It gives off the "In seven days, everyone you know and love will die. You have one chance" vibes as you're immediately thrust into an apocalyptic situation.
When Story Mode characters fight Wither Storm, it's for the sake of their world and people they love. When *YOU* fight Wither Storm, you do it for the sake of challenge, new feelings, new experience to get reward that still makes you question yourself "Was it worth it at all?" as you see the crashed chunks, remaining corrupted mobs and blocks of Wither Storm stomach all over the area as you left with Unbreakable "Sword/Pickaxe/Axe/Shovel/Hoe" and a "Withered Nether Star"
Well. You can use said corrupted star to create infinite-range beacon, with more powerful effects but... I think even with said beacon it would probably take years irl to at least partially restore the world from said fight.
The Wither Storm as a concept is so genuinely terrifying. The knowledge that, know matter how far you run, how much distance you put yourself between it, whatever materials you make your house out of, this near-unkillable, unstoppable force will always find you, just gives you such a feeling of dread that not much horror mods can do. And also the wither storm kinda looks like Shin Godzilla in the thumbnail and I think thats pretty cool, and pretty fitting considering the concept of Godzilla being an unstoppable force of destruction.
The dread from seeing the wither storm on the horizon, creeping ever closer to your makeshift base, is entirely unmatched within the world of Minecraft mods.
I have a friend who completely fails to comprehend this dread, sadly. Siding with the horror mods, he says "The wither storm isn't scary!" "The concept of it isn't scary! I've killed the wither and wither storm many times!" and it does nothing but annoy me.
"within the world of minecraft mods" bro this shit is legit the "I am the smartest, strongest, and most handsome person... at all times... in a 1 meter radius" meme but said unironically
it's incredible how, despite how much Story Mode is despised, and disliked, the Wither Storm is the one aspect of it that has survived. The idea that such a flawed game has a perfect monster is incredible to me.
I still can't believe people hate StoryMode. It's such an awesome game that I feel had a great story. Like, the only thing I can think is the animation is sometimes a teensy bit janky, but it's not that bad. Especially when you compare it to other telltale games that as far as I know they don't get that much hate.
@@mrt_pose How would nuclear toxins stop the movement of particles? I mean, I believe they'd just be carried by the wind. The blast of the nuke though would probably get rid of it, but eh, I dunno, I'm no expert.
@@dashdestroyer8238 ah. That's a nice detail but it doesn't communicate a hole being formed in the storm's head. Not everyone who plays this mod has played Minecraft story mode
@@rebbysstuffyou can see if the hole has opened with a phasometer, plus the hole is big and it glows in the dark so just one look at the storm is enough
I pray my tribute to whoever even thought of the concept of the wither storm. This behemoth has quite literally become such an icon and bring so many people to Story mode .
I love the achievements you get with this mod. Especially the 2 for killing the storm the wrong way “The strong grow weak…” “…the weakened arise stronger” are the rawest lines I’ve ever heard in a game about blocks
I added this mode for a finale to a server o had running, made everyone’s get on, and for a full 24 hours, we watched this thing tear our server down, all the buildings and bases, and all we could do was watch till we killed it. After we killed it, we made a tribute at spawn, hanging up the star and the weapons, and then, ended the server. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
The Wither Storm is the Antithesis of Minecraft, and (in my opinion) would not be out of place if added to the base game. It is a being of pure and utter destruction, as opposed to the players ability to create.
Literally the only problem would be the large amounts of destruction (which actually goes against Mojang's guidelines on things to add to minecraft, destruction has to be small in scale, easy enough to fix, and avoidable if the player uses a little care.)
The beast wrecks entire worlds Irredeemably destroying them It fits well in a story, but it would be hated by players. Especially those who are foolish enough to summon it, thinking it's a normal wither.
I think you wouldn’t be able to even summon it in survival because it would require getting hold of a command block, and if they do make it possible to find one in the world, I’d guess it’d be one of an kind.
