My TechED teacher bought a original K1 and it worked fine for about a week. The amount of time I've been in that TechED room trying to figure out what was wrong with the printer is crazy.
I bought the K1 when it came out and sent it back a month later. I've now bought a K1C 2nd hand and can tell its a completely different printer. The small tweaks have made such a difference. Before there were VFAs, artefacts, missing layers, etc. But now I just get smooth prints.
And one thing that you did not mention is that the k1c has a different set of smaller pulleys and smaller motors. This was done to improve the VFA issue the k1 has. Cheers take care
I love my k1 and have updated the extruder, hot end, added camera and did a few things like level bed and rooted it. It prints like a dream and paired with Orca it is a beast. I never really cared for creality before and have 3 other printers from other brands. But now my k1 is my go to printer. I have over 1000 hours on it and up to now its been great. We'll except for the exploding door. Lol. But creality was great and is sending me a replacement door and dealing with them was easy. I was surprised. Love these kinds of videos.
I'm a newbie to world of 3D printing. I've been reading and watching as much UA-cam videos to determine which printer I want to purchase. I'm leaning toward a enclose system to keep the smell down to a minimum and not to worry about temperature control for the open systems. My question is "Would you recommend replacing the nozzle on the Creality K1 or the Creality K1 Max by Microswiss FlowTech Hot end? " So not having to heat the nozzle up to remove it and then replace the nozzle, plus torque it in place so not to leak. That way you can change the nozzle when it is cold. Looks like Microswiss FlowTech Hot end makes it for other manufacturers also.

I got the K1 as my very first 3D printer after they fixed the issues for $349 on Black Friday. I upgraded my hotend to a Micro Swiss FlowTech and added the AI camera. I’ve had issues with under extrusion at 1 corner, but I just lower retraction and increase the extra prime amount. I’ve also noticed that the print quality is affected by the stability of the surface it’s sitting on. I wasted time changing values and running calibration tests when all I had to do was sit it on something sturdy. I also reduced the travel and jerk speeds a bit since they seemed unnecessarily high.
From my point of view the k1 is better if you want a better nozzle as it uses the non proprietary nozzle so you can find better reinforced, different sized, and high flow nozzles for cheap that are compatible
I got two K1 used from a Facebook marketplace seller and one has been great and the other a mess. The seller hadnt tested that one for months and left ABS in the nozzle for all that time. Now its causing issues with the prints because something is happening with the new nozzle and hot end after i had to replace the nozzle and small tube because of the clog.
I had no interest in these smaller printers but figured I'd skip around through this video out of curiosity since I just got the K1 Max.
