Thanks for FIRTAN. I missed that one. It's raining here, so perfect. Also, you got shouted out over on Metal Meltdown for that terrific interview. Well done, and thanks for mentioning PINCER CONSORTIUM. No one cares yet, but it's some badass Sci-Fi death metal. Beertime!
I've been jamming The new Flotsam And Jetsam the last couple of days, it's another super solid album by these Vets, they've been on an absolute tear since their 2016 Self Titled. Really like Legions Of Doom aswell, I'm a big fan of Trouble, and this really hits that spot. Great to hear Karl Agell again, I've not heard him since COC Blind album, back in 91 🤘🤘
Trouble made some of the most iconic doom metal releases of the 80's, and C.O.C made one of my favorite albums in the 90's with 'Blind', so combining Trouble members with Karl Agell in Legions of Doom should be right up my alley! Will definitely check it out! 👍 (Though Eric Wagner is a hard front man to replace... R.I.P.) 😟
I'm usually awake at midnight on Thursday, when I can finally get releases I've been salivating for all week. Then I party Friday Night. Saturday mornings, you release a video and I'm like "Oh Fuck I missed that!?!"
Hey man, definitely check out this Egyptian themed death metal band called Apep. They just released a new album yesterday titled Before Whom Evil Trembles.
Rut - Morbid Thoughts is my favorite Death Metal album of 2024. It's the band's first full length release and it's full of killer old school Death Metal.🤘🏻
Oceans of Slumber is definitely my #1 for the week so far, but I was ever so excited for a new Stryper album and it did not disappoint. Despite the subject matter being FAR removed from my own interests, Stryper rule.
No, Wolfheart? They are just workhorses putting out consistent album after album. Great release. Good call on the OOS. They have multiple releases that are fantastic and are still under the radar for some reason. 🤷🏻♂️ Great show!
Can anyone recommend new bands that are in the vain of Iron Maiden or Symphony X. Killer musicianship with awesome clean singing vocals. PS already know about and love Nospun.
OK, so a couple of weeks ago you said that the top 5 is about the "underground" bands, yet Oceans of Slumber has multiple records on Century Media, and I have never heard of A Killer's Confession or 156/Silence. Is Trelldom with its 4K monthly spotify listeners not underground because Gaahl is in it? I am so confused by the criteria here..
I am just as shocked as you but look at Killers Confession and 156's monthly Spotify listeners. I've never heard of these bands before their record hit my inbox. Then I look them up and I'm like 🤯🤯 Now compare that Oceans monthly listeners. I am surprised every week, just goes to show that I live in a death metal bubble. I did an episode many months ago about a band called Currents. I had never heard of them before and they have a million monthly listeners. Apparently they are HUGE! For reference Cannibal Corpse was at 700k at that time. And yes I did make an exception for Trelldom because of Gaahl. If he starts a side project it's not going to be very popular but it's still news worthy because of his status as a historical figure.
the term "underground" is so extremely subjective I've noticed. I have always considered mainstream music as music that comes to you say through the radio, films, retail stores etc In that case like 99.99% of metal is technically underground. Unless there is some middle term I am not aware of. But whenever someone says Dimmu Borgir is a mainstream band I laugh. They are popular sure but I can't see Walmart playing them anytime soon.
Stryper I'd say is the most 'well known', but I think definitely in metalcore genres like As I Lay Dying and August Burns Red, those bands are more popular.
True. Are they overtly a Christian band like Stryper is or are they a metal band whose members are Christian? I'm not super familiar with either bands lyrics.
@@heavymetalphilosophy they don’t overly say things like Jesus or God, but they have many songs that are prayerful discussions with the creator about life, BUT their members are Christian. One of the songs off messengers by August Burns Red said “Lord show me the way, let my words be your words, and my thoughts be your thoughts.“
@@SeaAndSkinMusic I got that information from them. They never claimed to be a christian band and they've been asked in interviews, plus Tim walked away from his faith a long time ago. But if you consider them a christian band that's cool
I look forward to these videos every week man. We appreciate you dude 🤘
That makes me feel good. Thank you! 🙏🤘
Thanks for mentioning Firtan!
Firtan rules! 🤘🤘
soooo many records every week, unbelievable...
September is particularly stacked. I think everyone is still trying to push out now to have something to fall tour on. 😁🤘🤘

Detail: Uncle Melty brought your interview up twice during his interview. If you're watching, HEY MELTY!
Really?! Amazing. I need to see it and thank him. Do you have a link for me?
@@heavymetalphilosophyjust his youtube channel. It's right there.
Pincer Consortium sounds interesting. Love me some Nocturnus/Nocturnus AD so Sci-Fi Death Metal is always welcome.🤘🏻
I need to give that Firtan record a few more spins. It didn't quite hit the mark with me but I reckon it'll be a grower.
Black, hardcore, death, progressive, etc. This week has it all.
Great job on this loaded week.
Thanks Sal! 😁🤘🤘💪💪
I always love to see what your suggestions are. You really dig deep too! Keep rocking!
And Wolfbrigade was exactly what I needed to hear this week!
Thank you Mr. Stingray. And thank you for being here on the regular. 🙏🤘
Thanks Jon.
Find new metal each and every post, even months late.
I opened up my app and thought, "Brian is catching up again." 😆
Much appreciated that you still find these. Thank you. 🙏🤘
The Winterfylleth one is one of my favorite releases of the year. Blew me away.
Indeed. Killer record! 🤘🤘

Always look forward to new Flotsam and Jetsam. I've been listening to them since I was a junior in Highschool in 1986! Insurrection is a banger🤘
Love that all these big vets are still going! 🤘🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophy Absolutely 🤘Death Angel is another band that has put out their best albums in the last 8-10 years!
Found lots of gems because of your recommendations. Keep 'em coming 🤘

It's got its rough spots, but it's kinda awesome :)
I'm gonna watch that interview of you 'n Cam when I get home.
New Oceans of Slumber is SICK.

New POST LUCTUM "Forced To Watch You Wither" is damn great.

Jane Addiction's story Aarruugghhhhh fight fight I was really thought was show part just over moshpit on stage haaaa
Crazy right?! Those dudes are like 60!
Most of these bands haven't been heard of & will be lucky to be noticed.
EVER!!
You going to review the new whitechapel? First song is so amazing
It hasn't hit my inbox yet. We'll see. If it doesn't I wouldn't be surprised if my editor at Metal Digest assigns it to me

Exmortus? Their latest album has harsh vocals as well as cleans but I think they've done mostly clean albums before