I've played this mod through twice, with two different groups of friends. The first time was basically us running around like headless chickens, not sure as to what to do, scrambling through the mod's Google Doc as to how to beat it. There was a lot of death, frustration, and fear of the looming superboss that ate the entire earth. The second time around was a lot better, with me having the experience to know what to do and more importantly how to enact it. The second time around, KeepInventory was on, with a backpack mod installed, and this was ESSENTIAL for quality of life, as the Witherstorm is incredibly punishing when you try to make a mad dash back to your loot. I found that there were 3 big problems with the fight overall: 1. Spawn camping was terrible. Until we eventually ran into the Nether and made a base inside it, it was an absolute nightmare if you died, as the Witherstorm has rubberbanding during most of its phases that allows it to catch up to you and your group insanely fast. Couple that with the beams REQUIRING projectiles in order to escape it, lest you just get eaten by it and die, only to get caught again, and it basically meant that until someone managed to free the others, you were just suffering for minutes on end. With that in mind, making a Nether base actually was a really fun experience overall, I'm really glad they didn't do anything where the Witherstorm could enter it or something, because having literal hell be a safehaven allowing us to jump large distances and prep while on a timer was one of the most fun experiences I had in Minecraft. 2. The beams are incredibly unfun. If they had weaker tracking, or a cooldown system, or less costly counters, they'd be fine. But in a world where it's very hard to gather resources, getting picked up 3 times a minute whenever you're near the storm (which is a lot during the mandatory encounters) and being forced to escape by either sacrificing a pearl or getting a good shot off with your limited supply of arrows, to then land a bucket clutch on the ground that is being eaten from under you, and then doing that like 2 more times consecutively, ends up being very frustrating. Again, KeepInventory and a backpack mod ended up being incredibly stress relieving, as it is incredibly difficult to escape without proper equipment. 3. The final fight inside the Witherstorm requiring a pearl per "life" was WAAAYYY too harsh. If Endermen were more prominent, maybe perhaps having them be an actual part of the encounter like in Storymode, having an ample supply of the tool needed to get in would make more sense. But for both runs, especially the first, it was very frustrating to have to either stockpile and ration these hard to obtain resources, or god forbid find a pearl admist the chaos (or better/worse, take a haitus on the FINAL FIGHT to restock on pearls...). Overall, the mod is still incredible. Having the Witherstorm be always rendered was an amazing addition, having it be ever looming and seeing it slowly (or usually very quickly) catch up to you, and the experience of escaping while the world around you was being consumed was very exhilarating. I just think that there's still a decent amount of polish that it needs in order to be a more... balanced fight? Like, not even mentioning Wither Sickness that forces you to either chug a gapple or respawn into the chaos, the mini-boss that tends to just hide itself and have the Witherstorm team up on you (even though it's supposed to relent when the Symbiont is active), and the fights overall feeling like you're missing another tier of defense (perhaps the armor from Storymode?), the mod still has some core issues to it. Still better than the Marketplace version that requires money to play, though.
@@FireofthetigerYT This comment is very insightful of the flaws of cracker's wither storm and I couldn't agree more. This mod has a hefty amount of flaws but when it succeeds it absolutely DOMINATES. Co-Dev here, thank you for the feedback! We don't get many critiques on what people don't like of the mod but we do want to hear feedback like this and the github is always open for it, the issue with needing keepinv is why Phlegm was added which acts as a grave whenever you get chomped, punishing you to make you retrieve your stuff but not deleting everything you had, In the upcoming update we're hoping spawn camping will be less of an issue, as the Wither Storm is meant to ignore players it had recently killed and as well the Wither Storm is meant to cause the player to respawn away from it if it kills them And also I agree the beams are a bit unfun to interact with currently as it feels like you don't have much control, hopefully we can come up with a solution to that but we may also tweak how fast they'll move towards the player (Middle heads are bugged and snap at the player atm) and I do feel escaping beams is a bit too punishing currently With the third one, I'm not sure of any other good way we could tackle entering the Wither Storm
@@KaunaKayla Yea there was a nasty bug that could delete it rarely, but that's been fixed and both the command block book and star will be given glowing on spawning

Inside the heart of the storm, surrounded by the walls of the victimiser, you see it turn its own heads inwards. You see it’s desperation, how it will disfigure itself, mangle its already grotesque figure, just to survive. Inside the monster is a desperate animal, sick and twisted, and burning with resolve to end the monster responsible for what it has become. Two storms, wracked with pain, share their disregard for appearances in the midst of a wish, a dream, a hope. Hubris turns to survival, survival turns to madness. One survives, a mother dies, and both regret ever having been here to begin with. This is Minecraft’s Godzilla.
3:42 the wither storm follows the person who summons it. It won’t trust the owner anymore once the owner starts to attack. This will lead the wither storm to follow you forever.
the Wither Storm was absolutely the best part of Story Mode by far. You have done a great job with explaining the mod and showing the best part of the Wither Storm itself; it's a psychological terror
Absolutely. It's massive size, the insane speed despite its size, the sheer existential threat. I'm surprised no one has made a video essay before about this monster.
