I always come back to it. Lived near the venue from 1991 to 1992 while at NYU and had the vhs tape of the gig. They peaked at Low Life and went somewhere else. Ain't mad, saw them 4 times back in the good ol' days. That's why I come back ...
An incredible, priceless piece of video showing the remnants of Joy Division picking themselves up and going in a brand new direction, not knowing just where they were headed...
@spirii I agree...it's still the ethos of Joy Division, transitioning to the electronica of New Order instrumentation. This is an incredible video archive of a masterpiece.
So much better than the recorded version from 'Movement', even with the mistakes. Steve drumming that pseudo-disco beat like a machine-amazing to watch and sounds great with Gillian's synth bassline filling out the mix. Watching Bernard finding his feet just adds to the charm :)
Je suis d'accord, leur premier album où ils faisaient encore une musique relativement proche de Joy Division est de loin mon préféré. Dommage que le morceau Age of Consent ne soit pas dessus, ce serait l'apothéose.
Kowbowski if I’m not mistaken it was a live taping for television in New York called Taras Shevchenko and that intro was apart of a long intro for television. I’m pretty sure you can find a whole bootleg of it on UA-cam.
Early New Order is the absolute bomb. This version kicks butt.

@@qwj68boots I don't think they peaked there. Possibly Technique or Republic but they still have it.
yes it does! no doubt about that!

This and Peter's solo at the end of The Perfect Kiss are unreal.

Just keep coming back to this live version. The best one if I do say so...
Steve is One of the greatest drummers out there!

They wanted it to sound like this on Movement but their producer screwed up.
@@Thunderchild-gz4gcMartin Hammett was always both a blessing and a curse for Joy Division and early New Order’s sound, IMO.
@@Thunderchild-gz4gc Dohh! a la homer simpson as that's Martin Hannett you steppin' on, mate.
This is such a good version!

Taras Shevchenko!! Awesome.....
Anyone know what that intro was about? Btw this band just fascinates me how advanced they sound for the time, morris on the drums though!
