I almost never took off the Parachute badge!! It felt so great to have an extended float that completely outclasses the normal twirl. Still cancelable midair, lets you go much farther, insanely accurate jumps, stupid good for stalling in the air, and can go up a wall infinitely!! It's insane to me that the game gives you the best badge in the game soo damn early. I only ever changed it out for the Dolphin (for obvious reasons) and the coin magnet for a last minute purple coin grind for standees post game.
Here's some neat stuff about the Crouching Jump Badge: it starts charging it during a slide. You can also charge it while moving underground using the Drill Mushroom so no need to stop there, and the jump sometimes is high enough to reach the ceiling and start moving up there thanks to the Drill! Basically, you should try this badge with that powerup, they work in tandem very nicely
One small correction: The sensor badge doesn't just sense purple coins and wonder flowers. It also senses secret exits, as well as wonder seeds (after you've already gotten the wonder flower for the latter).
A tip with the invisibility badge, you can mash the X button to send emotes and it helps you locate where your character is. It’s a bit hard to do while platforming, but it works ig.
It’s hard for me to do at the same time as holding the run button. I ended up just having my sister mash the x button for me to beat the final final badge stage.
The wall climb jump sounds great in THEORY, it’s really useless when the Parachute Cap, Floaty Jump, AND Grappling vine let you scale singular walls INFINITELY Edit: Jet run works too, and all four are pretty easy.
Crouching Jump was my go to badge. It helped on almost every single stage and was especially useful for stages where you primarily use the drill powerup.
same, I used it in almost every level! The thing I like about it the most is that it doesn't change the gameplay or mario's moveset, and I can just use it when I want to, unlike most other badges which significant alters mario's moveset and the gameplay
For me floating high jump is the best one because : - you get it relatively early in the game - you can do one sided wall jumps - you keep your normal moveset (unlike parachute cap, the wall jump one and the mid air twirl) because most of the time i just want to chain normal mid air spins - bonus : it plays like new super luigi u which is a game that i replayed so many times Conclusion : you get distance, height and time to adjust
When I first saw the badges in the trailer I didn’t really like the edition of them. But after playing the game I think it was a really cool idea. One of my personal favorite badges is the auto super mushroom badge so you can get a better powerup instead of a mushroom. To be clear I don’t have a ranking or favorite badge yet.
I wish the grappling vine worked more like the grappling hook works in Celeste Classic 2, where you can jump while the hook is touching the wall to get extra momentum. Would’ve easily been one of my faves cause it’s so fun
5:47 I would honestly rank this one higher for how fun it is to pair with the drill mushroom. It’s definitely a more fun ability when you can keep your momentum and for sure one of my favorite ways to speed run levels in this game. I’m excited to see what people could do with the pair in a hypothetical Mario Maker 3
Safety bounce is actually busted in conjunction with the bubble flower because bouncing on a bubble resets your safety bounce. This means that you can use it to infinitely skip across entire pits with ease
Drill power up allows you to jump into enemies from below, if an enemy drops on top of you it will take them out and it'll also block 'some' projectiles from above so it actually adds defense that other power ups don't have. Basically acts like spiny helmet from Mario Maker. I like the floaty jump because it gives aerial control and high jump without having to press any extra buttons, it can work as well as the spin boost badge.
Correction at around 13:13, not always. For example; the secret exit in Bulrush Express requires an elephant powerup be brought in, or the badge be used on the mushroom given at the start of the level.
I don't think there's any level where you need to bring in outside powerups. In this case, I think you're supposed to bring the giant snail from earlier in the level to open up the secret
To correct the placement of the grappling vine, the vine still lets you stall in the air, so the utility of the twirl is not lost. Instead, it can be used to get golden flagpoles (a required collectable) by latching onto the pole itself. Instead of replacing the utility of another badge, it just adds to your moveset. So, definitely top 2 badge for sure.
The parachute cap is best imo, it even allows Mario to climb walls like the vine due to its slow falling and the fact that it can be used as many times as desired.
Honestly, Floating High Jump made Climb to the Beat a lot easier for me -- a lot of the walljumps in the stage make you lose a lot of height, and Floating High Jump pretty much completely counteracts that
The thing I couldn't get used to after the Parachute Cap when switching to the Boosting Spin Jump was that spin jump only works once before landing (including after wall jumps), whereas parachute can be used infinitely. Yeah spin jump gives you more vertical movement, but parachute is just more versatile imo.
Personally I think that the parachute cap is better than the spin boost, because it lets you do one-sided wall jumps, which is just really useful in general
The crouching high jump ability pairs perfectly with the drill powerup, as you can charge it while moving underground, allowing you to pop up and sometimes into the ceiling.