@@rebbysstuff also the soundtrack. It’s the second best part of the first story mod, and the best part of the second one. The wither storm theme has literal sirens in it
@@mantelumgamingloilol123 Oh ABSOLUTELY. The theme of the wither storm is genius. The only reason I don't mention it is that I lack musical skill for analysis.
no, it is an eldrich horror, even if not ancient, it still is as powerful and incomprehensible as one, it feels like one to me due to how godlike it is.
@@lourdespachla6516 its kinda both. Less than just a storm its a plague, a meteor, a nuke, and a demon all in one. Eldritch and Psychological horror go hand in hand
this is a great video essay, it's nice to see people sharing their appreciation for such a quality mod. it is weird to not mention the wither sickness effect at all though, or the amulet/phasometer that help a lot with tracking the witherstorm and it's progress, to be honest i kind of expected wither sickness to be the big problem you have with the mod, given how restrictive it is.
The wither sickness did not go with the flow of this video, but I can do a follow up explaining this mechanic as well as miscellaneous details. However, it requires a hefty amount of views for me to consider it.
The Wither Sickness' main problem in my opinion is that, unless you've Formidi-bombed the storm and haven't reactivated it yet or you're in the Nether, there's no reason to cure it. As long as you're in the Wither Storm's range you WILL get the Sickness effect, and even if you use the golden apple stew you'll just be given the effect again before it's healed
@fedethegreat88 If player cure effect with golden apple stew at least one time player still get effect when near to wither but effect no more continues after running away from wither.
When I played this, I had added a mod that overhauled the music, I believe it was called the "Wither Storm V-Sides" mod. The artist named Vertigo did a really good job I remember having to just stand there and listen to the music as the storm tore through rock, consuming the theme for phase 6 - 7 (3 headed phase) is a lot more intense than the others. Guitars blaring, and the drums beating like a machine gun really punctuates *you better run* The old theme for phase 5 had morse code for "START RUNNING" which is a neat detail too. Might just be me, but I think its worth re-experiencing the mod with with this add-on
@@xenomorphlad9895 I need to be honest, I prefer the base themes due to a matter of taste. I do understand tho it's my taste and others may prefer V-sides.
@rebbysstuff that's fair. Personally, I prefer V-sides over the base music. Mainly because it's not as repetitive and because it sounds way better (IMO). Glad you enjoy the base music tho!
I feel like this one mob/monster is the perfect way to combat the hubris of players who assume they can handle anything for the funni youtube engagement bait/views. It's something you have to actively make and bring into the world on your own choice, and basically punishes those who assume they can just summon it, fight it and beat it as-is ez gg no re. And odds are this beast has humbled at least a few people who assumed no minecraft mob/mod that isn't gregtech will ever best them.
To think, that the wither storm just uses a fraction of the power that a command block offers... To think about the monster that brings the command block into existance... To think about the god that cannot be Killed, yet can kill anything with just it's Words. A player in creative mode, the single most powerfull monster that Minecraft has known.
The Wither Storm, a diety of pure destruction. Honestly it is unitentionally is the best horror mod minecraft could have and you explained it perfectly, a simple seemingly impossible bossfight to a faded memory and now a living blackhole that does not care about your progress. It gets 10 times more terrifying when it spawns on a world with weeks of buildings, it gobbles everything up all of your hardwork destroyed in sheer mintues and it would not care. And after the F-bomb fails it just gets enraged, at this point it realizes it is trying to kill you and so this time you won't be the only one suffering Overall this is an amazing mod that could easily be implemented into the base game
6:17 i feel like it’s better to choose the bomb first because as you blow up the witherstorm and look around it’s corpse you see the command block still active making you realise you should’ve used enchanting book for a weapon but it’s too late as the witherstorm starts protecting the command block and rises once again to wreck havoc among the world
Interesting point, I was analyzing this from a gameplay aspect but I guess this boss is more thematic showcase rather than a mechanical one. Still, the point remains that crafting the Bomb before the Tool makes the storm much harder.
