There definitely be another Secretariat. He had a genetic mutation called factor x, which gave him a heart which was almost 3 times the size of a normal thoroughbred's heart, which gave him the ability to pump blood through his lungs to his perfectly built body and legs. Like a Pavarotti.

Hey guy, 2 of secretariats' record have been broken, not in triple crown competition but, they have been broken, the only one remaining is the belmont stakes and, big boy was right by the rail from the start to the end which is the shortest way around any track. Go watch the freakin race. Sec owns just one world record, kelso might just own one too but, look at all kelso did that lot of horses still haven't done. Like only 3 horses ever won the whitney, thee woodward and, thee jockey gold cup in one year, kelso is the only freakin horsey to pull that elephant out of his ass 2 times in a carear!!!!! That's just scratching kelsos' surface. Kelso was and, is the greatest racehorse of all-times and, no horse acomplished more, beat more champions, more international champions and, more hall of famers than any other freakin horse. You will be mind boggeled like I am. I find some things hard to believe, I waas too young in the 60s' to know just how great he really was. When he won his 3 horse of the year award there were many experts saying that he was the greatest horse of all-times. He won 2 more, that's 5 and, Ed Bowen told me he might have won 6 had some dust not got in one of his eyes of which his owner Mrs. Dupont said, he almost lost his eye. Waht more did kelso have to prove? No horse acomplished more, go look it up, he won more different stake races than any other race horse, also. Won the whitney 3 times, the woodward 3 times and, won the jockey gold cup 5 times and, that' when the gold cup was 2 miles, it's not even 1 mile and a half anymore. Nobody wants to carry weight fr 2 mile man. The longer you carry weight the more it starts to weigh, common sense right? Right. Don;t tell me abut these bullshit sprinters carrying weight, tell them to carry it for 2 miles. Kelso lost to some horses in his later years because he was giving big weight to them, horses some people say he wouldn't have beaten the shit out of at equal weights, that's the price you pay though when you're a gelding and, you're good and, you gotta stick around. Kelso was something else. No horse will ever fair better. He was really tested to the max. Oh and, where was secretariats' 22 pound heart when he got his ass kicked 5 times? KELSOS' BIGGEST FAN.

Secretariat was of course a majestically beautiful horse, but Citation is also quite impressive in that regard, especially given that we're looking at film from 1948...I found very interesting Arcaro's comments about never having let Citation run (in the way that Secretariat was permitted to do in the Preakness and Belmont). He seemed to be expressing regret that perhaps Citation had a Secretariat-in-the-Belmont effort in him and we never got to see it.

There is no way to objectively compare Citation and Secretariat in a way that _proves_ that one is better than the other. On Citation's side of the ledger, he won 19 of 20 races as a 3 year old versus 9 of 12 for Secretariat and had 27 victories by the end of his 3 year old season versus 16 for Secretariat. There is no reason to believe that Secretariat had the ability to win anywhere close to as many races as Citation did in such a short time frame. That does not mean Citation was "better" than Secretariat. They were different.

Crazy cause at 4 he had to beat them giving away weight to them. They don't even have much handicap races anymore or, run 2 miles anymore. The longer you carry that weight the more it will weigh on you. Kelso only weighed 900 pounds and, at times carried 12pct of his body weight, that's more than forego who was a real big horse at 17. 2 hands and weighed about 1,300! Kelso was beyound everyone. Name another horse to break a record on dirt and, then just 11 days later break a record on grass and, in the races he did that in. No horse did more than kelso Bruce. Is that why Arcaro told Hirch that kelso would have beaten the shit out of cy. Oh, Eddie rode cy before cy got hurt. Kelso is in a class all by himself. Oh and, he suffered from colic pain all his life. They say he died from that, so kelso wasn't really a sound horse. Cy never won with more than 129 pounds. Sec's time was a perfect 12-clip. At distances less than 12 f, the records are less than a 12-clip. But with Sec's record that stops. Times are over a 12-clip.. Of course Secs record is only on dirt. Faster times have been run on turf. John Henry, Hawkster held the world's record at 2:22.4. That may have been broken.
I am more surprised that Sec's record has not been broken yet. 2:26 by Easy Goer is the closest. My tears are for Sham, who broke down in the race and finished last. Never to race again. Fractured bone.

