This is super cool! I wonder how this effect would also look with LED's shining through. Probably wouldn't be as strong, but it might give off a cool effect!
This is awesome!!! Did you use a primer and protective coat at the end by chance? Im planning to make a purple-chrome visor, hopefully itll work out with all the layers of purple candy and chrome but not sure if those extra coats would affect the color😬
Tried this with looking glass, and it just shot out like a hose, vs lightly like it looks in this video. it seemed to spray in speckles vs a nice clean spray... I was so bummed. can't see anything through the visor now. maybe the nozzle on it is broke or something... I don't know... going to try again... need to find something cheap to test with first.
I’m trying to make a Mandalorian Visor. But I want clear Vision from the inside of the helmet and have it dark and black on the outside. Can this be achieved with this method?
is it possible to do something like this with different colors? I am interested in trying something like this for one of my own projects. is it possible to do colors like Red or Blue?
This may seem like a silly question, but if I put LEDs right in front of a chrome visor made with this technique, would the light reflect off it or would it create some transparent spots?
if the light was on the OUTSIDE it would act like a mirror. It would reflect the bright point. If the light is on the INSIDE, it would look semitransparent.
@@ManicQuinn I tried dying it before chroming, you can check it in the attached vid. The effect is pretty cool, but I'm still looking for a better option to metalize it. Spray paint just doesn't have the uniformity I'd like. ua-cam.com/video/B22pOmOu8SI/v-deo.html
Is there any reason why the spray goes on the inside? Planning to do this but I would assume you spray the outside of the mask so that there's no risk of breathing in any paint residue over time.
Does this work with almost any silver spray paint? I can’t find a similar brand of Mirror Effect Chrome sprays in Korea and it’s really difficult. The only result that popped up on Coupang is this brand called “Molotow Urban Fine Art Special Series Effect Chrome”. Will that work if used exactly like in the video? If not, please reply with a good alternative that is accessible maybe in Korea or online stores? 😊
Sure. You could spray the inside surface with a clear tint. Krylon makes some great ones. And then spray your silver as I show. I can't see why that wouldn't work.
Doing red hood for halloween and this is perfect for the visor
same idea but im all new to this, any tips?
Really appreciate you sharing these tricks of the trade with us. Awesome to see your various processes.
My pleasure
Wow, I can't wait to try this out. I've used the spaz stix airbrush paint before but never tried the spray can.

that’s really good chrome effect
how’s the vision at night? through these materials?
Great! I have a motorcycle helmet but it looks stupid being able to see your face through it. Or maybe I hate the sight of my own face. Lol.
Great. Thanks. I will surely do it for my android project.

Could you try revells chome?
Thankyou so much for sharing this!!
Cool! What about blackout visors
you would use a different technique for a black visor. Use the fabric dye technique (idye) There's many vids on this on youtube)

Automotive tint helps
Great info man!!!
so is there a way to do this but instead of chrome its flat white or another solid color?
So I make Halloween characters for a haunt I work at is it possible to use something like this as a base for foam/clay?
sure, the visors are really stiff, I use 1/8th thick plastic
Does this product already come with a sealent in the spray, cause i would worry about breath fog, humidity, sweat, and touch rubbing the paint away.
sure you could seal it. Buy a clear spray at dome depot. (not included)
Do you have a link to these visors? They seem fairly solid and not as flimsy as some I’ve found.
Yes ,sir. They are very THICK! It's here: goldenarmor.com/helmet-clear-visor-blank
Can this work with other colors like black
Would this still work on a black or white surface since u mentioned it is for glass and see through surfaces?
I'm not really sure, I've only tried this technique on clear parts.
@@chaucer44 thanks for your feedback!
Great video!!! There are a few different types of spray by the same brand out there, what was the spray you used?
I got the best result form spaztix
How do I get this paint if I'm outside of the US? I'm from Argentina
What kind of polish did you use on the interior?
None
does this also works on glasses lens too?
Can't see why not
What about an all white lense
what plastic is the visor itself? i need a white visor and i think this would be perfect
Petg plastic

Absolutely. Any color of the rainbow you want. These can be colored with the new series of krylon transparent spray paints.
Does it wipe off?

@@chaucer44 THANK YOU! That really helps for my project!
Is there a way of producing the see through effect with a solid non-reflective color?
You can do this in black and other colors with dyes but it doesn't appear as opaque.
@@chaucer44 What happens when you dye a mirrored finished visor?
@@ManicQuinn you should probably dye it first then mirror it.

The chrome effect is INTENSIFIED when viewed from the opposite side of the clear material. It's not nearly as 'chrome' when painted on the outside.
@@chaucer44 ahh ok, that's why! Brilliant, thanks for your response. I may be buying from you in the future :)
Hi where can I buy the white mask?

Any experience with this on colored plastics? Dyed, not painted.

Worked for me. :) ua-cam.com/video/B22pOmOu8SI/v-deo.html
does it still work without a protective sheet
