Super Mario Bros Wonder might just be the greatest 2D platformer on the Nintendo Switch of all time but I noticed some pretty strange things during my time playing Super Mario Bros Wonder. So strange in fact that I made a video about it going over 30 things that don't make sense to me. Yes I am going to be applying real world logic to Super Mario Bros Wonder.

I think I have some answers:
1. Blue Toad and Yellow Toad are the bravest toads, as stated by the wiki.
2. The yoshi colors match the colors of the Famicon buttons.
3. Elephants are heavier than humans so they have 2 ledge animations.
The elephants are also wider, so they probably have a larger threshold for triggering the ledge animation.
Isn't captain toad also as brave as them? I just thought those were the only ones that can jump. Toads cant exactly jump high because of their short stubby feet, so having them jump super high defies nature. Unless you want a toad with long legs
@@myowncomputerstuff captain toad cant jump thats why he has his own adventures
They can't touch the flag they are in house cages
Except for Light Blue Yoshi because Light Blue Yoshi
3:03 The poplins are trapped in the huts that were turned into prisons, we see Bowser do this to the poplin you save in the first level, so it’s only sensible he did it to all the poplins you save at the end of levels
the invisiblity one is easy: clearly the lighting in the badge area is better than anywhere else. (but seriosuly, probably just a way to get used to the badge before throwing you in the deep end.
yeah but you cant see yourself
0:06
I believe this is mechanic wise, normally you either bounce back to your feet or drill into a surface however since the thwomp is not a drillable surface you go back to your feet causing the damage hitbox to return
Things that don't make sense to me: Everything. It's a Mario game. Mushrooms make Mario grow. He's friends with mushroom people. He rides on a little dinosaur. He's on an adventure to stop a big bad turtle
It's an adult connotation...😂
7:17 “nabbit isn’t an enemy or an ally, really, he’s just keeping an eye on Mario and his friends”
yeah Infinite probably should've done his research before bitching about questions the game itself answers
@@ecstaticwooper368lol fr
nabbit is a stalker.
7:16 One of the in-game hints on the loading screen says that Nabbit isn't a friend or an enemy, just someone keeping an eye on Mario and the others.
I laughed really hard at how many times you said Yoshi
10 times, and I counted
The reason the poplins don’t walk over is because they’re locked in their houses shown by the beginning cutscene, hope that helps!
Well why not the other poplins that aren't trapped? Like the ones running the shop and in the houses
@@purge2481 Well, you as the player probably have more mobility then them, but if you have to go through courses that are, not hard at all, but harder then the poplins just walking over to their friends, and also there’s enemies as well, and the poplins, are, poplins
@@Megumin69420 fair
I KNOW RIGHT!
@@purge2481they cant leave post
6:55 they are the only brave toads, and the yoshi’s match the color scheme of the controller as well
0:11 I think that base's still presented is because the huts was turned into a brick cellars with the affect of wonder power. So they kind of match the SMB1 & other games.
Yeah, I think the flagpole's existence (and hence appearance) is a part of Castle Bowser's wonder effect.
Yes
Elephant skin is actually super tough in real life
"Just go over and touch the pole yourself." They can't when they're behind bars, can they?
I would ask the same
Me too
You’re right, they’re trapped
Answer: NO!
@@MrWheresmykeys how?????
5:05 "but that is just a theory, A FLOWER THEORY"
For the 18th, it's just that talking flowers is a unique specie
For number 11, notice that the door is an IRON BAR, so the poplin is probably trapped.
0:51 He probably used a hidden triangle slope thing from Super Mario World.
But it does not apear in wonder
This is so good. Nintendo really needs to focus on more realism
Arrowstal I watch your videos!
Nabbit is kind of an anti-hero, so he stays away from the others
the yoshi one killed me haha, great video ❤
Lol glad you enjoyed!
Isn't Mario's Butt coming in contact with the spikes and not the drill, thereby wreaking damage
But the butt is covered by the drill
2:33 The prince asks that, and he says something like they just have to follow the rules. Fair enough, next time make rules that account for such emergencies.
5:29 Mario and Luigi hold onto their hats with the back of their necks.
5:40 From gameplay perspective, probably just to introduce you to the new wonder seed color for that world. Storywise, of course they give it to you to help save the world, no rules against that like with Poplin Master.
5:53 Captain Toad has a spaceship.
