If it turns out reduce center sharpness, then it is not a good one. because speedbooster actually slight increase center sharpness, and somehow correct a bit chromatic aberration. It however reduce corner sharpness a bit which make sense. so my f1.4 lens actually performance better at f1.4 with speedbooster in the center area. The speedbooster I am talking about is metabones.

hello ! do you think I can use my lens Sigma 30mm f1.4 ex dc on my g7 with this focal reducer?

This is for m4/2 lenses right?

I have the same adapter for my G85 and FD 50 f1.4 and it fits snug. No play whatsoever. Maybe it is a matter of quality control?

why would you record sound with your camera anyway?

I own the same pixco and same lens and I get great footage with this combo on my g7. BTW, I get sharper images with the speedbooster than the regular adapter which I also own

I look forward to comparing the sharpness with a Metabones- which I plan to borrow from a friend.

@gPhotonica CA Late reply here. But at a guess, I would say it's because adding an extra lens only lowers focus acuity. Over most of the lens, this may not be bad. But try and get the outer most portions of the lenses into use and you may be pushing the physics of lens functioning too far. PLUS, I don't know about the Tokina, but I have experience with the Samyang and I know their 35mm is unusable wide open. Even without an extra lens added to the mix. (Very nice 1-2 stops down, though.)

Is there a focal reducer that can be used with a Rokinon 14mm m43 mount on a m43 camera? I got a pretty killer deal in auction for the lens(mint condition for $130) but its a m43 version... it does appear i can remove the mount but it'd be cool if there was something else I could do to get that extra 20-30° and extra stop if light. I feel like I basically bought a much larger manual version of my panasonic 14mm...

If the mount can be taken off the lens, maybe. But then the focal reducer would still need to get cocked to the other mount (EF, Nikon, etc.), which is probably not on that version of the lens. If it's a duplicate lens for you, might be easier to just sell it.

Ooops, according to you crops with matched framing, it appears that the speedbooster INCREASES the DOF! I thought it would do the opposite... I mean the images with an Eiffel tower and a flower branch...

Higher depth of field is caused by taking in more light via a larger aperture. 35mm film camera lenses are equivalent in size to full frame, which is why you run into cropping when you use them on DSLR with less than a full frame sensor. Focal reducers/speed boosters shrink the image coming out the lens to match the smaller sensor, but you're still getting the same amount of light. Because m4/3 sensors are 1/4th the size of full frame, you're getting 4 times as much light by using a speed booster, meaning the relative depth of field will go WAY up.

Can't say anything about this model but I wouldn't buy one under a Zhongyi or a Baveyees...Both of these are great quality with the Zhongyi being a little sharper and my favorite. The worst one I have is the Viltrox and I wouldn't buy one again. They have a visible screw on the inside of the mount holding in the back lens...They shipped it with a one of those little bags of moisture reducer sitting inside the lens on the surface of the outer lens. It fit on my EPM2 but would not turn or lock into place on my Olympus OMD-EM1...On the other hand...The Zhongyi and the Baveeyes...around 140.00 I have no complaints with...Why do I have so many???..Nikon and M42to Fuji...and now a Zhongyi Nikon to macro4/3rds..This is worth the little extra bit of money..

Secure the speed booster with teflon (plumbers) tape.

William Ridenour I took a brush and gave a careful coat of silicone glue on the mount, waited for it to dry and now it fits perfectly without play.

I'm a bit confused. You applied the silicone glue to the adapter--right? Not the camera. Right?
I've never heard of silicone glue. It sounds like it might work with my FD to MFT speed booster adapter--it's loose.

    • @burgulize

William Ridenour The Idea behind this was that silicone is flexible and will add a thin layer between the elements so they could fit snugly. Any 'flexible' glue can be aplied, I just happen to have the silicone in a small tube lying around. I'm sure you can find it in home depo, it's great for glueing tiles and such and you can always trim it off with a knife if aplied too much.

Does teflon tape powderize in the long run? If it does, the powderized tape will fall into the sensor. What do you think? Thanks!

how is the auto-focus with this speedbooster? is it usable?

    • @Vamoshh
      @Vamoshh 6 років тому

Unless the speedbooster has a motor, you won't have Autofocus

This speedbooster is for manual lenses.
