Can you make a video about your kit? Sounds amazing!
NuncFluens Wow thank you, I'm planning to make another Soultone Cymbals video featuring this kit. In the meantime , you can check my other kit in the link at the end of this video. It was featured in April 2016 Modern drummer magazine.
this kit sounds great.
Hey thank you!! I worked hard trying to make it sound ok...but I think Benny might have a little to do with the great sound lol
yes, would love to see an up close vide of this kits set up - especially the kick on the floor tom - what a space saver
How could so many people just stroll by one of the most famous and distinguished drummers on the planet! holy moley what a privilege you've had sir
Absolutely killer vibe on guitar from Shawn Ishimoto. Damn near the coolest version of Cissy Strut on YT !
That smile! Tells us what we really need to know about drumming.
What's totally blowing my mind away is the fact that he was sitting behind that non-conventional set of drums for the very first time and listen to what is he pulling out of it... man, the guy is a great mix of musicality, genius and dexterity for sure.
mellilore lol I know right! I barely came up with this kit and still can't figure it out it proper like he can 😛 Inspiring!
Ghost notes with his fingers!! Pretty darn swish.
he really understand what to play and when to play it. One of the best drummers in that regard.
Anyone ever see Benny play his kitchen table while eating breakfast,, priceless........😎
Literally one of the greatest drums on earth and not one person notices him ... the plight of the drummer
You could say, what a priviliege! He´s famous AND free to do what ever he likes, witout being recognized.
After all the drumming videos I've watched....finally a beautiful one. Thanks for sharing it.
Benny oozes class. Just jamming outside a shopping mall for the folks and being humble like he’s NOT one of the most popular drummers in the world.
accent at 2:24 was so perfect
instantly put me in a groove coma
Amazing musician Benny!
wow, what an awesome interpretation/version of an already amazing tune. This kit is probably the coolest cocktail kit I've seen - looks perfect for quieter gigs, sounds great, portable and you can sit and play it (comfort) - I would love to see the beater on the floor closer and how you put that together. Great stuff, thank you for posting this!
the best thing i've heard in months....
incredible bass drum sound!
That's so cool!! Lovely feel and sound, and great ideas!!
I could listen to this for hours
honestly he could make a bunch of pans sound great, what an amazing talent he has got.
juan david velasquez yessss
Cool looking kit you got there! Benny killing it as always... :)
Petar Pavasović Thank you for the comment!
mrtinyjam Thank you for uploading the video!
Nobody talking about the guitar player absolutely killing it too
Priceless playing...
Look at that smile on his face! Priceless!
Benny is one of my faves. I'll watch anything with him playing. He has fantastic feel and plays the tastiest grooves. great video! Thank you for sharing. Subscribed.
Wow.... the sound is amazing dude. Cant believe u recorded it via camera
people walking past, not even stopping to look as one of the best drummers in the world sits and jams in front of them. the ignorance of non musicians is painful to witness
For real
People aren't obligated to appreciate something because it's awesome to a group of musicians.
It's not an obligation, it's a privilege. It's not about people being inferior because they can't identify greatness when they see it, either, it's just kinda side to see music taken for granted -because music is for everyone, even non-musicians.
no it doesn't matter. does who know how to appreciate are more important.
I love this so much.
That face : )) made me smile too.
thanks for sharing
The drums sound beautiful. The outstanding musicians are wonderful, too.
Kenneth Dean I appreciate your comment. I proud to come with the setup and sound. Yeah, its incredible playing with high caliber musicians. Send this to all your Benny fans 👍
that reggae groove was one of the sickest i've heard in a long time. tight.
This video is so awesome! One of the drum masters of our time, just enjoying a moment to chill with you guys and groove around...so cool! I really like the frailty and rawness of the ending how they just subtly tailed out of the jam...very nice and showing good musicianship. Thanks for sharing this video and moment...it was very cool to see!
Little Drummer Channel ;)
Awesome!!
Great! Loving this
man that sounds such an awesome jam! so laid back!
So Klasse, danke Benny, für so viele Impressionen

Sehr sehr geil! Goooooooo Benny!