Captain Toad can teleport, this is explained In the Legend Of Zelda Prime.
@@DogloverTravis He's actually Loki time slipping and disguised.
@@AiseStyle my bad
One of the dutch tips tells you that nabbit isn't a friend, nor an enemy. He's just here to watch Mario
2:57 they were trapped in there house, proof is in the intro and it shows them trapped in the house
Yup
4:02 This is the same dude who put an axe/release button at the end of his lava bridge for any enemy to *_w e a v e_* by and press. . . Like five times
To be fair, the axe/button could just be so that Bowser could escape and collapse the bridge behind him to ensure he couldn’t be followed
@@m90e and he never does
00:06 because your drills aren't on your feets
00:11 artistic style
01:27 that's a good question
01:55 artistic style or is just to recognized him
03:17 because they're not dress from the bottom
03:44 remember when in Sonic CD said "I'm outta here" and quite the game? Well same logic
no you turn around so your drill is facing the ground so the does hit the thwomp
COINCIDENCE
I THINK NOT
OK, so how come when you collect normal flowers you get nothing but if you collect power up you get stuff?
Well, technically, because Bowser turned their houses into giant jail cells the cage bars are too strong for a poplin to get through. Given this, the poplins is stuck in there until Mario can get to the flag pole and talk to the fog bowl to free the poplins once more.
"If it that easy then why do you even need marios help in the first place, just go over and touch the flagpole yourself" maybe its because they're in a fricking cage?
In one of the search parties. I used the drill power up to get a medal but a platform that is moves i don't fall off when it's away from the gap and when it comes back i can.
Poplins are not lazy but they can't touch the poles because they're literally trapped inside a steel prison cell with no escape so mario has to touch the pole himself to free the poplin from being stuck in prison.
I have another thing that doesn’t make sense. Why does only one wonder flower make Bowser so powerful when one wonder flower in this game only transforms the LEVEL
Magikoopa shenanigans.
the flag pole one is that, in the intro, where bowser turns the houses into prisons, the flower people were inside of the houses and putted into cells, so thats why they couldn't touch it, look more carefully next time
Imagine how longe it takes for him to say the yoshi in the good place
So you can beat an air ship?
GOBACK ON IT..
just wait…
AND YOU CAN DESTROY IT *AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN*
Number 11. The poplins are actually locked in the house because at the start of the game it shows us this
EXACTLY
4:06 "I thought you were better than this"
Let's be real tho, this is the same guy who leaves an axe on a bridge for Mario to collapse, makes whole bridges made out of bricks that he himself breaks with his ground pounds and tosses Mechakoopas for Mario to toss back at him, and the list goes on and on...
3:08 calling the Polins lazy because they are behind bars is the equivalent of calling someone a camper for staying in one spot for 0.0000000000001 millisecond
Number 11 doesn't make sense because they're LOCKED IN THEY'RE HOUSE
I feel like you can argue for some these
1: The toads have their mushrooms on their heads because that's what's on the top of their heads.
2: The Poplins are literally imprisoned, you can't just walk out!
3: Talking flowers, put two and two together. They are talking, and they are flowers.
4: Mario with the flower in the mine could just be traversing the mine with the flower (This one felt like a bit of a stretch but still)
5: The power-up in the balloon may be weighing the balloon down.
3:12 in the beginning cutsean bowser turn the in to jail sells
3:02 weird, but I kind of remember the poplins being, you know, trapped??
For the toad goomba: maybe it turns into a hat when the toad gets goombafied lol
dude the poplins are locked in their houses they can't just walk out 💀
also, i found it funny how Infinite questions the master poplin for not giving him the royal seed as a free handout but then when the normal poplins give him Wonder Seeds as free handouts he still questions why they'd give it to him when he didn't even do anything
(likely they gated wonder seeds behind poplins to make them more important and also so they can give you exposure for the story or whatever)
Mario is really a cool franchise with so many great franchises.
My least favorites are New Super Mario Bros and Mario Maker thought.
How dare you say new super Mario bros?!
@@A_Handle_I_Guess...nsmb is the same thing every game
@@A_Handle_I_Guess... Yeah NSMB was really boring. Glad that we're getting some more creativity in our 2D Mario games now.