When I Saw This Mod Skyrocketing in popularity i was happy, i played mcsm when i was a little kid. i saw content farms making wither warden videos, with a warden head on a wither storm body, this gave me a idea, what would a commanded warden be like, what would it do, i had to design it from scratch, i had to make one, i started by getting a warden model in block bench, i modeled the ribs clenching onto a command block, i later modeled a head, tweaked it a bit, i thought, instead of they eyes why not uses the tendrils as tractor beams, it worked perfectly, it looks great, i have made a phase 3 model which uses the base warden body with the custom jawed head, also with bone plated tentacles coming out of it's back, all pointed up, lastly and the most recent phase is phase 4 currently, its a very large phase, having a very buff humanoid shape, it can walk on it's 2 feet, or run on all 4 of its limbs, it also sports giant boney spikes on its back along with a huge tail, i was thinking how would spawn this thing? well i have a plan for that, you craft a command block with 9 command block books, then go to a natural shrieker, right click then make it shriek, the command block will activate and slowly sink into the shrieker, and then a boss bar will show "Warden Behemoth" slowly growing in health, once it finishes a warden with a command block in it's chest will rise out like a regular warden, it will use the command block to enhance it's sonic boom attack, making it stronger, once it grows to phase 4 it will rise out of the ground above the city, unless there is a way up without digging out. i hope this idea is good.
@@sahilhossain8204 likely not, but maybe once it grows into phase 4 I’ll consider adding a feature like that, though I’m not a experienced mod maker in terms of coding
"A nuke cannof kill a hurricane" It is such a raw line. how ever a nuke could absolutely "kill" a hurricane. After all a storm is just wind and water, easily dispersed in the blast.
It's collected rings of cumulonimbus clouds that are formed by "hot" water that turns into water vapor and becomes clouds, it would just make the storm worse and give it more cloud energy, and radioactive particles will be thrown around causing cancer rate to increase, it will also kill the marine life and you'll get radioactive bony seafood.

I will say, I never thought of the Wither Storm like this before this video, but now, I realize, the Earth is your friend, and you take refuge deep inside of her, as she stops the storm from reaching you, all so you can prepare to end this abomination against life.
Even though you created this abomination meant to destroy the earth, simply for the sake of a challenge, she still remains your strongest ally. She protects you, even though you are solely responsible for what has happened. It really wasn't worth it, yeah?
@idontchuckle6658 indeed it wasn't. And what does this withered star allow you to do? Make a fancy beacon? You could've killed regular withers, but your greed overtook you
Having lived this experience, I felt a lot of this. The way the broken world leaves you empty, only to reflect on whether or not it was worth challenging a god. It's a bittersweet ending. But the only ending that the can player allow for.
Minecraft Story Mode will remain one of my favorite games, and the Witherstorm is a monster that I always will love the concept of. It was executed so well and honestly would be an amazing threat to be added to the main game. The concept of something that just destroys and consumes will always be a favorite eldrich horror of mine. I really love how faithful this recreation is.
What is horrifying to me is that the world of Minecraft Dungeons has -canonically- possibly killed MANY such storms for the weapon of war that is it's becon. Edit: This is entirely my theory that just makes a LOT of sense to me, and I see as true until evidence can be shown Second Edit: OK, I have been corrected. Sorry, guys 😅
@@rebbysstuff Corrupted Nether stars are what are dropped by wither storms. And nether stars are for beacons. 2+2 man. So following this line of thought... yea. It's my head cannon, so let me edit my original message.
The "reflection" part of the video gave me chills... the far away view of the destruction this thing is causing and the sounds... chef's kiss for how wowing it sounds
Honestly the music of the witherstorm is absolutely incredible too. It captures a sense of strange, unknown, looming danfer that seems distant yet approaching rapidly. The team behind story mode cooked with that one.
I always loved Wither Storm as a concept so much. The fact that it takes the main premise of Minecraft (carefully building stuff, putting together intricate structures for your own sake and for the sake of good) and basically twists it, completely flips it around (destroying stuff, but also building upon itself in a chaotic, disorganised manner, for the worse sake)
Up until now, i never truly realised how terrifying the storms music was. Also you can cure the wither sickness with golden apple stew. (I saw it in a video, I may be wrong.) The way you made this was awesome, and I don't care about your thoughts on the hoe, I will still make, slay the Witherstorm with it, The diamond hoe is the best tool in minecraft and nothing can change my mind. (Also, imagine being the Witherstorm, an all powerful being defeated by a literal hoe.)
