Incubus is such an excellent band. S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Make Yourself, Morning View (my favorite of their albums), A Crow Left of the Murder. All outstanding albums. A deeper dive into Incubus is needed, I think.
Avoid “Drive” EVERYONE reacts to that one and it’s the worst IMO. Slow, repetitive, predictable. Anything else go for it! Need more Incubus reactions on UA-cam

@@JCraig1301 IMO I think it’s just overplayed and it’s reacted to too much. It’s still a good song though, regardless the amount of times it’s played..
Morning View is amazing.
Possibly one of my favorite songs of all time not just Incubus. The music, the lyrics, and just the place I was in when this song dropped. It's a time stamp basically in my life.

Incubus definitely had a big switch between SCIENCE and Make Yourself. Their sound changed a bunch but I'm a big fan of both sounds
Yea they moved from the straight funk a bit but I like both. They just went a bit more accessible
Incubus is incredibly diverse. They can do it all and do it very well!
The early stuff they put out was harder than the stuff that made them popular as well as radio worthy (by radio standards in the 90s and 2000s)

I love this song. I haven't heard this in such a long time. Back in the day, I played the shit out of this album. I considered the band in the early 2000's as maybe alt rock? I didn't categorize it, I just played it.
I just saw Incubus in concert a few weeks ago & they were 🔥! I’ve loved them for years but never had a chance to catch them live. They sold out in my city so I guess they still have a big following.
Beautiful song, Incubis has some amazing tunes, and they're always changing their sound, they go from New Metal, to rock, to heavy, to R&B, I will say the same I said about Halestrom, if you "Dig" deep enough you'll find some wonderful songs, Check out Megalomaniac, Pardon Me, Drive, Wish you were here or Warning... Keep up the good vibe guys!!
I don't think I've ever tried to classify Incubus into the metal genre. It's more of a melodic surfer alternative rock type sound. It's definitely unique. Their sound has evolved over time, but the essence, to me, is still the same. Incubus has been a favorite band of mine since high school, and their Make Yourself and Morning View albums are great pretty much front-to-back.
Check out these old songs by Incubus: Consequence, Nowhere Fast and Privilege.
Their first couple of albums were so goddamned good.The warmth, new skin, pretty much all of the make yourself album. You’ll “dig” em, promise.

Incubus is so underrated. They have some many beautiful songs to check out but I have one special for a request. I don’t believe as of now that a single person has ever reacted to “If Not Now, When?” On UA-cam. Please check it out, it’s one of Brandon’s best vocal showcases IMO.

Guys, I’m so glad y’all did this song today. I think I’ll have a Throwback Incubus Thursday! One of my most favorite songs is “Just a Phase” off the album Morning View. The live ones are awesome, but the album version is harder and I really think y’all will like it! Peace and love to you both!

The only way to understand Incubus is to keep listening! I promise you wont regret it. You two are awesome ❤ each album has hard tracks btw. Their career is not linear based on time. Each album is different.
I love Incubus. I rocked their Make Yourself album for so long. Brandon Boyd is a cautionary tale of making sure you are using your voice properly when singing so you don't damage your vocal chords. He doesn't sound the same at all anymore.
Smokie is talking about the sound from Make Yourself. Drive, Pardon me, Stellar those are all that sound.
As for genre. I'd put them in the Nu adult contemporary soul metal category.
Aqueous transmission will be always my favourite song . they are such a nice band and yes, the songs are so different from each other that you can put them according how you feel 😂😁 love their sounds in music
Great to see you reacting to more incubus. Spot on about every song being different. If you want a song at the complete opposite end of their spectrum, a song called if Not now when is great. Listen to the live in studio version if you can. Great video as always
Incubus is completely underrated
I wouldn’t compare them to NIN. They started out sounding more like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Now they’re just like, a straight ahead rock band. This song is from the Light Grenades album (2006). Trust me, I’ve seen them live 12 or 13 times and was pretty obsessed with them in my mid/ late 20s. Still ❤ them 😊
Incubus is the shit, but never to be compared to NIN.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, the lyrics are so beautiful. Incubus is hard to put in a category, they've definitely evolved their sound over time.
Love Incubus! So many favorites. Y’all reacted to my suggestion of “A Certain Shade of Green” but may I also suggest two of my faves: “Anna Molly” (love the bass!) and “Sick Sad Little World” from Look Alive (I can listen to this on repeat).
I always heard Incubus on alt rock stations. I got into them big time around 2007, I think around the time “Dig” came out. But I recall liking them already a little before with “Wish you were here”- “I dig my toes into the sand, the ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket…” love their Cali vibe! I dig it! 😂

