The Inquisit Visit one of those Irv Spector specials. He designed, wrote and mostly animated those.

41:24 - MeTV Toons got the year wrong. “Mice Follies” from MGM was made in 1954. I think they mistake the year from Looney Tunes’ “Mice Follies” (1960).

The animation style for Richie Rich shorts reminds me of Johnny Bravo for some reason.

Cool. The voice of Timothy the Turkey in “Do or Diet” was that of Arnold Stang, most often associated with Herman the mouse in the Paramount shorts and of course many years later portraying “Top Cat” (1961) for Hanna-Barbera.

Wow!-or I should say-good gravy!-I guess I wasn’t the only one who mixed up two completely different cartoons as I was going on titles and memory alone without really revisiting and viewing them again…
The 1950 short “The Voice of the Turkey” is actually the one with Arnold Stang as a turkey (without name) using wise-guy tactics to drive the poor farmer (Sid Raymond) crazy, as he seems to do on an annual basis!
Sid Raymond ironically does a complete role reversal later as the turkey in the 1953 Casper short “Do or Diet” which has a similar premise of a turkey (Timothy, this time) being prepped for the big occasion, with Jack Mercer (usually heard as Popeye) doing misc voices and Casper tries to encourage Timothy to attempt dieting to escape the fate. Alan Shay, an actual youngster who did an English foxhound student in another short as well as misc characters, did Casper’s voice here…otherwise Casper was usually voiced by various female voice-over talents, like Cecil Roy (who did Lilttle Lulu and lived to be 94!) and Mae Questel (Betty Boop, Olive Oyl, Billy in Casper shorts, many others).
It’s easy to mix these two cartoons up and their vocal line-ups as the two shorts have a similar concept, but the two turkeys are quite different. Good thing that these shorts are available for viewing and they are both equally entertaining as part of the Harveytoon legacy. We should all give thanks-wordplay intended!

The recognizable voice of Timothy the Turkey in “Do or Diet” (1953) was indeed that of Sid Raymond, most often heard as the voice of Baby Huey and the voice most frequently (but not always used) as Katnip, who appeared with Herman the mouse and Buzzy the crow. Sid ironically had previously done the farmer prepping a Turkey for Thanksgiving in another short called “The Voice of the Turkey” (1950) which would pair him up with Arnold Stang, who did a perfect turkey character in that short. In “The Voice of the Turkey” he was not on a diet but rather was using all types of wise-guy tactics to drive that poor farmer crazy! Again, as irony would have it, Sid switched roles completely to become the “voice of the turkey” himself for “Do or Diet” (1953).
Arnold Stang was often associated with Herman the mouse in the Paramount shorts (others filled in if necessary) and of course many years later portrayed “Top Cat” (1961) for Hanna-Barbera. He also did a lot of other cartoon voice work (including the unusual but somehow pleasing feature film “Pinocchio in Outer Space”)and many on-camera appearances and ads (“Chunky-what a chunk o’ chocolate!”) plus he had almost an Oscar-winning performance alongside Frank Sinatra in “The Man with the Golden Arm”. I met Mr Stang when I lived in NY and he was quite a charming character! A friend of mine, the late Richard Concepcion, once interviewed Mr Stang and apparently he said he had put so much Phil Silvers initially into Top Cat’s voice that he was at one point given the directive to “put back in more Arnold Stang!”

No, it was Sid Raymond doing Timothy’s voice. He also voiced Katnip and Baby Huey.

@@13thwho You’re right-I was initially going by title only without viewing the actual cartoon-I was actually mixing “Do or Diet” (1953) up with its predecessor “The Voice of the Turkey” (1950) which had Arnold Stang as the turkey (without a name) and as irony would have it, Sid Raymond as the farmer prepping him for Thanksgiving. I have edited my original comment to make sense of it all. Thanks for catching that and-good gravy- I’ve learned my lesson not to jump to a conclusion by title only without viewing the actual cartoon being shown!
I’m really grateful that these Paramount and “Harveytoons” are once again being presented on tv although it may be a while before most cable providers will start to be carrying “MeTV Toons”…I am only getting Me TV so for now I’m going on whatever dvds have been released (thank goodness for that Harveytoon Show collection!) plus whatever is being thankfully uploaded on You Tube!