The crouch jump combos super well with the Drill power up, since you can keep your digging speed while charging the jump, and the jump attack extends the full distance
I was... uncharacteristically happy to see the number one pick. It didn't feel _TOO_ OP, because if I used it and reached a _wall,_ I didn't get it back when I jumped OFF the wall. It would've been so easy to abuse it if it reset from walls, but the stages still felt pretty difficult in the late game. The "hop" is perfect in its utility, and if/when I play the game again (Completed it earlier today), I kinda look forward to seeing if there's any other ways to use it.
the grappling vine helped me clear the fluff peaks jump special for the earlier segments because it helps you do wall jumps with less precision and you can cling on the walls a while so you can time your next jump release
I went into this game thinking the grappling vine would be my favorite, but after 100%ing it I can confidently say that the parachute cap is my favorite for so many different reasons.
Another feature about the elephant fruit powerup is the boost in strength, pushing objects that can be pushed is significantly easier, and it allows one to hold extra large objects. I think it also makes pulling things easier too. Also I don't know if you already mentioned these benefits of the elephant fruit powerup already.
The parachute hat is literally the only thing me and my brother have been using minus a few here and there. It’s just too good for safety and making it up a wall. Though when we get the improved spin jump I think we’ll use that more
fun fact: both fast dash and jet run give the same speed boost at max. speed, a 25% boost; just that the jet run feels like more because of the instant-acceleration speedrunners want a talk with you over the fast dash commentary 🙃 also, i love dolphin so much for water levels, but this limits to a solid 4 levels out of the so many levels in the entire game (3 + water wiggler), so imo it does not deserve to be so high ranking in the general of the game
The ! Block badge also adds blocks near the flagpole to assist in getting top flagpole clears. This is really useful for certain stages which require you to bounce off certain enemies which only spawn once, and saves you having to redo the stage for the flagpole
The utility of the Elephant powerup is incredible and I have found that even on some stages that the fruit isn't on, the elephant fruit will make them significantly easier and trivialize certain things since the Elephant drunk and hipdrop will actually defeat some foes you normally can't.
Personally, I think the drill is the best power-up in the game. You can avoid pretty much any obstacle by drilling, and there's no limit, so you can basically be invincible for the majority of a level. And the fact that you can drill under any enemy and instantly kill it is so much better than the fire and elephant attacks, even if it's more complicated. And being able to drill into the ceiling is super useful in a ton of levels, not just the drill-based ones.
Okay but floating high jump #17 is a crime, that badge is top 1 in the game for me. I used it in basically every level except the badge challenges and it just made the game so much easier
I don't think he is. His Shrine ranking video kinda bombed and It was too late and Tears of the Kingdom Discourse is somewhat dead, especially after the "NO DLC Planned" interview.
Glad we all agree that double jump is easily the best. Also I couldn’t bring myself to bring Always Elephant, or any of the power up badges, very highly. Sure it seems nice on paper, but you’ll quickly realize in some levels you may require a bubble flower or drill mushroom to get certain collectibles, and it’s now literally impossible to get them unless you disable the badge
@@broshi1752 I know, but it's only around 1/4 or 5 levels that gets me a Bubble Flower, so the convenience of not needing to go to one of the levels with a Bubble Flower to get Bubble Mode is good.
Honestly, the parachute cap is just an all around great badge, it gives great mobility, can get you out of sticky situations, and really unique to. My top three would probaly be 1. Parachute cap 2. Wall jump 3. Run float
@@AlphaFX-kv4ud I feel like it is just good for when u don’t know what a stage is gonna bring, and it helps you get to places that could be harder to reach than normal

I used the Floating High Jump for a majority of my playthrough. There were so many times when i was just barely able to reach something because of the extra height I had, and that made it extremely useful for me.

“In my opinion though, your not really going to need them. Personally I wasn’t at risk of getting a game over. I just got so many coins normally that I didn’t need to worry about.” NSMB2: *rises out of hell with boss music* Who dares summon me!!?