Secretariat had faster times than Man-o-War at every distance. He not only won the Triple Crown, he set World speed records in all three races that still stans today!. Secretariat's win in the Gotham Stakes tied the track record for 1 mile, he set a world record in the Marlboro Cup at 1 1⁄8 miles, and won two major stakes races on turf. As far as "geing on the rail". in the Derby Sec was in the 9th post out of a field of 13. In the Preakness he was in the 3ed post out of 6. Red sis well with turns. The Derby turns are tighter than the Belmont that you keep referring to. His quarter times in the Derby were-
      0:25 1/5
      0:24
      0:23 4/5
      0:23 2/5
      0:23

The records suggest Secretariat was the greatest. His times were 1:59.4 in the Derby, 1:53.0 in the Preakness and 2:24.0 in the Belmont and all 3 are still track records. Citation's were 2:05.4, 2:02.4 & 2:28.2 respectively. Citation's Derby time can be 'forgiven', because the track was quite wet. As for Man 'O War, he didn't run the Derby and both the Preakness and Belmont were run at shorter distances. The best indication that Secretariat was faster is that he ran 1:53 over 1 3/16 miles in the Preakness and Man 'O War ran 1:53 over 1 1/8 miles in the same race. Two other facts supporting Secretariat's superiority to any horse is that he's the only Derby winner to ever break 2:00 and no Belmont winner has come within 2 seconds of his 2:24.0 record time. Based on his time Secretariat averaged 37.5 mph over the Belmont's 1 1/2 miles. 37.5 mph is 55 fps. A horse length is 8 feet, so the second fastest Belmont winner would have been about 14 lengths behind Secretariat.

You probably have NO clue or ever heard of the "Daily Racing Form" I'll wager. So let me help you, as an itinerate hani-capper OWNERS, TRAINERS AND JOCKEY'S are the worst handi-cappers, meaning, when talking about the jockey's, if they were NEVER ON THE BACK of a horse then there opinion is nothing more than subjective. In fact, when Eddie Arcaro was the color commentator for some of the horse races that were televised you could tell how poor a handi-capper he was. On the other hand, when the great jockey Bill Hartack (ever heard of him, probably not) replaced Arcaro you could tell that he understood the nuances of handi-capping. And here is something else to consider. During Seattle Slews 2 year old season, he ran the "Champaign Stakes in 1:34 & 2/5ths of a second at Belmont (Iisted the track in case you've never heard of the "Champaign Stakes"). That is 2/5ths of a second off the track record set by an older horse!!! Oh, by the way, the "Champaign Stakes is for 2 year olds. Eddie Arcaro stated that, he wasn't impressed with Seattle Slew leading up to and during the Kentucky Derby. He was more impress with him after the race. If you want to learn about horse racing, the history, handi-capping etc. just ask. I'll be happy to educate you.

Kelso was better than both of them but, Eddie wasn't there for kelso. He said kelso would have beaten the shit out of citation. Go figure. Citation was one of the greats but, he got hurt cause the owner himself said he ran him too much at 3 and, burnt him out. Forego had a bad leg, was one of the greats, guess he would have been even better without that bad leg. Easy goer had he not had bad ankles and, consider the time man of war raced in when the tracks were in worst conditons and, he wore iron shoes which would have slowed him down, the alluminum shoes came up in the 1940s. Look at the weight mow was carrying and, they use no gates. Look at the great horses that came out of mow especially his greatest decendent the great kelso who was his great grandson. Prove out had he not had bad ankles and, got hurt at the start and, not had a nasty habit of logging in till Allen Jerkens got him. Kelso suffered from colic pain all his life so kelso was not the soundest horse neither. Most likely kelso would have been even better had he not suffered from colic pain, they say he died from that. Hard to imagine kelso being better than he was but had he nit had to give away so much weight his record would have looked even better! He was freakin unbelievable kelso. KELSOS' BIGGEST FAN.

That means gee how many more records would have kelso broken had he let him go all out and, how many more races would kelso have won by double digits and, he won double digits as it was!!!! Eddie won almost all his races with kelso. He was getting old by the time he rode kelso and, it was sad cause no one understood kelso better and, he told Valenzuela who came in to ride KING KELLY how to ride him. Someone said with Arcaro and kelso it was the greatest jockey of all-times at the end of his carear and, the greatest race horse of all-times at the start of his carear, so sad, gee you wonder what had Eddie been young and, rode kelso longer. No, sorry, I’m not blindly believing what you do. You’re the most biased arguer ever and are a big liar! You even say everyone you’re “Kelso’s biggest fan.” That ends it right there, you’re subjective, selective, and childish with your points. As I mentioned, you feel the need to bring Kelso up every time a horse is mentioned because of your desperation. Guess what, not everyone thinks like you! And you sure ain’t that smart either! Not only do you say all of this, but you double down and say “it’s not even close.” If it was truly like that, then kelso would be rated number 1 on every all time lists, and we wouldn’t be arguing about it. But we are, which in itself disproves your ridiculous point. I love kelso and think he’s one of the best. One of the best, but not the greatest. I’d rate him about 4th all time. Which is exactly what the blood horse list rates him. And I know your mindless points you bring up every time. The mile and a half record on turf is 2:22 3/5 currently, so his 1964 international was far from the best performance ever. It’s just a typical talking point by you. You also fail to bring up that he lost that same race 3 years in a row and was only 3 for 8 on turf. Like I said, you’re selective. You don’t mention the fact that kelso never did better than 1:48 for a mile and an eight on dirt, which is very weak, and never better than 2:00 for a mile and a quarter. No, only your same 3 or so talking points that you mention every time. Look, I’ve seen you comment for years. Those Kindergarten antics don’t work on me pal. I’m a thinker. I value using a thing called logic and reasoning. I don’t let my emotions decide the best horse ever for me and then say I’m their “biggest fan.” Because if I did, I’d have no business arguing about it.