You did not have to cook this hard on a minecraft mod video essay But I’m glad you did. The wither storm is one of my all time favorite video game antagonists, and this video captured the feeling of it perfectly
Anothee note- if you somehow manage to empty the wither storm's health before it becomes invincible, it INSTANTLY skips to its invincible phase just to fuck with you. This can only be done using the strongest weapons of the mod enchanted with sharpness 5 and using strength potions. So, suffice to say, youre only expected to experience this through creative mode or by spawning in a second wither storm. Nonetheless, another nasty surprise to punish hubris, as this mod is already so good at doing.
It was while I was watching this video that it finally occurred to me that the Wither Storm is not just the cool boss monster thing from Minecraft Story Mode, but it is, in fact, an eldritch horror that scares the living daylights out of me.
honestly, the idea of someone going into this blind is an amazing thought due to how terrifying the witherstorm as a concept is (edit) also love how you arrange the subtitles in such a way that they feel like lyrics to the witherstorm theme
Just to let yall know, if yall are missing story mode there is a remake in the works made by wazzy, he is 16 years old and people are saying it has better grahics than the movie. I would post a link but i am on mobile
A story ends and a new one begins, and a new story is told differently than the previous one, but what makes that story what it is is its main subject. Every legend changes over time but their essence remains the same.
In the start of the song, you can almost hear war sirens. Its almost as if this is like dropping a njke the size of the sun on a world that goes on forever. Compating it is similar to trying to run as far as yoh can from the fallout zone before it destroys everything. But its usually just more work your putting on yourself when there could have been another way. In other words, this is the tsar bomba of minecraft.
love the idea, the creativeness of the vfx. one word of advice though, instead of having the jpeg damage effect cover the whole screen, have it be sort of a vignette effect that grows more or less depending on mood, so its less obtrusive and easier on the eyes.
@@PuddleSpout Yeah that makes sense. Kinda diminishes the quality of the video for some style. Thought I'll keep jpeg damage for certain parts I want distorted
Honestly, i feel like that effect did more than a vignette could've done (in most areas) as it, in a way, symnolises the earth (in general), everything around you and You getting more and more corrupted... or Withered if you will in the later and the middle of the video and in early and other middle parts, kinda symbolises/emphasizes the "OH SHIT" feeling
this is the BEST essay i have ever seen! Wither storm is scary as a concept itself, scarier than most horror, and it's one of the most unique ideas for a monster ever created
One of the little things I appreciate about this video, aside from the pacing, editing, and writing, is the little bits of acting. Or maybe genuine reaction, I'm not very good at telling those things apart. The shaking cursor and camera, the visible _flinching_ at certain sounds, the panicked rush to get away after every strike. Really does sell the idea of a cornered animal. And another thing. About Mother Earth. You can, in theory, run away. Go to the furthest ends of the world, far, far beyond your original spawn point. Where she is still healthy and flourishing. Fostering the living and the undead and the otherworldly all the same. But you'll remember who started this. Who ran, hiding under her skin, who ripped little pieces of her apart for resources to at least slow your pursuer down, who waged wars neither you nor her were meant to bear, who dropped a bomb onto her image, *Who woke up the storm.* Mannnn, this video gave me chills!! I adore it.
if you want a good modpack to play it, explorer's eve is fun. it changes some things about the wither storm to make it more of a constant concern. it also adds some more tools to fight back and its fun to have it chase you through multiple dimensions. its also very light performance wise. and its very replayable with multiple difficultys and a different experience depending on what structures you find. i know this kind of sound like an add but it sort of is as i want more people to know about it so i can see more people play it.
And after all that there's the Eversource mod where you just chill in a Skyblock dimension with a Spawn-Egg factory of a chicken by your side Completely oblivious to the fact the world is ending by an eldritch monstruousity under your dangling feet.
@GoodGamerTMwell story mode was made in 2015 and gen alpha started in 2010, it’s probably more than you think. Also the new generation is gen beta now, not gen alpha
@GoodGamerTMThat’s because the game is now gone, Gen Alpha prolly knows alot of Minecraft story mode than you think, they quite literally grew up with watching that game being played by popular you-tubers. Also to be fair, when the game was still available, gen alpha would’ve been around like 5-10 (maybe?) They didn’t have access to a PC or a console to play it
One thing that is really underrated in the mod is playing after the fight and just doing all the things you would normally do but with a constant un reversible reminder of what has happened and what YOU have done
I absolutely love how fateful the recreation is. i’d love it even more if the ambience really felt like death was looking. the sky turns dark, the blocks that swirl around the storm expanding exponentially as some fall to the ground, the wails of the wither ever encroaching.