Bassist Ben Kenney is an amazing musician. He plays all the instruments & has a great voice. Check out his song Eulogy.

Brandon is a big fan of Mr Bungle and Mike Patton which is where a lot of their heavier erratic sound came from and emulates that trend of ever changing, evolving sound I think that's also where their funkier bassy sound came from. A lot of 2000s bands were influenced by Bungle and all went their own way into differing variations of Nu Metal, Incubus was played on metal nights with the rest of those bands normally stuff from SCIENCE
They were and are pretty amazing. Highly don’t think they get the praise they deserve sometimes. I recommend their song “Warning”
Whenever I hear one of their songs I can smell the beach in California

I haven't heard this band in so long. I met this dude at Ozzfest along with Jared Leto and a few others like FOREVER ago, damn that was like 1999 or 2000. Incubus was always basically "alt rock" from Fungus Amungus. Funny enough the very first second of the first track on Fungus Amungus sounds like the beginning of Party in the USA, lol.
This is one of my favorite songs. It hits me deep every time.
I know y'all are real fans I can't believe someone on here knows about Closet Cultivation. Props to y'all. Yeah they've always been against being labeled. They literally used to play the area one tour and then next week play ozzfest back in the day. Not many bands could pull that off and be so diverse to play to such different crowds.

Incubus surfs through several genres they’ve definitely mellowed out in their old age
This was the song we picked as our wedding song. Earlier stuff was a little heavier and had scratching, they still have a dj to this day.
I love Incubus. I can understand that people didn´t like the drastic changes they did throughout the years in their style. But I see it as evolving from wild teens to young adults to middle aged men who found their place in life. But one thing stayed constant - the amazing lyrics. Every bandmember is so good and Brandon Boyd as such a good voice, very underrated singer.
Every phase of them has its own gems.
I highly recommend the Jose Pasillo drum session for "sick sad little world."
Excellent Choice of Song Today Guys. INCUBUS is a Fantastic Band. Very experimental, Colorful and constantly Evolving Band. There's Make Yourself which features PARDON ME, and it's my Favorite Album. It also features their Smash Hit DRIVE, THE WARMTH, NOWHERE FAST, and I MISS YOU. Morning View was also a Wonderful Album ; with WISH YOU WERE HERE, WARNING, ARE YOU IN?, 11 AM, and NICE TO KNOW YOU.
They are all excellent Musicians and YES Brandon can SING! HE can do Amazing things with His voice. I hear quite alot of Jazz influences in their stuff and I would bet money they were influenced by Deftones. I'd say that would be my closest comparison to Type of Band not necessarily Sound so much. I think you'd be Happy with a Deeper Dive into Incubus. Never been disappointed.
PS...I saw them Live at Lollapalooza 2003? On the same Bill were: A Perfect Circle, Audioslave, Jane's Addiction. Need I say More. Mic Drop...😝😝
I saw them on that tour too! I only remember them and Audioslave though… I think I saw some of the other bands too but my memory is failing me right now 😩 I remember Chris Cornell saying that everybody in the front row looked stoned 😆

