in VR.
@@Belatu42 I just like to add my comment...I would like to see your next video without music to see if there is improvement. You have a nice calm soothing voice to listen to, but the background music and the engine noise were a bit too much to hear your speaking some of the time. Since the sound of the engine is a must have, maybe give it a try without music. I realized you mentioned above that one can use the CC option, but I would rather watch you fly than read subtitle. Nevertheless, great flying as usual. Cheers!
Interesting video👍🏻.... but turn down the volume on the "back"ground music audio channel... and add a tad of volume to your voice audio channel.
I enable the CC option just for that reason. I actually find that the engine noise is what drowns my voice out, and it’s much harder to normalize than the background music. Audio will always be a struggle, but I’m improving :)

Great video,
I would suggest you to try the update, we created a new flight model, I think it might address some of the points you raised in the video :)

Thanks for the feedback! I just took the V1.1 for a spin and it is much improved in all the areas I had mentioned. Great work!

@anthonywillmin4189 great! Yeah, the sight picture is everything. Keep looking out. Don’t focus close in to the helicopter.
Very Nice Vid Keep Up The good Work
Thanks! We are really enjoying a tech boom in simulation right now! So much fun!
would be nice to see blade flex implemented in MSFS
Blade flex is there, just not in the replay feature…
Great video thanks, do you use any of the MSFS Flight Assists on?
Thanks! No, I’m not currently using any assists

This heli is a pleasure to fly
The Lama is really well done! It’s already been updated to V1.1 and it addressed all the flight model points I mentioned in the video.
What a beautiful helo
It truly is! Taog’s Hangar did an excellent job with this one!

What extremity dead zone and sensitivity settings are you using for your cyclic?
Full linear, no curves or dead zones. pro-flight-trainer.com Puma
Does this have force trim like in other helicopters
I don’t know if the real one has any trim, but the beep trim in MSFS is there

Great video and insights, thanks! The background music is totally annoying and unecessary. Would be better without "music". Otherwise, great :)
