Brian’s great at creating the counters, and it makes you think about what we really want from the game. Hard hits, or contact/small ball. I favor hard hits because that means more barrels and better efficiency. This will push away the extreme launch angles since barreled ground balls are hits.
The best part about the rule changes is that it allows players like Mauricio dubon bat at a 300 tp exist bc he's all contact and not alot of power and it just makes the sport more fun.
I'm not a fan of the rule changes at all - the pitch timer is silly, as is the batter timer. I don't like that a team can't shift the players wherever they want either. If you want to cut time then cut the advertisements between innings. Just my 2 cents worth - I don't like the changes. I also think that the umpiring so far this year has been atrocious but that's another discussion entirely.
Exactly! This Pitch Clock has made baseball so boring and unnatural. If they switch the in between intervals back down 60 seconds from what it used to be from 120 seconds. Then I wouldn’t mind so much of these games going quicker.
I don't mind the pitch clock, but the shift rule is ridiculous to me, the point of a defence is to put your 7 (moveable) guys wherever you want to best suit the situation of the game, with less shifting there's less thinking
Someone said many players are hitting, offense is up.Clock favors hitters, limiting pickoff attempts favors offense, steals are up,ballparks are still pretty easy to homer!

@@ryanolson2308 actually not every pitcher did - some could hit quite well. I liked making the pitchers hit - it's the way the game was designed from the start and should still be.

@@ryanolson2308 Having the pitcher hit made the managers actually manage the game. In a close game, pinch hitting for the pitcher was a pivotal decision. Made the game more intricate. Now you just set your pitching line-up and run it each game: starter, set-up 1, set-up 2, closer. It's boring.
The pitch clock isn't the reason the game has more offense. I've been to games and it's forced to move too fast some of the time. Some of the rule changes have been good, but the clock is bad overall. I hate going to the ballpark for a game now. You can't go to the bathroom. You can't watch the game and also explain what's happening to your kids.... who are the next generation of players. You can't tell stories or enjoy your friends company while closely following the game. A group of my high school friends went to a game to celebrate a few 50th birthdays, and I just gave up trying to talk and watch. In the end, we would've been better off having a barbecue at someone's house with the game on in the background. It felt like a waste of time, money, and effort to get everyone to the ballpark. There's very little reason to go through all the trouble to get into the ballpark for a 2 hour game that you can't even enjoy. Hell, going to the bathroom can take almost a full inning. I've loved the game my entire life. It's hard to support this bullshit though.
MLB network loves changes MLB made to the game. Shocking. The pitch clock is a farce. There have been so many ridiculous "violations" this season. The rule isn't clear, and faster isn't better. Also, the idea that professional players don't have a "two strike approach" is stupid. If your bat is properly fitted you shouldn't have to choke up to get better barrel control. This is stupid outdated thinking. Modern players all swing custom bats. Choking up on them would just throw the balance off. That's why you don't see it any more. These guys think that the way they did it is the only way.
Love it but I hope and pray that baseball don't bring the AI strike zone. Gotta keep the human aka home plate ump. Yea I knoooo sometimes they call bad calls. But that's part of the game. And wat makes the game genuine and brings some unpredictable situations and coaches arguing calls. Etc. Ump is part of the game !!
Agreed! My only other fear is that the pitch clock might ruin the beautiful tense, edge of your seat feelings that late-inning postseason moments bring. All for the sake of speeding the game up. Again I understand we gotta speed up regular season play, but I hope there’s an exception come postseason play
You do know that they're considering it because umps are so bad at their jobs and their union is so strong that MLB isn't allowed to fire them, right? The "human element" argument hold no water when said humans are consistently bad at their jobs.
you gonna explain why you think it’s garbage? pitch clock cuts down on unnecessary dead time between pitches and it’s hardly invasive, the data clearly shows it’s a good thing for the game, and if you wanna say the violations are ruining the game guess what, the pros will adjust ! of course we’re gonna see hiccups in the first years it’s implemented

I agree Brian is a seasoned pro where he’s know to counter but not make it rude or aggressive
Third this. I really enjoy MLB Networks coverage. I'd honestly take longer videos if they can swing it
Now cut 36 minutes of commercials, and we’ll have something.