Love Incubus, I was in High school when I discovered them. As far as I know the genre is Alternative Rock.
Summer Romance (Anti Gravity Love Song) by Incubus would blow these guys minds....
Legitimately every album learned towards a new genre. Awesome band who did a lot of exploring musically.
Also I’ll add I don’t think it was to blend in to current trends. I believe they were true artists and just changing the music as they changed personally. Early stuff reflected the angst of being in your late teens and the later stuff got softer as they matured and calmed down a bit lol
This is my favorite band of all time. I grew up listening to these guys and Linkin Park. Good reaction fellas. Get more love out for Incubus.
Dig is one of my favorites. New Skin ranks up there too, it’s one of the older, harder ones
To me Light Grenades was their best album. I liked their previous albums but this really clicked with me for some reason.
The first time I ever saw them live was at Reunion Arena Dallas TX in 97. They opened for Pantera who then opened for Sabbath. They brought it to the table that night. Really awesome live band.
For me, Incubus is more an experimental rock if it's a genre but they are testing every subgenre in rock that they fit. light grenade album is a totally different album, more on the soft side but the album is totally underrated I am glad you are beginning to react to the songs from their different albums. Try ANY song from the Morning View album. Keep it up, guys! Cheers from the Philippines!

More Incubus!
Been a fan of Incubus since the early 2000s. They’re a unique band. They’re definitely not nu metal or grunge. Looking at their entire catalog-they have a mix of funk, hard rock, hiphop, and alternative sound. They take you on a rollercoaster of musical styles. They’re their own genre lol. If I had to pick one, i’d just say rock as a general catch-all description
I would even say they are “SoCal Rock”, and I think anyone from SoCal and has similar tastes in music to Incubus, such as RHCP, QOTSA, would understand that reference. They are also one of the only bands that carry their music well from recorded to live. I’ll be 50 and still buying tickets to their shows. They’re timeless! ❤

Singer Brandon Boyd said the song is "about love but love in a platonic sense or love that stems from the power of camaraderie." From the same album, "Anna Molly" is a great tune. Brandon Boyd is an underrated singer. Check out "If Not Now When?" off the album of the same name. He really flexes on that track. But, before that, go check out "Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)" from the "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." album. One of the coolest and most eclectic songs they've ever done.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E is definitely part of that nu metal first wave. The Korn influence on their earlier stuff is obvious. By the time Slipknot released their first record Incubus had already dropped their nu metal sound in favor of a lighter approach
Definitely one of their more catchy, popular songs. I love Incubus, in particular their first several albums like Science, Make Yourself, Morning View, Crow Left of the Murder. Definitely take a deep dive on them, they have an amazing broad sound to their music. They began as funk metal and grew to alt rock with a twist

It makes sense to me that their sound would chang because it involved. If they still sound the same after 20 years it would almost be disappointing. But the thing about Incubus, is that no one else sounds like them

I fell in love with incubus when I first heard them, but they were punk/metal and suddenly the same songs were re-recorded in a NEARLY soft rock style. I don’t know how or why it happened.
I still liked the music because the lyrics were still very good and meaningful, but not as much in the newer style. “Pardon Me” was even one of the songs that was re-recorded. Maybe the label made them do it?
I think you can find some really old videos of live performances of their old versions of their first album hits

Alternate rock....which seems to be the default for any band that didnt quite fit in any other rock genre. Amazing band...Dig is one of my top 5 fav songs.
I would companre them more to Faith No More, Red hot Chili Peppers. Brandon has pipes.
Rock + scratches doesn’t necessarily mean new metal. They were alternative rock plus some hip hop elements. Not new metal.
They started out being more punk but then became alternative

Take Me To Your Leader is a great early one
Still loving your reactions, but one small criticism; I've noticed in your most recent videos, the audio timing has been off for the videos you're reacting to. The video is about 1/4 second ahead, as in their lips move before the sound starts. It can be really distracting, especially when people are playing instruments like drums.