I had the chance to meet and talk to Benny at one if his clinics, I traveled 3 hours to get there and came an hour early just to see him do his sound check. He's so nice and relaxed to talk to, couldnt believe how comfortable I was around him What a guy.
BTW that kit is dope, really Inspiring to try different things.
TheZooNinjaS yeah, we could all strive to be cool. Thanks for the complement on my kit :)

Cesar Harretche Thank you so much.Yeah really nice guy. Check out Parish drums 👍
I love music. I've been a follower drummers world. They have always featured GREAT Drummers!!
What a treat! You play effortlessly dude. Thanks
Great sounding little kit. Cool vid.
Lan Do Thanks for the input 👍I'm always trying new things.
This is epic! thanks for sharing this, man.
There's a tiny part of a percent of UA-cam that is really worth watching and then re-watching, and re-watching: Everything about this video is right - capturing an impromptu jam by a top musician, and what a great groove, and furthermore the sound pickup is so nicely balanced (outboard mic presumably?) Like anyone who's truly mastered their art, he really makes it look an absolute piece of cake. Fab little kit btw.
Realistic slot machine vids Thanks for the awesome comment about my kit! Yeah, He's truly a master at his craft!! 😎
Benny is always a beat beast but that lovely guitar deserves an honorable mention, especially as it was played in such an unusual way!
Marcin Szymanek that's my boy Shawn. He plays everything under the sun too!!
I forgot how great a simple guitar can sound! You can thank Shawn for reminding me about that!
It is playing, jaming from the heart with feeling..only for fun...great!
Doing more with less... Gavin Harrison "Technique is impressive, but it doesn't move me". This is moving.
Man, that was crazy tasty drumming!.... That's so hard to find! The antithesis to "Dynamics? What are you saying? I'm playing as loud as I can!" Thanks for posting!!!!
lucky! and yeah cool kit indeed!
great upload!
thanks for this vídeo, is AMAZING
only drum It was privilege to have him talk drums with me 👍😊 he was way nice asking what this weird kit was.
hahaha, you're in the perfect moment, i wish Benny greb come to my country, Argentina needs see this art, this drummer, i only see on vídeos, and he sounds amazing i only can image the real sound he' got
incredible performance!
This is so cool. I really like how you've put a few other bits and pieces like the cowbell and auxiliary hats, more sounds without making the kit itself much bigger. Thanks for sharing!
👽🤘 thank you
@@mrtinyjam no problem. What cymbals are they?
@@dandeliontea7 soultone cymbols.. check out the link to modern drummer mag. Someone put a link somewhere on here

Bryan Forth Thank you for commenting 👍 that's a great idea Bryan. I'll have a video soon , when my other music projects settle down.
This is classy as fuck.
He just does things you never think of like riding on a splash because why not?
Brian Givens Exactly! Why not? No rules.
Haha Yes!!
Amazing custom kit!!
Very cool. Nice Kit Setup. Did you turn a djembe into a snare? Benny always is so creative and fun to watch play. Thanks for the share
One does not simply pass by Benny Greb. One should stay and watch. Jeez ppl on the streets lol
Superb!
Very nice
Ele não é um mero baterista, ele é um artista.
It sounds so good!!! 😭
benny's like, lemme school you on several styles effortlessly.
Yo this was filmed really well. Please reveal yourself, filmer.
lol Thanks , I wish I had my gopro though. I'm a soultone artist working a disney, you can click see me in link at the end of this vid!
excellent
Great drummer
Class with smile :)
trully artistic
Owner of the kit going....okay okay you can stop now.
Lol not at all 👽🤘I was honoured to have him talk to me and check out my set
I just got my March issue of Modern Drummer in the mail today and I saw your kit in the back. I’m really impressed with the floor tom/kick drum sound! Im dying to know how you rigged that big bass drum beater to hit the bottom of the floor tom. Such a big sound! Oh yeah, Benny sounded good too. The Meters!!
