WHITE CHRISTMAS

Irving Berlin wrote “WHITE CHRISTMAS” for Holiday Inn, a musical film released in 1942. It was written as a Christmas song in an old-fashioned home-and-hearth setting. In 1943, its composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. This song was first performed publicly by Bing Crosby, the famous American singer; it has since become Crosby’s signature song. Today, WHITE CHRISTMAS is one of the most performed songs during the Christmas holidays.