Writing this and treating the Earth as a kind, warm, caring mother figure that protects you and helps you in this battle against the very beast you summoned to destroy it, and saying that what's left is just a corpse, MAN it's so good! I never felt this kind of way when using the mod, mainly because I've never done an actual Survival world with it, I've just messed around in Creative Mode.
This video has such a unique narrative angle to it and I love it! I raises it beyond a simple mod review, and elevates it to top tier status! Great work :D

The music at the start almost made me cry, even though i have recently replayed Minecarft Story Mode on my computer through less then ideal means, hearing that music brings so many memories back
I freaking LOVE the fact that you used Excuse to punctuate the Epilogue! That song has been one I've been able to connect with in a way I've connected with no other, and you used it in a very, VERY perfect way!
That final battle part along with the epilogue where you narrated the storm, the fight and the damage it had caused was surreal. Especially the gut-wrenching moment when you described the waste it laid on the earth. 10/10 I'm deeply impressed
I remember that a long while ago when I was first trying out the mod, I got jumpscared by the Wither Storm's Phase 3 popping up from over a mountain. I think that may honestly be one of my personal scariest moments gaming.
You think this is what happened to the old ones ? Minecraft’s ancient civilization that built all the ancient temples . Ruins . Underground end bastions . And skulk citys ? I’ve watched a bunch of game theory’s on the old ones and it’s suspected that they created a wither . Got nearly wiped out by it . Fled underground to make citys . It came for them again . They tried fleeing to another dimension to escape it which lead to the skulk coming into our world . Fled that . Built the underground bastions and tried fleeing again . Ending up in the end … their was always one weak part that bothered me about this theory . The wither . If they made one normal wither . Or even a few in experimentation . How could they wipe out an entire over world spanning civilization ? Which apparently had armys of well equipped people and stuff . What I’m saying is I don’t think a normal wither or withers could destroy an entire world . They would just get taken out over time . And they don’t actively hunt people . Kinda just fly around and kill stuff randomly … but what if this wither storm did it ? What if the old ones thought they could control the withers after they made a few . Trying to use a command block to control it . Backfiring . And creating that thing … because wither storms are technically canon ? One showed up in Minecraft story mode after all … YO IS MINECRAFT STORY MODE A TAIL OF THE OLD ONES !?! … anyways that’s just my theory . Great vid . And also the wither storm kinda looks like Shin Godzilla in the thumbnail and I think thats pretty cool, and pretty fitting considering the concept of Godzilla being an unstoppable force of destruction.
Peak Godzilla is mentioned.

The dread from seeing the wither storm on the horizon, creeping ever closer to your makeshift base, is entirely unmatched within the world of Minecraft mods.
The fear of an already enourmous monster getting bigger if mind consuming

it's incredible how, despite how much Story Mode is despised, and disliked, the Wither Storm is the one aspect of it that has survived. The idea that such a flawed game has a perfect monster is incredible to me.
I still can't believe people hate StoryMode. It's such an awesome game that I feel had a great story. Glad im not the only one who noticed them. Many of them are references to, or lines from the game, or game's trailers. And some of them are hard af
F-Bomb is also a good one
I added this mode for a finale to a server o had running, made everyone’s get on, and for a full 24 hours, we watched this thing tear our server down, all the buildings and bases, and all we could do was watch till we killed it. After we killed it, we made a tribute at spawn, hanging up the star and the weapons, and then, ended the server.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
Saying this is a metal and insane experience would be an understatement, that was NUTS
@ “Nothing build can last forever” is a saying they seem to have forgotten.
The beast wrecks entire worlds
Irredeemably destroying them
It fits well in a story, but it would be hated by players.
Especially those who are foolish enough to summon it, thinking it's a normal wither.
I think you wouldn’t be able to even summon it in survival because it would require getting hold of a command block, and if they do make it possible to find one in the world, I’d guess it’d be one of an kind.
@@headphonesaxolotl i think if it reverted everything it could be fine
I found that there were 3 big problems with the fight overall:
I prefer unique and potent media with a couple flaws rather than above average media with no flaws.
