  • I love the Unitek Cartridge Switching adapters. They allow me to store games to be able to swap between them quickly and easily. The original docks allowed you to Switch between 4 games while storing another 4 to play on the Nintendo Switch & Switch OLED. But what if you wanted to swap between more than 4 games? Well, Unitek has released their latest sorcery that not only duplicates what the originals did but now expands upon it by letting you swap between 8 different Nintendo Switch Games!
The Unitek Switch Game Card Reader features a USB-C port and includes a USB-A to USB-C cable for power. It also has a fairly thick ribbon cable that goes from the Switcher to your cartridge port. Instead of going up and over the Switcher I would have preferred if the ribbon cable exited the side of the case closer to the cartridge port. It's not bad, just a bit unsightly. Finally, there's a push button on the left side of the Switcher which changes the game and color when pressed. I would like it a bit more if the LED would flash the number of times to respond to the cartridge port in use to help identify the game in use. I think that would be more helpful than the color changes myself.
To attach the Switcher to your dock, it just uses a pressure fit to stay in place. On both my original Switch Dock and my Switch OLED dock the fitment was perfect. It slid on and was held securely in place without being difficult to remove if so desired. One thing that would be nice is if there would be a way for the unit to stand on its own behind the Switch to make it more convenient if and when using a 3rd party dock. Perhaps having legs that could swing out and stand behind the dock would be a solution?
Once I had the Unitek 8-in-1 game card adapter hooked up, I put it through its paces. Much like the other units, both the button and remote control functions exactly as you would expect. For each input, it Switches one game slot position. I still wish the LEDs would flash to represent the number slot that the cartridges in, but I suppose that requires you to remember that as much as the color code does.
One thing I've had many people ask is if you can daisy chain these. I've never actually tested that out, even though I've always meant to but this was the one that was going to be the guinea pig. I connected the 8-in1 to my Switch and connected one of the four and ones two slot 8, providing external power to both of them. At first it appeared that it would work, but then it indicated that the card had been removed. Weird! Then I tried the reverse hookup, using the slot 4 in a 4-in-one to connect the eight in one. Same thing. That makes me believe that there's something within here internally that simply does not allow that sort of thing to happen.
    Why it RoX:
    - Addresses my major criticism from the original
    - Remote control functionality
    - Allows you to swap between eight games seamlessly
    - Maintains everything excellent about the previous models
    - Compatible with both the Switch OLED and original Switch dock
    What could be improved:
    - Cannot be Daisy chained
    - When system is in sleep mode the LED occasionally pops on
    - No way of connecting to a third party dock
    - USB-C cables just way too long
    Should you buy one?
I love these goofy things, it makes it so much easier for me to store my cases in the game room while being able to Switch between games and my living room. I never saw much of a benefit, personally, for the storage component of the original models, but being able to have all eight cartridge slots house games to swap between is amazing. Is it perfect? No. There are still a few minor issues, but this is as close to a must own for the Nintendo Switch that I can think of.

Hmmm, definitely digging the convenience because, of course, we prefer our physical games over digital as well.

Looks like they finally got it right, only took four attempts if you include the dock, lol.
Sucks if you bought the previous versions which are now outdated.

These guys have made three versions of this product, just trying to get it right and this is the version I have been hoping for!
This one is an absolute must for people who like physical BUT also have kids they don't want handing the carts all the time.
This is also great for any game shops where you can play Switch.
Tuck the Switch out of reach of customers, load up 8 games and now people can free play without you needing to swap games for them OR without the risk of people stealing the cart when you're busy.
Cool product for sure and I'll be getting this one.

As someone who is in manufacturing and product development himself I can understand it relate to that. The first one was really good. The second one was terrific. This one is the best.

My only point of improvement would be a remote with 8 buttons so you don't have to cycle through 6 other games to get to the 8th game

I'll probably pick one of these up in the next couple of months. The convenience is worth it.
Did you also try pushing the button on the the unit to switch games when you had them daisy chained?

Will it work if I connect it directly on the wall socket? I usually use my switch with Arzopa portable monitor, it directly connects the switch to the monitor so I don't use the nintendo dock, I'm wondering if it will work using a difference power source other than the switch dock.

Nah I don’t need this , I use only digital
and when the life of a console dies then it’s riding high seas so games are never lost

Well I thought putting "Every Ethical Switch Owner Needs This" in the thumbnail would be too on the nose

@RoXolid it’s ethical, once the console is out of life there’s no point in buying physical your not profiting the company
The whole physical media and it will be gone and the only way to preserve it is through physical is completely BS.

@MrFaleh1129 just because something goes out of print doesn't mean a copyright is not enforceable or is surrendered.

@RoXolid well probs to you but I don’t think it means anything cause we all use those cheap emulators and I’m pretty dam sure you didn’t back up every copy of NES games you have , you probably installed a ROM online so that’s the same thing
Why is it morally wrong with the switch to do so if it’s out of life but not with the NES ? It’s the exact same thing
But titling the video “every switch owner needs this” even though we all clearly know that not everyone needs it is just a clickbait 😅
That’s my 2 cent and have a nice day

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  5 місяців тому +2

@MrFaleh1129 what the hell are you talking about? I don't use any emulators for anything. The only NES games I play are the ones I physically own. It's equally wrong to do it with BOTH!
I've had content stolen from me. I know how it makes me feel, how it infuriates me and pisses me off. I won't do that to others.
You might want to watch this episode, I had a lawyer join me to discuss this very topic
      ua-cam.com/video/8IRt0Xcus9k/v-deo.html
I'll also tell you every UA-cam video's title and thumbnail is "clickbait". That's why people create title and thumbnail and titles, to encourage people to watch. But I'll also say there's a difference between clickbait and deception. Was I dishonest about the title or thumbnail text? No, this is something I believe every Switch Owner needs.