Personally I think Drill is the best powerup in general. Being able to jump into enemies from below, and defeat larger/spiked enemies (such as Bulrush or Piranha Plant) with the ground pound is really nice. The burrow can also safely defeat enemies if you jump while directly beneath them. You don't have to worry about getting hit while in the air trying to stomp them, or missing a jump entirely. There are some cases where Drill can also take the "Elephant only" brick block paths/puzzles. This is because they can dig under the bricks and break them as long as the flooring can be burrowed in. Can't also forget that you can't take damage from enemies when burrowed. Elephant kinda loses its worth once you've already gotten all the collectables or don't need Coins anymore (since they tend to involve watering flowers if it requires Elephant). At that point it only has the trunk swing melee attack (and carrying giant shells in SPECIFIC levels). Reflecting projectiles is cool and all... until you remember Drill can just hide underground and avoid them (most of the time). Fire Flower is just a worse Bubble. The only niche is that the fireballs are much faster, can trigger explosive enemies from a distance (instead of Bubble just immediately defeating them), and breaking ice blocks. Bubble works VERY well in tandem with Drill. If you have one, you should have the other in your item storage slot. The combined mobility/defense of the 2 is perfection.
Not gonna lie, after TotK, FF16, Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty, AND BG3, I was NOT expecting Mario Wonder to be my GOTY. It made me feel a serotonin rush I haven’t felt in YEARS. Kudos to the team, probably best platformer i’ve played since Super Mario World, if not ever. edit: I saw number one coming a mile a way, love that badge, I feel it’s fair to give it to us last, if I had gotten that badge early game i probably wouldn’t have tried any other badge.
The crouching high jump is actually a lot of fun to use with the drill mushroom since you can charge it while moving around underground. You aren’t slowed down while using it that way and it’s easier to get into the ceiling. I recommend it for each level that is built around the drill power-up.
I swear the Infinite Wall Jump is like the one point Parachute Cap lovers bring up for why their badge is the best like TALK ABOUT THE INTENDED USE PLEASE YOU'RE GETTING REPETITIVE VERY FAST
the drill power up is extremely good because it makes you completely untouchable, and you dont even lose any speed!!! there are so so so many places in the game where this power up completely cheeses the challenge bc you can just dig under or over it, especially if you combine it with the crouching high jump to easily jump to the ceiling whenever you want
honestly i agree with this ranking almost %100. The only thing i would say though is that the dolphin kick would be lower on my list imo. I just honestly never used it outside of the already under-water levels but other than that i definitely agree with all the other rankings. especially #1, I NEVER used any other badge after getting that one LOL
6:09 Mario Bros. 2 is a really good and underrated game, but it's a really hard game in almost every aspect: -Phanto Masks that chase you, which gets increasingly more notorious as you progress -Labyrinths that really require thinking(remind me of Zelda 2 because they don't have map) -Stressful bosses like Mouser. I'm right now through 4-3. Do you want to hear about warps?
I really liked the badge panel idea. I had no idea what was about, the badges I mean. I liked the fact I was able to purchase some badges. It reminded me of Mario Party Wii when I was able to purchase mini-games.
I used the parachute hat for almost the entire game, only taking it off when I really needed to. Eventually, near the end of the game, I opened my eyes to the spin jump badge and I have not taken it off since
I watched Nathaniel B's Ranking Earlier and out of all the badges, only 3 of them tied. Those being 24: The Invisibility Badge. 4: Timed High Jump. and 1. Boosting Spin Jump. Sensor almost tied, but they were one apart from each other, His being at number 12 and yours being at number 11.
I had to put a piece of cello tape vertically over my entire monitor while completing the invisible portion of the final badge challenge. You still have to gauge your jump arcs, but knowing the character always lands within the width of the piece of tape was really helpful. Never used the badge otherwise.
at 7:00 you say you can no longer twirl, which is kinda true, the beggining press shoots out the vine, but if you press it again right after it shoots out, youll twirl. its finicky, but works
Imagine Maio Maker 3 with predeterminded badges for levels. A few more ideas: - Always crounching - Always a spefic transformation (maybe one hit death or auto powerup) - Floating Ability (Peach) - Grab Enemies (SMB2) - Play a spefic character (Yoshi, Link, etc. with color variation) - and more
I love Jet Run. I was able to get it early in my playthrough as soon and I (almost) never looked backed. It's so fun breezing thru everyone while playing online and having to crouch to not run to my death lol

@@ChillstoneBlakeBlast yeah… sad if he doesn’t, cool if he does
Glad we all agree that double jump is easily the best.
The only one I used was All Bubble, but it's my second favourite badge behind Double Jump. Bubble is just straight up broken.
@@jameskelly-smith1279 but bubble combined with double jump is even more broken 😃
@@broshi1752 I know, but it's only around 1/4 or 5 levels that gets me a Bubble Flower, so the convenience of not needing to go to one of the levels with a Bubble Flower to get Bubble Mode is good.
knowing how and when to spin in mario galaxy definitely helped me a ton with the bonus spin jump in this game
Odyssey has blessed us with an early video.
