Just stumbled across this video; I was unaware of the Wand company's attempt to produce a WORKING tricorder! As someone who has worked in electronics manufacuring (as a production debug technician, troubleshooting products that camo off the production line & did NOT work as they were supposed to), I found it absolutly amazing that they were actuallly attempting to make something that was intially intended as a TV science - fiction show prop to actual FUNCTIONING life! 😲 The engineering drawing shown & production issues described were amazing!
I hope they are actually able to pull this off, 🙂

@@TrekFanNCC-1701I wonder if it would be possible to add even more features to a tricorder. Like a Geiger counter and a few other odds and ends. Really make it useful, kind of like a real tricorder would be.
Fascinating video on the process. Love learning about things I know nothing about. Also, of course, now I want one. This video and its description of the cost of production and attention to details of functional accuracy clearly make me see the value of the price. This ain't no Playmate toy. Thanks Jerry.

I think my computer is spying on me. I _just_ charged up my Wand Company Communicator after several years of it sitting on the shelf. I was so thrilled when I got it! It's still a marvel. Not a very practical Bluetooth device, but a ton of fun!

I am a 56 year old die hard Trekie...I have the communicator, phaser and glow rock among my John Long communicator and p1 phaser in actual Ron Shenko p2 shells..I have registered a long time ago and eagerly await this last item of the landing party set.
This looks to be the jewel of my collection !!!!!

As someone who’s been a life long TREKKIE and collector or props and replicas I don’t know how I was unaware of this product until this week!
While I’m sure MANY are disappointed for the LOOOOOOONG wait, I’m THRILLED!
This is SURE to be one of the best TOS prop replicas EVER, if not THE BEST...
Which I’m equally as sure will easily and QUICKLY, fetch 3-5x its original price on the collectors market and out of reach for many...Including myself.
Happy this has been delayed and I didn’t miss out...I HOPE!

When I saw the thumbnail I ran to my inbox, my heart fell when I couldn't find a Feb 21 update- then I watched the vid. Ok now, still waiting though and it's not encouraging that there has been no update in such a long time.
Well in Update Sixteen when they told us about Greg Jein's passing, they said they were close to production. Hang in there my friend. I think this will be worth the wait. =-)
@@TrekFanNCC-1701 I vaguely remember that they said there was a holdup with shortage of electronics parts, or an availability of chips, but, that was many months ago. I'm anxiously looking forward to this to complete my Wand Trifecta- Communicator/Phaser/Tricorder

It's a very clever move by TWC to create this as they are sure to sell even more phasers and communicators as well. I have the communicator and still use it as my main bluetooth accessory.
Yes, this will complete the Hat Trick! The only better versions in my opinion are the actual props from the 1960's used in the Original Television Series!
They have done great so far, though I hope they change out the low quality LCD screen for either an OLED or an AMOLED screen. This will make the product far more enjoyable.
And I am easily willing to pay $600 for this product, especially if it includes an OLED screen.
I hope that it won't be that high. But yeah, I agree, I will probably pay what it costs to get one. =-)
I think a lower quality screen will suit, the time period better
I registered for it, but have my doubts it will ever come out. It's just been soooooo long, and I just don't think they have the money to produce them. But I do hope we all see it.
I think it will be worth the wait. I remember how long it took for the TOMY 1/350 USS Enterprise, and it was definitely worth the wait. =-)
I signed on at the very first , the last update I have (16) was almost a year ago ... a year without any news is pretty disheartening 😞
Perhaps the death of Greg Jein had more of an effect on the project that was initially thought.
Signed up to purchase one when it's finally available for sale, but understand the delays what with supply chain issues, etc. The Star Trek Shop isn't offering your ST OS communicator. The OS phaser is sadly for now, not available.😢 Please please make more.🙏 Wish I'd known about your company years ago, doh! Will remain patient and vigilant.

It has been a while since the last update. But sadly, there hasn't been a new one as of yet.
Moire' is pronounce Mwa-rae. It is a French word, Moi is Mwa as in the French word for me, the re is accented with an accent aigu giving the e a long a sound.

@@TrekFanNCC-1701 I just purchased a communicator and even they are expensive $325.00 I guess it's worth it if the wand company is never going to make them again.$900.00 is just a little too much for the phaser lol.I can't wait until the tricorder comes out.

I have been monitoring the Wand Company website watching out for the Tricorder; but it was your video that got me to dig deeper in the Blog area where I learned that I could sign up for and get a certificate of Interest to Purchase the Tricorder, thus placing me on a list to be notified as soon as its released! I have 2 sets of the Phaser and Communicator and plan on 2-sets of the Tricorder. BUT - I hope they also come out with the Medical Tricorder too!

I would get me a bootleg tricorder but the dude making SNW tricorder is making an excellent device but he is wanting latinum bars for it and latinum is very low in my house.
I'm not so sure the Wand Company will produce the Tricorder that I've been waiting for for 2 years at least.
There have been several delays in the production process. However, I am still hopeful.

Regarding the use of the M4 screws. Sometime in the 21st century the metric unit system will be abandoned because of its fundamental flaws. Primary of which is that it is base 10. You cannot establish a system of units in which its base has more than one prime factor. The IPS system factor is base 2. The SI system factors are 2 and 5. A base two, unit system is superior in many ways including that orders of magnitude are uniform regardless of scale. Computers also work better when the unit system is base two, for instance, calculate in binary the unit 0.1. The answer is 0.0001100110011001101. Using an IPS system; 1/2 = 0.1, 1/4 = 0.01. 1/8 = 0.001. 1/16 = 0.0001. For every increase in order of magnitude, there is a corresponding increase in number of digits of precision. A truly elegant system. Sometime soon it will be realized that the SI system was created just to be different and dumbed down for people who count on their fingers.
