T.C., this presentation was possibly the best I've seen, no it is the best...your approach his dis-arming and opens the viewer to learn and relax at the sale time...brilliant! Thanks!
In addition to being a worthy addition to any setup, this looks like it could be an awesome machine to introduce kids to making music on synths. My 8 year old is already exploring the digitone, but I think this would be a kickstart into electronic music for any kid.
This is a remarkable performance! In no time at all you make this thing shine. I didn’t need much more encouragement to buy one of these but what you teased out of it during this performance has totally convinced me. Thank you... A new sub for thee sir, peace ✌️
That was f*cking cool, man! I always am totally blown away by your skill with these Elektron machines... I own a Digitakt myself and I barely scratched the surface of it. So you’re a big inspiration on practicing more to get every bit out of these cool musical companions. Keep it up!
I really love this demo, you gave a really raw and honest insight in how it's used and I think you make making sick beats look really easy and fun :) insta sub
I recently bought a Model:Samples and it's bloody fabulous. The sound quality is far better than it's price suggests, and it's one of the most accessible and usable pieces of kit I've ever played. Once you've worked out where some of the features are hidden, because the manual's complete crap!
I like your UA-cam channel, because all your music product videos, are joyful, uplifting, and most of all, fun :-) Your content makes me happy, and adds value to my music life. This video is no exception. I love your personality, thanks for doing what you do.
I think I want one. Never been all that interested in groove box type devices. This one looks really interesting though. Great demo / overview. Richard Devine posted up a couple of short demos on social media. Absolutely blew me away! WOW!
Thank you man! I’m getting to a point where I check to see if you have a tutorial before I commit to buying a new synth lol. I ❤️ your OP-Z tutorials. I was on my way to creating tracks so quickly because of you. Thanks so much!
I could easily own this for years and never get these sounds from it... I know this cus I have a room full of gear but I still have no idea...If only I could buy talent. 🤷♀️
I keep my Monologue in its box after every use, this way it keeps its unbox smell : kinda mix of new strong but warm plastic, and freshly cooked electronic components. I don't care unboxing videos or anything in this department. But god, this Monologue smell... This only happens with this piece of gear, but anyway, thanks Cuckoo to help me think I'm not that crazy :D And big up for your video, excellent as usual!
Ha ha! I KNEW you’d make this device sing and play wondrously, Cuckoo!! I’m wondering if you were ever a Röyksopp listener. I sometimes think of them when you’re playing and experimenting. This of course, is a compliment. ☺️
I've had mine for a few weeks now, and I can confirm that the T1-T6 Track Pad velocity sensitivity is not good (the 16 Trigger pads, though not velocity sensitive, have a nice light touch). Hitting the T1-T6 Track Pads, hard enough to get a sound out of them, makes my finger and wrist joints, hurt after a short while (quick way to get carpal tunnel syndrome). The minimum threshold, for just getting them to trigger at all, is way to high for me. I have developed a few workarounds for this... 1) Go into the Pad/Vel Menu, and leave the Fix-OFF, then turn the VDep, all the way down to 0. This keeps the volume of each track pad hit, loud, while still allowing the modulation destination, to respond to velocity. (NOTE: if you set Fix to a number, then the modulation destination, no longer responds to velocity). (NOTE: Pad settings only effect the T1-T6 Track Pads, and have no effect on the 16 Trigger Pads, the 16 Trigger Pads always send max velocity). 2)If you want to use the Track Pads for velocity, use a yarn/felt covered marimba mallet, or some other soft, heavy item, to smash the Track Pads with. 3) Forget about Velocity on the Track Pads, and only use them for selecting the active track. Then use the 16 Trigger Pads, for recording your hits. This has three advantages: First, it will save your finger and wrist joints. Second, it allows you to vary the pitch of your triggers. And Last, all your triggers will sound a max velocity, even with a light touch (you can change the volume of each hit manually afterword). Until (if ever) Elektron releases a firmware update to address this problem, I hope these workarounds help.
Watching this at work, I'm absolutely jamming out in my office right now. That's a right proper beat you've got there, damn. Love the style of your video too, I need to check out more of your content especially now that I know you've messed with Pocket Operators too!
I remember selling my Korg Electribe 2 after 2 month.. its awesome in the beginning cause you make nice sounds instantly but then you played yourself through pretty fast and cant progress really further to big sounds or tracks. In the end its just a toy for short fun sessions... my opinion on those kind of hardware. Just rethink what you want to do in future with your music before buying those kind of gear an end up being bored after a short time.
I totally agree, 100% ~ although i don't need anymore gear, - retired now, - i would always save my pennies for the stuff i knew i wanted to to buy that i knew i'd never sell. - gear that would always be useful, and adaptable.. like if i was looking at something like this, i'd say to myself, - wait another month and maybe buy an MPC ONE, - or wait until after superbooth and see what else is coming. the issue these days, IMO, is the market for electronic music devices is so much bigger than it was in the 80s, when i started buying gear, that the new market knows there's a massive demographic of hipsters who have grown up around, and with, disposable incomes.. I'd rather have instruments that i can create my own sonic character on, than something that just sounds like the soundtrack to an animated kids tv show... ~ but perhaps being an old dog, i'm missing the point entirely.. just my thoughts and opinions, not knocking anyone or any company ~love to ALL, feel no hate~
