So I tested it today and I can conclude that it's the exact same stuff as Molotow. It looks the same and it smells the same. This can is perfect for fast and hassle free apliance and it costs pretty much the same as a Molotow refill bottle although I suspect the latter will cover more but has the downside that if you don't use it within 6 to 10 months time it will lose it's magic.
The best "chrome" look you can get without a vacuum deposition chamber (same method used by model manufacturers), is silver nitrate. It's a two-stage process where you spray the part with silver nitrate "primer", then hit it with activator, then rinse with distilled water.
For that price I’d probably decant it. I wouldn’t want to waste the rest on the overspray. You’d get a lot more from it too than the similarly priced tiny bottle of Gaia chrome.
I just got it before Christmas and will be sanding or stripping the chrome off the plastic water and ice dispensers on refrigerator Jenn air already replaced with new and I’ll decant and airbrush after first using primer then black gloss paint then the Revell
I think this is the 1st video of yours I clicked on that's not 2+ years old! Super impressed with this product. I'll be sharing this video in my Makers groups. Lots of happy Mando cosplayers I'm sure!
I am *incredibly* interested in how the Revell takes to candy colors. That 'dipped' chrome look is exactly what I've been looking for when it comes to replicating the plated look for kits like the Phenex. If you get a chance to try Sunin7's acrylic gloss over Revell's chrome, I've had good luck with it not harming the chrome look too much.
No issues with the durability of the AK Super Chrome. Painted a set of wheels, let them sit over night, and they were good to go the next day. They took normal handling like a champ. It hand paints pretty good as well.
Do you think its better than the airbrushing options? What about decanting it? Worth it or use an airbrush ready product. (Favorite Ive used is the Dspiae) But this Seems to be a pretty good option! I was worried about it being durable enough for assembly handling and looks like it would.
I’d say this is more of a convenient option, especially for those who aren’t into airbrushing yet. It does a really good job of making a mirror-like finish at the convenience of a rattle can. The convenience of not setting up for airbrushing is what adds to the price I would say.
I used Tamiya Black and Spaz Stix and had mixed results. Some pieces got a good chrome finish and some came out hazy. I found that as long as the bare plastic was glossy (RG Sinanju in my case), it'll come out chrome. I had to polish the hazy parts.
Wow, that looks great and seems like you can handle it without the color coming off on your fingers. I wish they make a great protector spray so you can spray the chrome to protect it for a very long time without it dulling out its shininess of it.
I had heard people hyping up that Revell Chrome, but I have always been let down how tough it was to use all the other stuff like spaz stix. I had good luck with small stuff with Molotow, but this revell stuff seems like a game changer

I have a 1950's Porsche 356A hubcap I'm removing rust from using evapo rust. The original chrome plate now 85% rust is gone is like a mirror. A very educational video, I guess that old saying is true, you get what you pay for. For me as with other comments I would most likely use this for aftermarket resin wheels. Thank you!
Came here from another page that recommended this as the best of the best, and it is from what I see. Why is there no alternative? Obviously the paint cartels are holding out. You would think China would have something comparable on the market by now. Waiting over a month to get a small can of paint? I want this for painting real world items, not models.
Ive tested every chrome out there for model building but I wouldn't recommend them for real cars. I will be testing an auto chrome in a couple of weeks so look out for that. Not cheap though, it's $70 a bottle
Thats some nice chrome it looks like its worth the cost. For car models it would probably last a long time since you don't generally chrome too many parts and they tend to be small.
Yes, my understanding is also that for lexan car bodies, you spray everything from the inside. Chrome first, then black on top of the chrome. I don't think spraying chrome on one side, then black on the other side will give the same effect. I don't think the chrome surface finish will be as shinny. (but I'm a rookie.)
@@barbatosrex9473I bought a can, but it turned out to not be durable at all for my application. (Painted a guitar body) I couldn't touch it without leaving fingerprints all over it no matter how long I left it to dry, and like you mentioned, clearing it killed the chrome look. Oh well, I learned an expensive lesson. 😛
Even months later this is out of stock everywhere. In the USA the only way I see to get it is to pay 85 a can for it on ebay. I was willing to give it a go at 40, but 85 is simply too rich for me :(
@Fido Montoya Just an example from my last build, the 1/48 scale F/A-18E: Details not accurate to the real aircraft, general fit and design were not up the likes of Tamiya for instance. Required a lot of sanding and filling with subsequent rescribing of details lost in that process. Shallow and unsharp panel lines and rivets, making it very difficult for the wash to sink in and stay where it was supposed to stay while removing the excess wash. There are no decals for missiles and bombs, and in my opinion, too light colors on some of the decals provided. Instructions on how parts on, for instance, the landing gear, were supposed to go on lacked in detail, and mounting points in the landing gear bay were very uncertain and required some educated guesswork to be fitted.
This may be the solution for my resin kit chrome needs...bumpers, wheelcovers, etc. The more I see of this stuff, the more I like it.
17:19 that looks like a factory plated piece. Absolutely impressive.

It's average like the others. But when you clear it, it no longer looks like Chrome
Spaztics chrome over Tamiya black as well too.
Even months later this is out of stock everywhere. In the USA the only way I see to get it is to pay 85 a can for it on ebay. I was willing to give it a go at 40, but 85 is simply too rich for me :(
Add it to your notification at Mega Hobby and they will let you know when it is in. It came in recently but it sold out in a hour
The revell paint was much better than I expected, perhaps the best I've seen. Although it should be good at that price range
If only their models were as good as this paint 😊
@@VNAV_PTH I think Revell make some really good models. What is the issue with them?
@Fido Montoya it's a little bit hit and miss with Revell. Some are decent, but most are trash. Lots of fitting issues.
68 Charger R/T model is horrible fitment.@@xanderguldie
