  • Welcome to Yata-Tetsu's Station & Train Announcements Channel from Japan!
In-train announcements on an South Western Railway class 458 train -- a local stopping service between London Waterloo to Weybridge via Hounslow Loop.
The journey starts at London Waterloo, which is the largest train terminal in London, then goes down the main line to Clapham Junction, the busiest train station in London, then travels on the main line towards Reading. After Barnes the train leaves the main line and joins Hounslow Loop via Brentford.
At Feltham services leaves Hounslow Loop and merges onto the main line to Reading again. At the fifth station Virginia Water, the train leaves the main line AGAIN, goes southward to Weybridge, where the line merges onto another main line to Weymouth.
Class 458 has a unique on board announcements when compared to other rolling stocks at the following points:
    1. It must make an announcement with its destination and the next calling point when departing the previous stop, whereas others usually do so after leaving principal stations only.
    2. Arrival announcements say ‘this train is now approaching xxx’ whereas other SWR trains usually say ‘the next station is xxx.’
    3. There must be special messages on short platforms.
    4. No messages regarding Oyster and contactless payment cards being unacceptable beyond Feltham.
    5. No mind the gap announcements
For other interesting point, on the service to London Waterloo due 0811, there may be a funny announcement before reaching Waterloo station:
‘This train is for London Waterloo calling at and London Waterloo.’
This announcement may be given since the train becomes empty to depot at Waterloo and on board crew has to change the setting of the train information system to not in passenger service before arriving there. I could have record this announcement and put it in the end of this video.
You may also find it interesting that Class 458 trains say thank you to customers after arriving at its final stop, like ‘thank you for travelling with South Western Railway’; and way of reading through the company name sounds a bit strange - it seems this part is quoted from ‘welcome aboard this South Western Railway service to’ on Class 450 trains.
Services on this route are also operated with Class 450 or in rare cases with Class 707 rolling stocks. Announcements on class 450 and 707 on this route will be posted on other days.
Celia Drummond announces all of the messages. Some announcements made by the on board crew are also recorded in this video.
    [Notes]
I'm sorry but no requests will be accepted.