I would like to add that it can be important to know why you want the expensive hardware. I think it’s easy to get something really expensive packed with a ton of features and not really know why you got it. This is how I feel with ableton live in ways, I mean it’s awesome but I don’t know if I should have made the jump so quickly. I like cutting my teeth on cheap beginner products and then hopefully trading them in when you realize their limitations. I bought an old mpk mini that didnt even have one of those joy sticks so I was like next midi controller NEEDS to have pitch and mod, and I know these are givens on all gear, but I think there is something personally gratifying of mastering a piece of gear, seeing its limitations, imagining what kind of gear would solve those problems, and then getting it and having a blast. So depending on your skill on knowledge this could be a stepping stone or a dead end!
Hello Cuckoo, I Love your Videos. I am looking for a small portable Groovbox. Pocket Operator Speak and K.O. are no longer enough for me. I'm looking for something for little money to take with me on the go, not that complicated, standalone with Batteries or Akku. Can you recommend me something there ...? Greetings from Berlin
Hi, Just a question. Does the quantize of model Cycle works with percentage as Syntakt ? Can i decide for each trig percentage of quantization ? Thanks on advance Best F.
It didn't seem like the sounds really progressed into something different over the course of the video. Cuckoo can it do more sounds or is that its palet?
it's a 4op fm synth so the sounds it can create are somewhat limited compared to 6-8 op synths. if you'd like a more fleshed-out fm synth i can recommend the preenfm2, it's pretty great. costs about the same as a model:cycles, though, and you miss out on the groovebox stuff, obviously.
Hello cuckoo I recently started getting into synthesizer and other various types such as the op -1 and op-z but I find myself getting a bit bored of the two. I will add I’ve tried novation circuit, Roland 101 , pocket operator etc what will you recommend for me something a bit more fulfilling we’re I can do all but with professional quality? Please help me. You make some good music with pretty much everything you can get your hands on! Thanks for your time and videos be safe
Thanks man. I think the professional quality lies waiting in the depth of most machines. You just need to be willing to put in the time and effort. But each machine has their identity in sound and sequencing style for sure. Are you looking for love performing a track, or for recording and producing a track? Or more like just jamming? Perhaps you could try something like the Digitone for a clean fresh FM style take on things? Or the Tempest for something a bit more quirky? Most “professional” tracks are produced with a lot of attention to details, and a great understanding for how to make all the sounds glue together and form this fat sound. Although the raw recordings have to be good, a lot of the “pro signature” probably happens in the production following the recording.
Can you control other synths and daws with its sequencer via MIDI (I mean sending MIDI notes not only MIDI clock) like with Electribe 2 and Novation Circuit? Thanks
I hope that the people behind this synthesizer are paying you something! This is how a good demo should be! Thank you for sharing, for the music and for the good energy!
All your jams are like a spacy, award winning, animated short film
😍
@@truecuckoo it sounded beautiful with the chords and stuff
Well, every phenomenon will, ultimately be reduced to exactly what it is.
All this editing makes me so happy. No one else's videos look like this.
Haha, thanks a lot! I wannna make more videos like this. I really enjoy it 🥰
ditto!!
2 mins into the video cuckoo has a dope lil loop started. Probably the most entertaining gear reviewer on UA-cam!
This is exactly what I wanted to see when deciding to buy Model:Cycles. Just a musician playing music and jamming and having fun.
Cuckoo is the best. He shows us how to fall in love with making music on everything he touches
Your enthusiasm is infectious. It's like you were born knowing how to use it! ( I realise this is actually many years of mastery)
This was amazingly mental. Please do a Mega Tutorial like the one you did for Model Samples a year ago!!
T.C., this presentation was possibly the best I've seen, no it is the best...your approach his dis-arming and opens the viewer to learn and relax at the sale time...brilliant! Thanks!
I learn quite a bit about the Model Cycles watching you creating with it, as well as being entertained!
In addition to being a worthy addition to any setup, this looks like it could be an awesome machine to introduce kids to making music on synths. My 8 year old is already exploring the digitone, but I think this would be a kickstart into electronic music for any kid.
I was just thinking this.
Funny I just showed my son this
🤔So, one can transpose and manipulate midi patterns live in real time?
Agreed so much and the samples or better yet iPad pros are my favorite tool I’ve used for music making
Next to playing drums
you are one of my inspirations for sure! λατρεύω τους θορύβους σου
Mesmerising sound and a real privilege to watch someone so skilled at work. Thanks for sharing dude, truly inspirational 🙏

