Another reason is customization. You are not stuck with the same old desktop. Linux has many desktop options. And if you're a power user you can use a titling window manager and configure it to your desires.

Absolutely! It doesn't even have to be much customization. The desktop of Windoze is aweful, so that a standard installation of Maté, Cinnamon or KDE is already superior in UX.

Not like indestructible but very hard to break in , since virus directly can't get into other library like virus in windows can , and you can remove it easily ..
And other reason is that more than 70% of user are windows so most of 99% of virus are made for windows , so linux won't execute them , so it won't affect it .. .

  • @bakos.samson

    Reasons I can't switch (tried)
    1. Proper usage of Office apps daily for work, internet version isnt enough.
    2. Adobe software compatibility, I just need to use Ps, Pr few times a week
    3. Games, without some luckily working emulators my games arent native for linux (Call of Duty MW3 for example)
    4. Hassles and hassles. Linux always has a problem, like something is always wrong either the display, or nvidia drivers, or storage management, or something always goes wrong.

      1.LibreOffice, or OpenOffice.
      2. (Not a 1/1 alternative) GIMP and kdenlive.
      3. You got a point. But for other games Proton exists.
      4. I can only give you a point for the Nvidia drivers, but I, as a Gentoo Linux user I never had any of the issues that you mentioned, maybe try a different distro?

      @bakos.samson 2 місяці тому

      @@VinceAle7082YT
      1. I tried it, libreoffice is surprisingly good but i would like to stick to ms office
      2. If you really use professional sofrware like this you understand not everythijg can be replaced. Davinci and gimp are free and i wouldnt have to pay adobe. I do use these programs because i cant stand gimp. The video editor is the only one that can be switched up tho, but davinci is known to have issues on linux.
      3. Emulators dont always work and when competitive games like cod are in the talk you just cant play it the same way as on windows natively
      4. I tried Mint, but i didnt like it, i tried Zorin OS, the installation process didnt work, i did everything correctly and still after removing the installation medium it just disappeared feom my pc and didnt work, unlike mint. I tried debian with gnome, which was solid, but i like kde plasma more. I also tried kde plasma arch linux, that was still the cleanest installation of them all. My point is linux cant replace my windows/mac fully, but I have nothing against those who use it.

However, it's a sad fact that Stallman has not received the recognition he deserves for his pioneering work. Often, the term "Linux" is used generically to refer to the GNU/Linux operating system, ignoring the GNU part of the system. This can be seen as an injustice to Stallman and the GNU project, which have significantly contributed to creating a computing environment based on software freedom and sharing. Therefore, it's important to give proper credit to Stallman and the GNU project for their crucial role in the modern computing ecosystem. If we were to call "GNU/Linux" just "Linux," then we should apply the same naming principle to the Android operating system for phones since it uses the Linux kernel. However, it should be noted that Android is much more than just a kernel; it is a complete operating system with a diverse software ecosystem and a wide range of components that go beyond the Linux kernel. This analogy underscores the importance of recognizing the significant contributions and complexity of operating systems in their naming. Most users already experienced with Windows, it means they can fix most issues themselves without looking for solutions online and they are more efficient with it due to familiarity. As far as I know Linux still not on par with Windows in every category or have any significant advantages over Windows. Yeah there are some but most users don't need or care about things like freedom, privacy and advanced customizations.
