It could have been here where I live, in my neighborhood. I honestly don't understand and I'm so afraid of how this is going to affect children that have lived through this. He is working very very hard to be calm and focused and not just drop out of the interview into his grief.
I was driving listening to this and broke down crying. Losing a child is trauma enough, but to be a first responder and learn of their death in this way is incomprehensible. I have not doubt she was amazing person, when considering all of this he had his wife’s feelings in the forefront of his mind. And the little girl who was completely covered in the blood of her best friend…this is a community trauma that will last forever, and particularly for these children who are at such a vulnerable age.

I know I’ve lost my daughter but to lose your child in a way like this is unimaginable. Praying for all the families we need a change this has been going on since I was in middle school. Boulder Colorado was the first I remember.
I cannot imagine the absolute fear these children went through while watching their short life pass before their eyes. No child should feel that fear. The teachers are heroes also.. I know they did whatever they could to be a comfort to their babies :(

It’s always so heartbreaking hearing these parents cry over their now deceased kids. She just turned 10 on the 10th, her golden birthday. After I first learned about Columbine when I was a Freshman in high school, I never thought that it would happen again and again and again, etc. I really wish America would change so these don’t happen all of the time. As a parent who has lost a child, I can fully relate to his grief all too well. I wish there were something I could do to help him, but unfortunately, there is nothing anyone anywhere can say to ease his pain. My advice to him is to take all the time he needs to process this and to find a healthy way to cope with it. They say time heals all wounds, but that’s a lie! Time only makes the pain of the wound more tolerable, but that wound will always hurts. My condolences to Mr. Garza and his family!

I am sure covering these devastating events takes a toll on him. He was just in the Ukraine for a long time, at least in the beginning months of the war and saw first hand the horrors there as well.
All of my admiration to Anderson for how he handles these interviews. He doesn't ask too many questions or even say things like "I'm so sorry," he just holds space for the parents and helps them tell their stories. As a new father himself I can't imagine how hard that must have been.
I thought the same thing. Anderson also lost his only sibling-his brother to suicide. So he understands what it is like to lose someone suddenly. As a father himself this really hits home. I am praying for that family and all the families affected by this shooting.
That's true I also thought he did well with it. It would be so difficult as a news reporter to ask questions, and be consoling, and also appropriate and respectful. That's a fine line. He did a good job.

Though I sympathize with your feelings, Anderson along with CNN's producers really deserve to prosecuted. At the very least, they were incredibly unprofessional. First off, they choose this ridiculously amateurish actor to play the role of father to one of the little girls. Then, after other news outlets have already interviewed the same "father", CNN tries to cover for their mistake by choosing a different actor to play the same part later on that same day! That's unprofessional.
And to top it all off, their replacement "father" for the same girl was almost as bad as their first choice. Any way you look at it, CNN is definitely losing it big time. The words of dear old Andy of Mayberry come to mind. "Sad....Saaaaaaad!"

The people in this man's family just sound so loving and lovely, he managed to give a insight into a beautiful family.