Thanks a lot Rob! Yeah I like this little thing more than I expected!
I hope to see more model cycles videos from you in the future. Such a unique box.
Looks like it could be next to a windows xp pc on an office but it seems to be pretty fun.
Digging exactly this vibe, also with the Model:Samples :D
Bro this editing is actually so fresh
best demo of its synth-like sound capability, cheers!

very inspiring demo. always a pleasure watching you mangling a synth. Cheers!
Damn you Cuckoo, you make me want to buy every single piece of gear...
Looks really intuitive in your hands. I know I wouldn't know where to begin.
Love that it’s even got effects.
Lovely stuff! I could listen to this all day
What an amazing little groovebox. I fell instantly in love with it from your demosntration, thanks Cockoo!
no blabla and good music, i like this kind of demonstration video :D
You my friend are burdoned by complete genius!
The zoom in at the beginning on your hands tripped me out lol
Fantastic performance. One of the best from you

The picture-in-picture zoom effect... such production value! 🤣
Luke Lendrum facts 😂
Love it. Really this made me decide to buy one. It was sooo good watching do this mesmerising demo. Thank you
Gotta admit, Cuckoo, I'm a fan! You've got a cool approach to things. Your accent's really neat, too (as an East Coast Canadian listener, that is.)
I love how you make it sound.
I guess one day im going to buy a model cyclesm

Every video I'm boppin my head
Love what you can get out of the model samples
Dude! The editing is so goood!!!
Love the demo!
Dude,great work !
Thank you for these happy little beats 😊
Not many videos start with taking a sniff of a new toy. Love it.
8:25 sounds a lot like some of the music in the SNES Shadowrun game.
I love your content and music. Great job sir and congrats on the new album!
this box sounds so much like "The Knife" i love it . (they used a machinedrum, yes)
Zydiz The Knife sounds much like Virus (not Corona..)
I could easily own this for years and never get these sounds from it... I know this cus I have a room full of gear but I still have no idea...If only I could buy talent. 🤷♀️
if you see a good deal for Talent, I'll go halves with you mate ;
Pat I’ll buy shares in some talent if you know anyone selling.
It’s not fair is it?
just stop buying stuff and force yourself to create instead of procastinating.. same goes for me
no talent required just a lot of time and work.
It prints labels too !
Watching you move.. is making me.. learn this synthesizer! Nice job man. You're an elektron ninja!
Very tempted!!

I love all your videos Cuckoo! Is there any chance you will be doing a Model:Cycles Mega Tutorial in the near future?
Thanks! Yeah planning to do it very soon.
Truly a clear demonstration, thank you
There are many excellent synth reviewers but none as entertaining and creative as Cuckoo.
🙏🏼
The editing in this video is amazing too
It looks like it is easy to tweak on, not to complex. I bought Model:Samples a month ago, but this one looks so much fun. Now I feel like having both!
Looks like something Panasonic or Akai would’ve had designed by a Deiter Rams protege.
Matt Portnoy lmaooo I was thinking the same
Ha ha! I KNEW you’d make this device sing and play wondrously, Cuckoo!! I’m wondering if you were ever a Röyksopp listener. I sometimes think of them when you’re playing and experimenting. This of course, is a compliment. ☺️
Sarah Michelle I thought of Royksopp too 😊
he recently used the lyrics to poor leno in a video, i think it was about the PO-33 - so it is safe to say that he definitely knows Röyksopp

The sound itself is pretty like the digital KORG volca drum: metallic percussion style. But of course, Elcktron's sequencer is far beyond the volcas'.
Hey Cuckoo, every device you try, it sounds super funky and cool!!

Looking for a drum machine but wanted the volca FM. Is this basically those combined?

Brilliant demo... much appreciated!
"it's begging me to go" is so massively relatable
Awesome! Is the recording multitrack? I.e. can all the layers you created be exported to a DAW individually ? If so, that would be amazing.
u nailed the face cam more than anyone on youtube
Beautiful melody!
supercool jam. It's even more inteteresting watching you play when you got the machine used yourself .(;
you're a wizard! loved the vibes of this jam!
Also in your keystep the g# key (the black one!) does not work!?
Can you create a sequence using your DAW?
Basically using various MIDI In channels to control individual
tracks/instruments?
hmmm, a new FM toy, must sit down and investigate and find its context. Thank you for making it look so easy :-)
