- The Mahdara (Islamic Center) of Umul-Qura in Mauritania was set up by Sheikh Mohammad Salem Oul Addoud rahimahu Allah. Muslims from all over the world live and seek knowledge there.

as salaamu alaykum! I was the second Westerner to study in Ummul Quraa, & the first to bring a family. This was in the 90’s when Shaykh Adood (RaHimahullaah) was strong and healthy.
It is a joy to see the village again. And the masjid you showed was the new masjid at the time. Jazaakumullaahu khayran for the memory

Salaam brother may Allah bless you for making the move ameen. I'm from the West and have seen enough oppression here for me to feel like I need to move with my family In sha Allah. I feel Allah is guiding me towards Mauritania. In sha Allah I'm planning to come over to Mauritania near the end of the year for a little hoilday to get a feel for it In sha Allah. Finally, how to deal with many checkpoints when the visa has expired for a foreign Muslim from Europe? May Allah reward you for your time, Aameen.

You can come on a visit visa then change it to a residency card after 3 months.

To my knowledge, the only classes for women there are tajwid classes.
Just a question. How does someone get to Umm al qura from Nouakchott?
If you don't have a vehicle. There are taxis that can take you there.

You get an attestation from the sheikh of the Mahdara

@mohamedtoutouh5457 for the entry visa you can put the name of hotel in Nouakchott. If you study at Umul-Qura and want to prolong your visa , you get the attestation from the Shaykh. As far as I know.
