The technique doesn't work for me, because ifI am focused, I am focused. I can study for 5 hours. But if I keep on taking breaks every 25 minutes,I will lose my focus since I am a person who gets distracted very easily. Then I get demotivated and no longer wanna study
For the people who say the technique is whack because they go on for 4-5 hours at a stretch and taking short breaks is detrimental to their flow. You guys should realise you can skip breaks. These breaks and boundaries in general are to help ‘you’ not the other way around. If you feel like you are in the groove, then do not stop. Keep going. When you feel like your focus is off take the next break whenever it comes. The break ending will motivate you to sit back down and not just waste your time.
I think the problem with this is that we arent that good at knowing when our performance is decreasing. There is this study called "Understanding effort regulation: Comparing 'Pomodoro' breaks and self-regulated breaks" that observes higher fatigue and less performance on the group who self regulated their breaks rather than using fixed times
Pomodoro is a great technique for editing videos! Those 5 mins breaks are really necessary to prevent burnout and sometimes these breaks provide good ideas too!
For me the technique helps me get started but I'm not strict about it. Sometimes 25 minutes isn't enough and it interrupts my study and sometimes 5 minutes isn't enough to refresh my brain to study again. I prefer task based study i.e taking a break every time I finish a chapter/problem.
i think best idea is mix task based with time based blocks. just aim for finishing certain tasks in certain amount of time. or just in other words have task based goal for each pomodoro.
Yes 50-10 is the best for me. 25-5 feels too short. But 25-5 helped me to start! It helped me to realize how much can be done even in that time frame if we focus. I have trouble concentrating. The countdown staring at my face made me focus. And now I have moved on to 50-10 . 😊 whenever I feel like I'm not doing much, I go back to 25-5 again.
To be honest, you should use the pomodoro technique if you don't revise that much or get distracted. I found that when have been revising for a long time the pomodoro technique is a waste, as you can easily get into a 4 hour work flow and have deep focus

Different people have different durations of total concentration. So, we have to find that by recording our times and taking an average of our durations of total concentration. Then we can add appropriate minutes required for break time.
When I am feeling good I am doing 120/20. when I am not feeling neutral I am doing 50/10 and when I feel tiered I am doing 25/5. Most of the time my motivating gowns and I am able to do 50/10. but my biggest tip is to not overcomplicate it that much. Just start doing it. Instead of starting and figuring things out we are wasting our times giving views to people that know shit about the human brain and study habits lmao. Also, please put your phone away. I love reading during my breaks. And no you are not mixing the information together. While studying I like filling every blind spot to get a better grip of it. It is faster for me to learn. Stop making your notes or study sheets aesthetic. The most important thing is that it is correct and well structured. The more individual it is the better. Try out new things. Make Mindmaps. Pomodoro does work, but it depends on the person to know how it is most effective to one. For example my best friend loves 25/5 because she has difficulty staying focused for long periods of time. Whereas for me 50/10 is a better option because I only get in the zone after 20 minutes so then I can work focused for 40 minutesuntil I'm reminded I need to get a break, drink water, stretch, clear my mind and then go back to it.
The pomodoro method works for me. It makes me more productive. It's fine if you say it's bad, it's your opinion. In my opinion, I use it often when I get a lot of homework.
It doesn't work for me because i tend to focus for a long period of time like 7-8 hours straight. And then take a long break. This works for me because I study during nights and i am not distracted at all,so i van sit for a long time with no breaks.
i do 50/5 for 3 times, after that i rest for 30->45min,maybe excercise with my wii or switch fit, snacks, and then continue,i feel that 25/5 will break my attention span,50/5 or 45/5 is better also, open the window,if your room is full of fresh air, your brain works harder
We can use the pomodoro technique when we don’t want to study that subject or anything else for focus, and we don’t need to use it when we are really focused on the task which u are doing Edit: and thanks for explaining 😊
The whole concept is based on periods of productivity and rest. If people don't have the sense to adapt timings that suits them, then productivity is not their biggest challenge 😂

I guess, we can study till we run out of concentration fuel and take appropriate minutes of break. Ex I studied with utmost concentration for 45 minutes and then I took a 7-8 minute break. (or) I studied for 2 hours with utmost concentration and I took a 20-30 minute break.

I use 50-10 pomodoro and i usually study for 15-16 hours and this works with 10 mins consistent breaks