Anyways sleepy time 💤
Co-Dev here, thank you for the feedback! We don't get many critiques on what people don't like of the mod but we do want to hear feedback like this and the github is always open for it, the issue with needing keepinv is why Phlegm was added which acts as a grave whenever you get chomped, punishing you to make you retrieve your stuff but not deleting everything you had,
In the upcoming update we're hoping spawn camping will be less of an issue, as the Wither Storm is meant to ignore players it had recently killed and as well the Wither Storm is meant to cause the player to respawn away from it if it kills them
And also I agree the beams are a bit unfun to interact with currently as it feels like you don't have much control, hopefully we can come up with a solution to that but we may also tweak how fast they'll move towards the player (Middle heads are bugged and snap at the player atm) and I do feel escaping beams is a bit too punishing currently
With the third one, I'm not sure of any other good way we could tackle entering the Wither Storm

Inside the heart of the storm, surrounded by the walls of the victimiser, you see it turn its own heads inwards. You see it’s desperation, how it will disfigure itself, mangle its already grotesque figure, just to survive.

it is weird to not mention the wither sickness effect at all though, or the amulet/phasometer that help a lot with tracking the witherstorm and it's progress, to be honest i kind of expected wither sickness to be the big problem you have with the mod, given how restrictive it is.

And after the F-bomb fails it just gets enraged, at this point it realizes it is trying to kill you and so this time you won't be the only one suffering
Overall this is an amazing mod that could easily be implemented into the base game
6:17 i feel like it’s better to choose the bomb first because as you blow up the witherstorm and look around it’s corpse you see the command block still active making you realise you should’ve used enchanting book for a weapon but it’s too late as the witherstorm starts protecting the command block and rises once again to wreck havoc among the world
Also i feel like the sword is the most befitting for the finale since i think it’s the only enchanted command block weapon in mcsm that has a design
Also if you craft the tool first it kinda spoils that the storm rises back up again

The fact that it takes the main premise of Minecraft (carefully building stuff, putting together intricate structures for your own sake and for the sake of good) and basically twists it, completely flips it around (destroying stuff, but also building upon itself in a chaotic, disorganised manner, for the worse sake)
the feeling of hopelessness, when it kills you again, and again, and again... you just want to give up.
The way the quality degrades is great, it's like your sense are fighting each other as you try to understand what is happening
Up until now, i never truly realised how terrifying the storms music was. Also you can cure the wither sickness with golden apple stew. (I saw it in a video, I may be wrong.)

Anothee note- if you somehow manage to empty the wither storm's health before it becomes invincible, it INSTANTLY skips to its invincible phase just to fuck with you.
Who ran, hiding under her skin, who ripped little pieces of her apart for resources to at least slow your pursuer down, who waged wars neither you nor her were meant to bear, who dropped a bomb onto her image,
*Who woke up the storm.*
Mannnn, this video gave me chills!! I adore it.
if you want a good modpack to play it, explorer's eve is fun. it changes some things about the wither storm to make it more of a constant concern. it also adds some more tools to fight back and its fun to have it chase you through multiple dimensions. its also very light performance wise. and its very replayable with multiple difficultys and a different experience depending on what structures you find. i know this kind of sound like an add but it sort of is as i want more people to know about it so i can see more people play it.
And after all that there's the Eversource mod where you just chill in a Skyblock dimension with a Spawn-Egg factory of a chicken by your side
Completely oblivious to the fact the world is ending by an eldritch monstruousity under your dangling feet.
It’s good to see that we haven’t forgotten about the Wither Storm after 10 years
But just think…
The new Generation doesn’t know about it
Some of Gen Alpha will know, but likely just because of siblings and parents, not experience
@GoodGamerTMwell story mode was made in 2015 and gen alpha started in 2010, it’s probably more than you think. Also the new generation is gen beta now, not gen alpha
@@enigmaticencounterlol3277 Personally I’ve never met anyone from gen alpha that has played Minecraft story mode
You know what would be evil? If you leave a withered symbyote alone for long enough it should turn into another storm.
This video has such a unique narrative angle to it and I love it! I raises it beyond a simple mod review, and elevates it to top tier status! Great work :D
Bro the wither storm theme has been burned into my brain so badly, that I subconsciously just feel fear when I hear it, despite for a while not even remembering where it came from
This is an incredible video!
And this is truly the best horror mod for Minecraft.
Well done conveing such raw emotion. I felt every bit of it. The music choice was spot on.
17:25 "Nothing ever built can't last forever"
18:35 "One story ends, another one begins"
I‘m sorry, but you not having at least 100K subs is absolutely criminal! Good luck out there, keep doing your thing, and as we say in Germany, I’m pressing you the thumbs!
