I have friends from both countries Ukraine and Russia. They are just wonderful people. No one wants this war. It takes years to build but seconds to destroy. Many of our politicians have lost the sense of humanity.
My daughter is friends with both some Ukrainians and Russians. One having moved back to Russia a year or so ago. It’s a sad state of affairs. Brothers fighting brothers. Most don’t want the war a few Ukrainians and Russians think it’s just. They believe Ukrainians should still be part of Russia. The politics are probably too deep for us to relate but breaks my heart.

As Russia began to construct the Nordstream Pipeline few worried about the presence of Russian Gas in Euro Markets. now that they have become capable of providing a third to around 40% and are finished assembling the Nordstream 2 pipeline, they could be capable of providing more than Half of Europe's demand for gas.
The LNG markets seem to be looking at a couple hundred billion worth of investment in LNG and the US already sells some to Europe.
The US Defense Budget now tops 750 billion and when we begin to investigate where some of that budget has been directed, we might notice some former Soviet Union Nations among the new customers.

Unfortunately, China has its own financial system that works just like SWIFT that Russia can use, so cutting them off from SWIFT won't do anything.