Ah einstein, kelso ran most of his races in ny at the aquaduct which has sharper tighter turns that that bullshit belmont park with those wider turns that are much easier on the horses. Bet you didn't know that. Go look that up. I know more people in the horse racing world than you will if you live two lifetimes. I give up on you dude, keep sleeping on that side of the bed. You're in denial. Oh and, trust me prove out who was an Allen Jerkens horse and, beat your fat ass steroid boy at the woodward would have fired secretariats' fat ass all over again had he faced him at the 2 mile jockey gold cup, by the way prove out did 3:20 flat that's the secound fastest horse ever to run that and, alot of great horses ran it like citation who did 3:21 3/5 on a fast track, forego did 3:21 2/5 on a fast track, prove out holds the 4th fastest timing for it. Hey einstein guess who holds the 3 fastest timings for that? Bingo, the great kelso who broke the record 2 times on sloppy tracks, the first time when he was just 3 and, that was a sloppy track with standing water when he did 3:19 2/5, gee what would have kelso done on a fast track? You tell me eisnstein, kelso broke the record again at it at 7 when he did 3:19 1/5 on another sloppy track. No freakin horse had kelsos' stamina it's not just about speed dude kelso also had great tactical speed which came in handy with those tight turns at the dc international when he did 2:23 4/5 for 1 mile and a half with no gates on 3 tight turns, he did thae last quarter faster than he did the first quarter!. That was just 11 days after he broke his own record for the 2 mile jockey gold cup on a sloppy track. No horse ever broke a record on dirt and, then just 11 days later broeak a record on grass. Kelso said f you to all the horses of all-times. I quit. Good luck with whatever it is guy. Kelso and, it' not even close. Get me another race horse who broke records at 3 and still broke records at 7. Kelso broke 2 records on sloppy track, secretariat and man of war fell short on that. I was at the 73 Belmont. In my opinion, Secretariat was the greatest, 3 triple crown track records that still stand. Look at the Preakness video! He went from dead last from the gate , and watch how he accelerates to get to the lead by the 1st quarter pole, and his fractions just get faster and faster as the race goes on. Incredible . Right then I knew none of the horses had even a remote chance of winning. Secretariat was just coasting. Eddie Arcaro was not only a brilliant rider, but a superb analyst of races and the sport. Not sure what year this was done (but before Turcotte's horrific accident that left him paralyzed in 1978), but he correctly identified that he would never (close to spot on) see high quality three year olds ran as four year olds. I feel confident in saying that the Derby, Belmont, and Preakness have been run on the very same tracks for over 100 years.
Riding styles and so on...Arcaro was arguably the best jockey ever. Do you know someone who would have done a better job?
In the end it DOES come down to time. Thats what wins races and thats what distinquishes one athlete from another. A horses speed depends on their own abilities. Period.
Dont take it so personally that he was a better horse than Citation. All 3 of Reds Triple Crown records still stand after 46 years. Thats A LOT of horses he is better than!

I do think that Citation was better than Whirlaway, but not by much. Whirlaway set the track record in the Kentucky Derby at that time and also smashed the Jockey Club Gold Cup record later that year although he lost by a nose to Market Wise. Arcaro also says in this program that the only time Citation was allowed to run was when he set the mile world record at Golden Gate. Gee, what a shame that he wasn't allowed to run against Noor. Citation was a great horse, no question, and Arcaro's favorite, but even Arcaro had to admit no horse was ever going to be able to do what Secretariat did that day at Belmont Park. What Arcaro and every other person who witnessed that race, whether in person, on live television that day, or in replays ever since, was a true genetic freak in Secretariat. He was a freak in the best sense of the word, and nobody would ever see another one like him ever again.

Secretariat was great, no argument. I still wonder why Arcaro never gave credit to Whirlaway who won the Belmont in 1941 about 7 seconds slower than big red. That race in 1941 was purposely slow because the other jockeys slowed it down to see if they could then get Whirlaway to settlr in with them, then they would take off and leave him. That didnt happen. Whirlaway in the Preakness was so far behind, the camera couldnt pick him up, but, he won! Arcaro said he held the reins on Whirlaway to keep from falling off. He also said he really wasn't controlling him. The horse, Whirlaway, did what he wanted to and was the triple crown winner in 1941. So, it's hard to compare apples to oranges. I think each horse must stand on its own merit and judged based on the times, conditions, health, rider and the horse itself.