The music at the start almost made me cry, even though i have recently replayed Minecarft Story Mode on my computer through less then ideal means, hearing that music brings so many memories back
School teaches us how to write essays because you can use them in many ways, for example, evaluating Cracker's Wither Storm mod.
18:46 ngl yeah
Not for me
Based 🗿
Freaking loved this essay, as taking the Wither Storm as seriously as possible, imagine such a monster existing, eating everything.
MMMMM MY CHILDHOOD YOU CANT HIT ME WITH THAT RIGHT OFF THE BAT
I freaking LOVE the fact that you used Excuse to punctuate the Epilogue! That song has been one I've been able to connect with in a way I've connected with no other, and you used it in a very, VERY perfect way!
The most striking feature of this boss to me is the music, for sure. It perfectly encapsulates that feeling of dread
i loved this video so much oh my god
the wither storm has always been such a cool thing and i am so glad you made this video!
pretty sure every command block tool is balanced and has its own special unique set of stats, and you only mentioned the diamond ones too
Yeah I could go into depth about that. I heard the stone shovel is absolutely broken.
@@rebbysstuff Can confirm as the co-dev, accidental typo caused it to have a attack speed of 2
That final battle part along with the epilogue where you narrated the storm, the fight and the damage it had caused was surreal. Especially the gut-wrenching moment when you described the waste it laid on the earth. 10/10 I'm deeply impressed
I remember that a long while ago when I was first trying out the mod, I got jumpscared by the Wither Storm's Phase 3 popping up from over a mountain. I think that may honestly be one of my personal scariest moments gaming.
the soundtrack is really damn good. wow
i loved all the motifs coming back, like the broken choppy chords and guitar. really nice
Great vid . I love Minecraft and i absolutely love Minecraft story mode
because the wither storm is not canon to Minecraft. It's only created for Minecraft: Story Mode.
Honestly, when people theorize about Minecraft, they always forget that MC Dungeons and Legends exist which explain more of the story than whatever the hell matpat tries to come up with
The Wither Storm isn't canon to vanilla minecraft, BUT
I love the idea. Always had the same issue with the theory, a normal wither seems so.. easy. Anticlimactic. Once you're out of reach, it wanders blindly. This is now my headcanon, thanks :>
Your editing style is so good and I liked the video, keep up the good work man!
The thought of an almost godlike, endlessly growing and strengthening creature with sole goal of killing YOU and nothing else is horrifying
(15:27 Perfect sountrack transition)
i always wanted as a kid to fight the wither storm in the java minecraft and see the wither storm from afar and FEEL the fear of it coming closer and its now possible thanks to Cracker's team
Thank you for making an Amazing essay on my most Favourite "Boss" of all time and THANK YOU for using the Minecraft's Story Mode OST
Wither Storm is still my Most favourite enemy in the entire history of Gaming.
Here's what I like to say about this mod:
The moment you summon the Storm, you can run, you can hide... but you should've damn well known one thing, as the achievement itself says, "Nothing built can last forever."
This was beautiful. Genuinely amazing. I have nothing more to say, except for great job on this video essay.
Wither storm is just the immortal snail with thousands steps ahead
Whenever you were showing the wither storm hastily approaching the player, i couldnt stop playing Bury The Light (vergil's theme (aka the "i am the storm that is approaching" guy)) im my head
I wonder if there’s a way to make the farlands generate millions of blocks out like how it used to be, but as a feature to the mod.
More like a repeating structure than a glitch in the code.
That sound cool but considering it's distance it be WAY to inconvenient.
@ true but it would be more lore accurate. Adds a lot more adventure too
@@rebbysstuffit could also be a very rare biome, i would be very difficult to program but it would be easier to fine
@elplaceholder that sounds more feasible than a million block walk
@@rebbysstuff actually that’s a very good idea. Should pitch it to the mod developers.
Underated fr fr. Also this has the feeling of an anlog horror

something i will note, i'm glad you put text on the screen instead of an irritating TTS voice
Okay, new favorite person ig. I wish there were more videos on this mod. I love it so much.
I really hope the Cracker's Witherstorm inspire others to create a mod about the other monsters of Minecraft Story Mode
I really love this editing style the voiceless narrator makes it more personal in a way like you can picture this voice as anyone to your liking I personally like to read it as jesse himself :) overall great video
I saw you in the discord server asking if your thumbnail was good lol!
@@Todd471 It was!