Honestly, the parachute cap is just an all around great badge, it gives great mobility, can get you out of sticky situations, and really unique to. My top three would probaly be
1. Parachute cap
2. Wall jump
3. Run float
Why wall jump? It gives a slight boost next to walls but there are three other badges that let you climb walls infinitely super easily
@@AlphaFX-kv4ud I feel like it is just good for when u don’t know what a stage is gonna bring, and it helps you get to places that could be harder to reach than normal
The crouching high jump badge is my favorite badge because of how it doesn't change the gameplay or mario's moveset, which I can just use it when I want to, unlike most other badges which significant alters mario's moveset and the gameplay
I used the Floating High Jump for a majority of my playthrough. There were so many times when i was just barely able to reach something because of the extra height I had, and that made it extremely useful for me.
Something about your voice makes these tier list videos so much more entertaining, please do a ranking on all the Mario power ups
prossafia gaming being in the spoiler section was too funny💀
I watched both this and Nathaniel Bandy's back to back and here are how they add up:
24. Both Invisibility

So in total they have 2 in the same spot and 22 not.
They have 3 in common, timed high jump is in 4th place on both
amazing new video, been subbed for awhile and cant wait for 200k!
“In my opinion though, your not really going to need them. Personally I wasn’t at risk of getting a game over. I just got so many coins normally that I didn’t need to worry about.”
NSMB2: *rises out of hell with boss music* Who dares summon me!!?
Bro said “I’m not like the other girls” by putting parachute cap at #2 😂
Personally I think Drill is the best powerup in general.
11:05-11:13 When I watched a playthrough of World 1, I immediately knew something of interst was down that pipe
The crouching high jump is actually a lot of fun to use with the drill mushroom since you can charge it while moving around underground. You aren’t slowed down while using it that way and it’s easier to get into the ceiling. I recommend it for each level that is built around the drill power-up.
The parachute cap alsso lets you climb walls by wall jumping and then using the parachute to float back on the wall you jumped off of.
I swear the Infinite Wall Jump is like the one point Parachute Cap lovers bring up for why their badge is the best like TALK ABOUT THE INTENDED USE PLEASE YOU'RE GETTING REPETITIVE VERY FAST
Glad you're here with the badge video, i had a few disagreements with Nathaniel bandy's video
Feels great when I pick a power up to be my favorite and use it throughout basically my whole playthrough and Odyssey Central ranks it at #1
the drill power up is extremely good because it makes you completely untouchable, and you dont even lose any speed!!! there are so so so many places in the game where this power up completely cheeses the challenge bc you can just dig under or over it, especially if you combine it with the crouching high jump to easily jump to the ceiling whenever you want
Floating Jump is top 3 Badges in the game. Higher jumps means more mobilty. It's ALL jumps. So much parkour increased.
Excited for the new Wonder videos!
honestly i agree with this ranking almost %100. The only thing i would say though is that the dolphin kick would be lower on my list imo. I just honestly never used it outside of the already under-water levels but other than that i definitely agree with all the other rankings. especially #1, I NEVER used any other badge after getting that one LOL
One addition to the invis badge: When you emote it should show it directly over your head, meaning that you can get a better idea of where you are
I will actually watch this video after I beat the game, but I will go ahead and predict that this was an great video!
The most common thing odyssey says is "some are bound to be worse than others".
"Cringe (Rosalina)"
"Bones for Smash"
6:09 Mario Bros. 2 is a really good and underrated game, but it's a really hard game in almost every aspect:
-Phanto Masks that chase you, which gets increasingly more notorious as you progress
-Labyrinths that really require thinking(remind me of Zelda 2 because they don't have map)
-Stressful bosses like Mouser.
Same with sound off (23 vs 22)
I had to put a piece of cello tape vertically over my entire monitor while completing the invisible portion of the final badge challenge. You still have to gauge your jump arcs, but knowing the character always lands within the width of the piece of tape was really helpful. Never used the badge otherwise.
at 7:00 you say you can no longer twirl, which is kinda true, the beggining press shoots out the vine, but if you press it again right after it shoots out, youll twirl. its finicky, but works
Imagine Maio Maker 3 with predeterminded badges for levels.
A few more ideas:
- Always crounching
- Always a spefic transformation (maybe one hit death or auto powerup)
- Floating Ability (Peach)
- Grab Enemies (SMB2)
- Play a spefic character (Yoshi, Link, etc. with color variation)
- and more
I love the boosting spin it is super useful👍
I love the pun involved with the elephant power up. Elephant Apples.
I love Jet Run. I was able to get it early in my playthrough as soon and I (almost) never looked backed. It's so fun breezing thru everyone while playing online and having to crouch to not run to my death lol
S tier: double jump twirl
F- tier: whatever else
