As you mentioned here... the thing that I admire about Lara is not only her amazing voice and stage performance, but also her longevity in her career. She is able to maintain her voice, keep performing and producing new albums for her fans and to wider audiences, and also sharing her knowledge by teaching and inspiring new generation of singers. From what i heard, she is living an "ordinary" life, which is also a blessing in itself.

I hear you about Karen Carpenter. I had the pleasure of working with The Carpenters back in 1978 and to this day Karen's voice (and personality) still remains at the top of my list of GOAT. In fact, until I heard Lara, my top singers were Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, and both ladies from ABBA. Lara is at the top now. Nobody in my opinion has the breadth of talent and ability comparable to hers. I think we have a lot of similar favorites.

There were not a lot of high tech machines available in those days so what I mean is basically the creative process in the studio as opposed to all the "little boxes" they have now. But, they had fun layering all the background voices and creating a song on a recording. Richard was and still is a genius. He's a really nice person too. They were a great team. Lara is amazing in the studio but I really feel her magic when she's live and connecting with an audience. It is like nothing else.