@@A_Handle_I_Guess... that game boring af
@@dumbass64 I wouldn't say NSMB for the original DS is the "same thing." That was the only one that does different things, it was unique and stood out from the others. It also had interesting boss fights like fighting Petey Piranha, or a goomba that grows giant, or a mole in a battle tank, rather than fighting only Bowser Jr or the Koopalings for the millionth time.
3:02 they are trapped in the houses due to Bowser. But at that point just have King florian crawl his way to all the flags while mario focuses on the royal seeds
Unless it has birds
With the flagpole, I can give you an answer, well, notice that all of the huts are turned into small cells that resemble castle towers? Hence the flagpoles were erected to resemble that.
Perfect word "erect"
6:01 CLONES, (this is a reference to shorts wars, THE LORE IS BACK
:l
On number 11 the poplins are trapped in the houses. You can see it in the opening of the game.
How does Mario’s clothes not get stretched when going from small to big and his clothes don’t get all baggy when going from big to small. His clothes get stretched a bit in elephant form, but not when getting or losing a mushroom.
I always used to ponder that too, but then I saw there's actually an explanation for that. I saw someone did a slow motion of what happens when elephant Mario gets hit, and when he takes damage, I saw that the extra weight from the elephant form starts to deflate and shrink as Mario's human form comes back, so it seems it doesn't stretch out the clothes, he just gets bigger and clothes fits him as needed to be for that form and go back to normal size when he reverts back to his original human form.
But what I REALLY want to know is how exactly does Mario's shoes magically come back on? Like when he goes into his elephant form, we can see the shoes are too small to support those chubby elephant feet, so they just pop off or rip open. But when he gets hit suddenly they just reappear back on his feet. When he reverts back to a human, shouldn't he be barefooted?
How can fire go underwater in Mario wonder? How can Yoshi carry enemies that wake up usually like koopas, armods or dry bones? Usually they come back to life if you hit them once, but Yoshi can carry them in his mouth forever? Totally makes sence, Nintendo. 😐
I have an answer to number 11. The poplins cant revert their house because they are trapped in
2:58 the poplins are imprisoned and cant do it themselves
2:04 My brain has stopped braining
7:57 Isaac newton needs to patch that 💀
2:04 LOL THIS WOULD PROBABLY BE BROKEN/ Funny
Why in the badge challenges, we don’t lose lives, but in the badge marathon, we do? It literally has “badge” in the name. In fact, why don’t we lose lives at all in the badge challenges, but in actual levels, we do?
Yeah like what
Something that doesn't make sense to me:
How come you can you go down to the palace in Deep Magma Bog but you can still fly to Petal Isles (kinda like the Fungi Mines one)
5:06 AYO WAS THAT THE BIT OF 87
Here's a thing that doesn't make sense Bowser has a button and in his palms he has something to hit and he has an arena in every game so he can lose
Let’s also question where this flower kingdom is on the geography of this planet? And why is there so many mushrooms in a flower kingdom?
I'm questioning why there are so many flowers in underground locations throughout the game.
8:16 Aren't elephants heavy?
but why do they jump the same, run the same, fall the same, etc.?
About that flying flower propellers you use, I believe Mario needs that sort of platform to summon the flower propeller
For 11, they are trapped in the house when the wonder effect is active.
Mario. They say he's Italian, but he hasn't ONCE ranted to me about how his pizza is the only real pizza. And don't even start with the "oh but he's from New York" THAT JUST MAKES IT LESS BELIEVABLE
My guess is he's actually secretly Cherokee and it's a reverse "Crying Indian" situation
4:46 maybe because when Mario touches Water… the sand becomes soggy….. meaning that is almost undigable….. or because simply of Mario because she doesn’t like soggy sand
Also in 4:57 flowers are different…. Also the talking flowers are different meaning that normal ones don’t do it
I think they are not……because they are………………… brothers???
3:07 they're behind bars
Lol, they are not lazy, they we’re just trying to protect themselves
@@JuanpyStudios I'm not saying they're lazy, tho
I don’t think mat pat will be doing a theory on the talking flowers, considering……….. I’m not crying your crying!
Toad, known in Japan as Kinopio,[a] is a fictional character who primarily appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise. A humanoid with a mushroom-like head, Toad was created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and is portrayed as a citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom and is one of Princess Peach's most loyal attendants, constantly working on her behalf. Toad is usually seen as a non-player character who provides assistance to Mario and his friends in most games, but there are times when Toad takes center stage and appears as a protagonist, as seen in Super Mario Bros. 2, Wario's Woods and Super Mario 3D World.