Dude! I didn't even get my MD mag yet lol thank you for commenting 😎 I just used a pedal i mod from DW called the side kick and used Randell May internal mics on all drums. Yeah, Benny was kind enough to make my drums sing 🤘
mrtinyjam I meant to say “April” issue of MD. But since I got it in the mail while it was still February, I just put March. Anyway, that’s a great story and a great video! Thanks for getting back to me regarding my question about the pedal. The guitarist in the video picked the perfect song for an instrumental jam. I love the looks on Benny’s face when he plays certain parts of the kit for the first time. He was obviously having fun improvising on your drums with the brushes. There are so many sounds that one can get out of a pair of brushes.
omg :o amazing
What a gem! Extra glad I had headphones on for that base!
Wow!! Didn’t realize you posted this, man.. That was a hell of a little improv, really... Incredible drummer.. It was completely unplanned, I can tell you that.. But what a player!!!
Shawn Ishimoto yeah man, I sent it to your inbox. You guys are pros!! Inspiring to see.
Hey vsauce, Michael here!
Benny Greb is German not Jewish.
Great wash.
Herbal essences.
where's the ride? There are plenty around Disney
When i grow up, i wanna be Benny Greb.
Can't watch this with out smiling ear to ear
awesome busk setup!!
Jay Torraso thanks!! I worked hard on setup :)
mrtinyjam - now put a DDRUM trigger on that floor tom to get a bit more boom w DDRUM module and you'll have a portable acoustic/digital setup for busking😁. - where do u usually busk? I've busked the whole west coast from: San Diego all the way up to Seattle
Jay Torraso cool idea, I think that's a great idea, but more stuff to carry around lol what module do you recommend? I work mostly at the Disney Resort with this set up.
mrtinyjam - that's why I say DDRUM...they are older now, small...DVD player size and cheap. or u can use a Roland module w those tiny KD7 floor kicks...they fit in ur pocket. I use 2 of em😁 - instead of lugging around 2 big kick druns
Jay Torraso yeah I'll look into that. thanks for the input ☺
I love the tom/kick sound. How can someone achieve a sound like this ? Could someone give the reference of the tom and the beater ?
This is a hybrid kit, mixed acoustics with electronic triggers and pads
@@quorthonsinferno5119 really? I can't find any of that with sight or sound. Can you give a reference?
great
How is the audio quality so good? Looks almost like an outdoor mall, which are usually noisy and loud...love the video at any rate.
Reece Webber Thank you for the feed back. This was recorded at Downtown Disney. I'm one of the artist there.👍
So how did you do the recording, and who did the video?
David Espinosa Thanks for the comments! I did it (Jimmy Tran aka mrtinyjam) , this is my channel. I recorded this with my Pixel phone. You can see cocktail kit in the link at the end of this video. 👍
Great video, man! What head are you using on the "bass" side of your tom? I've been wanting to do something like that with my floor tom lately, and this tom/bass hybrid sounds fantastic!
melvinbrains good day! Thanks for listening. it's an Aquarian drumhead custom super kick 1, with a DW pillow inside. 👍
Also very interesting setup with the kit bellow the floor tom. I'm thinking of getting that Parish Drum snare
What kick pedal was used for this setup?
Thank you for watching. It's a DW Side Kick. The Parish people are real down to earth, I recommend it!
Thanks man. Actually was still thinking about your setup, very very clever, it has really inspired me. I have emailed Parish yesterday. What caught my attention at first is the djembe snare. Can you tune it? Have you ever played it with hands? I am firstly building a hybrid/percussive kit. Which cymbal models are you using here?
I'm very interested in this too! Just discovered these drums and found this video immediately after. @mrtinyjam Have you found the snare limiting at all? Or do you find that it does everything you want?
DavidBcg I play with it like djembe and you can tune it. If you crank it up, it really sounds like a timbale. Cymbals, I'm Soultone artist.
he play the less be for more.play fo r beaty of song.some time less be for the more, play for song, good musican
Hmm that blond chick keep checking ole Benny out now! Bet she feelin nice and MOISSST!!
sick jams
Smooth…
Great video! Is that a rim riser on the snare? Where can you buy them for this snare? I think the lugs are too long for the regular one