While Toad is the name of an individual, it also refers to their entire race (much like Yoshi and Birdo). However, in early games, the species was called Mushroom Retainers, in Japan they were called Kinoko-zoku (キノコ族), literally "Mushroom People" (which is an alternate name used in earlier localizations, along with "Mushroom Retainers"). In the Mario franchise, there are also some other individual Toad characters (e.g., Toadette, Toadsworth, Toadbert, and Captain Toad). The most prominent trait of a Toad is its large head that resembles a mushroom in shape and color - historically speculated as them wearing a mushroom hat, as portrayed in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, but eventually ruled out by Super Mario Odyssey director Yoshiaki Koizumi.[6] Another common point of most Toads is their traditional vest.
The Toads usually play assisting roles in the Mario franchise and its action games, such as Toadsworth introduced in Super Mario Sunshine and the Toad Brigade association in Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario Odyssey. Despite this, Toads also play the role as heroes in some games. Such a case included the 2 Toads (yellow and blue) who were featured as playable characters along with Mario and Luigi in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The 2 Toads (yellow and blue) return as playable characters later on in New Super Mario Bros. U as well as New Super Luigi U. Toad himself (in a blue palette in reference to his original sprite from Super Mario Bros. 2) returns as one of the playable characters in Super Mario 3D World. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker cast Captain Toad into the spotlight, thus marking it as the first game in 20 years (since Wario's Woods) to have a Toad as the star of a game, as well as the first game to have Toad as the titular character.

Concept and creation
Toad and the mushroom people were first seen in the game Super Mario Bros. where the species was revealed to comprise the majority of the population of the Mushroom Kingdom. Toad's design was made directly from the power-up, the Super Mushroom, as well as the game's general association with mushrooms.[7] Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario franchise, reasons that Toad's creation was that of being a character that has a simplistic design; yet, still appears cute and lovely and pleasing to everybody.[8] In the game, the peaceful Toads of the Mushroom Kingdom had been turned into various objects such as bricks and pipes by the evil King Bowser; however, some of Princess Toadstool's loyal servants, known as the "Mushroom Retainers," were simply kidnapped.[9

Imagine trying to apply logic to a game where the main feature is the game becoming a feverdream
Yeah, Wonder in general is basically completely random, I would never apply logic to this game. If there was an logic I'd apply to any Mario game, it'd probably be Super Mario 64. Cause that game just has lots of things that begs to be answered. Like why is Peach's castle is located in the middle of nowhere, for one.
I FIGURED out the answer of the Talking Flowers:
The Talking Flowers are based off of the angel's trumpet flower as these flowers have similar designs. The angel's trumpet flower is toxic and ingestion effects could include visual and auditory hallucinations. The Talking Flowers are visible and can be heard so they could be visual and auditory hallucinations. It seems like the characters are the only ones who can hear as the Poplins and Prince Florian have no reaction to them. These talking flowers are probably an interesting species of flowers and have true sentience since they seem to interact with the world around them.
Although, you never know what Nintendo could throw at us
Exams consume me, yes, but still, notification squad hasn't died just yet!
Bro when a game where when you touch a flying flower, you transform the entire world, CAN WE REALLY EXPECT ANYTHING LOGIC 💀

I honestly just think he's there to take all the goodies or treasures Mario and company finds along on their adventures, but probably just told Mario and his friends he was an ally and they just accepted him being there. I used to think Nabbit was Bowser Jr in disguise.
1:27 they use the stored dreams of the inhabitants of the area/specific person that touched it, too long in one place the inhabitants dreams, a viewing platform, the one that touched it, then it releases as a defence mechanism, and for why they leave them out, they wild flowers and the world goes back to normal when the seed is collected
weird theory but ok, pretty sure about 90% of that isn't canon

Why does Captain Toad act like he doesn’t know Mario? I get that for other characters he might not know them, such as Nabbit or some random Yoshi’s, but he’s definitely met Mario before.
Talking Flowers are actually a different species that happen to talk, if this helps.
4:56 how come some animals can talk but others can’t?
I take it as some animals are more intelligent than others and learnt to talk, kind of like how in Paw Patrol, maybe dogs are more intelligent so they learnt to talk like humans, but other animals can't.
